2. Like so many things in life I'm pretty open to all shapes.... Again, more important to me is how they feel, what kinda sound I can get out of it, & will it mind if I tinker with it, does it hum and whine when I'm plugged in ..... Back to basses - I have my definate likes (onbviously) ,but only really Ritters and single cut Seis turn me off.
3. Bugger, another skinny neck........ Actually ....... THANKFULLY another skinny neck.....
4. About 2 years ago I played about with an Ampeg that had a commissioned PRS neck, (plus the original) It was heavy, had fantastic sustain but I couldn't make my mind up and another chap bought it....... If you had any idea how many times I've kicked myself for doing that now........ Try one, they are definately Marmite basses, but if you like 'em.....
5. ^great story Mine is quite simple, I have always found the basslines the easiest to pick out of any recording..... I have no idea why...... As an adult I have had no hankerings to play anything else other than bass. (Although I am being tempted to get a 6 string to play the odd rythm parts!) Maybe some peeps are just more 'in tune' with the low end?
6. Another piece of conclusive evidence that breeding with relatives is not a good thing........
7. Yep do it yourself but take your time..... Oh and off to repairs......
8. Porn I believe......
9.
Hmm, sounds like an interesting idea, though is it worth going into a railway modeling shop and asking for a track cleaning eraser?
For those wishing to avoid the 'embarrasing railway shop' moments...... 10. better solution is go to your local railway model shop and get a track cleaning eraser.... No I'm not kidding..... Find yourself some very thin clear plastic (like that on blisterpacks) that is flat. Cout out a slot in a rectangle that will fit between the highest frets on your bass (21, 22, or 24th) and the cut out slot should be as wide a your frets.... then simply hold the plastic sheet either side of the fret to be polished and work across it with the track cleaner.... Lovely bright shiny frets...
11. Nope no experience andnot seen one.... let us know what its like when you get it.....! Stagg stuff is normally cheap and cheerful, useable rather than beautiful....
12. Marc, Yeah I tried it in Sound control in Nottm, with one of their P-basses ( I wasnt shopping for amps but got excited when i saw it) and in honesty it needed 2 of the bass amp driver units (subs) to make it sound 1/2 decent for a P. I can imagine with an accoustic set in a hotel lobby lounge/bar it would be sweet, but for a bass backline it was thin sounding, and very very expensive for what it was..... If I had unlimited funds and a huge sw***y pad that I invited my mates over to jam in then I would consider one but for getting the best sound from a bass in a live situation, IMHO forget it. Shame because I wanted to be blown away by it!
13.
Do you guys reckon if I emailed Rob Green very nicely, he might be able to sort me out a streamline with screwholes for the Steinberger DB bridge? And would this be a good idea?
I guess you have answered your own question.... email the man and ask... If the d-tuner is what you want, go for it.... (I love 'em but mine are on the squiggly bits on the other end to where you want yours.... )
14. So basically this 'double jazz' is 2 J single coil pups put in 1 moulded plastic unit..... bit like an SD cool rail..... Are they set up as h-buckers then? one would presume they are, otherwise unless they are coil tapped or switchable it would appear a bit 'gimmicky' to me..... a promo tool if you will .....
15. I particularly like this bit.... "What you’re bidding on here is basically the neck and electronics – unless you like the way the body looks, in which case I have to seriously question your taste." Class, pure class..... That being said He's played it at CBGBs so what does that say 'bout him....
16. Nah dont be a woos..... Plug 'em yourself.....
17. HN, Where have you seen this 'double jazz' mentioned... Sounds like pants to me! I'd like to check it out..... confused of Lincoln
18.
Yes I know the neck will dive but I just did not like them. Put on a set of VERY HEAVY Gotoh's. Now thats much better...........I promise not to muck about to much with your creation.
Marc.. Ohhh thats OK then.... I cant account for personal tastes.... I hope the Gotohs are BLK.... I'm chuffed you still like it....! Did you still need the hole shims for the Gotohs or did they come out? Pics'd be good....! Bob.

In this financial climate too!
Actually Rob, I've been on't 'bay a bit this evening (fookin xmas! ) and its a bit menkle... folks are paying daft money for stuff! If I'd have realised how silly it is I would have approached it differently.... sorry chuck! ( @ me)
