1.
Dowel maybe? Stick it in, cut to size, sand it down and paint it could work if you had the size of the pot holes. Zach
whilst a good idea if you have a solid finsh it looks sh*te on a trans/clear varnish/ oil finish. The reason is that dowel has its grain running along the length of it, and your body grain will be running front to back.... Use dowel to plug hole but leave it 1mm short, Then cut a pice of the dowel in 1/2 and use the flat surface cut into a 1mm slither and cut into a circle to fit on top of the plug.... make sure the grain is running fromt to back or inline with the grain on your body and you can make a credible job with some patience. Good luck....
2.
I've just removed the electronics from my Warmoth as I've never used them since I built it. Pickup and earth just go straight to the jack now. I'm trying to find plain top chrome bolts and am going to use that to cap the holes.
Why not just make a new scratch plate that goes over the cavity? Wouldnt that look much better?
3. Normally items like the tunre should be protected against plugging in a reverse polarity and all you should do is blow a chip or fuse. I have to say if it stunk the place out, it will be serious of a close to fatal kind..... By all means take it to a Petersen dealer to see what they say but I'm pretty confident I know what the answer will be......! The potential current draw of your transformer shouldnt have been the problem..... are you sure you plugged the power suply in the correct socket? I know this is a potentially insulting question, but if you had checked all the details before merely plugging in a power supply that has potential to supply more current than was required , that alone would not fry the innerds!
4. Very nice chap.... good luck with the project!
5.
Ahh, my old fretless. Spoke to John Shuker the other day and he told me this was his first fretless.
I have loads of questions for you then....
6. Dont you already make enough noise with a Buell and KTM anyway?
7. Sorry but pic isnt much help.... If I squint and shake my hands infrom ot my face it looks like the encrypted porn channels in hotels..... need better pics.... had another thought, it maybe one of these that the pup wires staright to the vol pot and the PCB sorts the rest of the pre amp from there. But would need to see lots more detail....
8. What a top bloke...... Very easy to deal with and very affable too!
9. SOLD to me....... Mwwwwahahahahahahahaha....... :brow:
10. Pics would be good, but the 2 blacks will be -ve or earth and the white will be +ve or 'hot output' from the pup. The blk and wht from the pup should have an input point on the board thats obvious.... teh blk from the bridge can go to the -ve of the jack or the back of a convienient pot.
11. If it doesnt go to silly money and you like it, you'd be madder than a box of Frogs not to buy it at the price its currently at.... Looks like lovely old girl to me....! FWIW I do reflect the 'walk away from it if you're not happy' advice relayed above tho' I've missed out on a couple of cheepish PRSs recently because I just wasnt 100% happy..... You'd be wise to do the same if your in that boat! Nothing will annoy you more (and be time consuming) than getting burnt!
12. Ray, I have started a pinned topic in Bass guitars for stolen basses, is it possible to get any more info and start a new post in that topic please so that this doesnt get lost? Bob.
13.
I like a really mid-heavy nasal tone on my fretless Jazz. Chris
Try rubbing some Olbas oil into your fretboard that'll get rid of that in no time........
14. Yes it is, I have both his books now which would just about cover anything you need to do, think of it as a Haynes manual and you cant go far wrong..... From changing strings to changing a fretboard and about everything in between. Superb VFM IMO.....
15.
anyone tried the fender flats ? seems i should have ordered thomastick flats . oh well will give them a try .
Yep I tried some (9050s I think), found them roughly finished and not overly pleasant tonally. Went to D'addarios and use them all the time now, but have recently got into GHS flats too.... they are superb from new (ie dont really require 'playing in' to get the best tone from them) and they are so smoov on your fingers..... I really quite like them.
16. Thats a helluva lot of bass for that money go for it.....
17. rather than loosening the t-rod try raisng the A saddle a bit it sounds abit low. Might be a knacked string too.....
18. Judging by the entry in teh 'blue book' it is bit dear, but then its only worth what someone is prepared to pay and it is a minter!
19. C'mon guys the dude want a PRS ....... Help him out so he can get with the programme....! (SE Custom is a great choice BTW, you'll love it ! )
20. Grinning pending the usual.....
21. Hmmmmm sounds like your talkiing yourself into Dans book........
22. ^ GuitarHero II makes a CD........
23. (hands in pockets, shuffles feet and whistles to the sky..........) There seems to be a trend amongst us ____sters of wealth redistribution, and GAS....... N'est pas?
24. Its pretty obvious isnt it? While there is still passion and desire for the drum, bass, & 1or2 geetar band format, things will stay the same...... There was a bit of a design flourish in the 80s, but Britpob bought the format back into vogue in the 90s..... Whilst Geetarists (bless 'em) still want to play Strats and Les Pauls we'll be twanging Fender clones of one sort or another.... These are generalisations I know, but just check out popular geetar sales, and you'll see what I mean...
