Have I missed something somewhere? I'm pretty good at remembering stuff from the comics but I'll be jiggered if I remember anywhere seeing that they are making them in KOREA....... I went into my local music shop (the big PINK shop in Lincoln, great place BTW!) to buy my guitarist a birthday present.... and I had to look at the basses didnt I...... Well I was drawn to a new 5 string Jazz, a nice tobbaco burst and I picked it up for a twanglet. It had a gold F logo which I hadnt seen before so thought it was unusual so I flipped it over and it had a proper F serial number but "made in Korea" underneath.... Looks like we'll have to add another catagory to the debate... MIA, MIJ MIM and now MIK.... In fairness it was pretty well put togheter and felt somewhere between a MIM and MIA.... Maybe this is because they are new and QC is spot on..... Oh and it wasnt cheap either.... £760.... So wadda we think, good bad indifferent?

Not played either of the above but I do have an Ovation Viper which is a hollow body. With patience and playing around abit with stings etc you can obtain a truly wonderful tone. I guess they are Marmite basses..... (you know what I mean) Sadly the only way you'll find out if YOU like them is for YOU to try one..... All with the IMHO caveat of course.....

Bassbloke was selling a very nice 3 pup MIJ 5 string that I had for a short while... that would be around 300-350ish... Contact him......

+ another 1 for OBBM I make my own leads but buy the bits from him. Cheaper that the cheapest on ebay and a damn sight more reliable.

+1 for Daisy Rock ..... very well made and quite a few in here have them for for thier offspring....

Hummn an extra fret to that fretboard would require pretty major surgery I'm afraid, I guess not impossible but very expensive. ....

That bass is more fishy than a fishy thing that smells of tuna... a REAL '64 would have a start price with an extra (or maybe even 2) zeroes behind it. Its just wrong. At best its a re issue reliced, at worse just a reliced MIM.....

At £25 wot do you expect? It'll probably cost him that much in ebay and PP charges. anyone who is looking at a Hartke will probably know the spec anyhoo.....

Playing is a tactile pursuit. Always get one that feels lovely, Tone is just a matter of swapping easily changed electrical bits about.....

Wiring is pish easy if you go v/v/t which is what I'd recommned - look on SD's webby for simple wiring diags... Oh and off to teh techie section....
