Hello my name is Jake...... -
It's always tricky to pat yourself on the back (metaphorically and physically) but don't leave yourself out of the role call Bob.
John, Noted, but having a done a thankless job for 25yrs, i) I'm used to it, and ii) I dont expect it... So very few people get any thanks for doing their job these days! It just gives me a warm glow to know I have done something good and worthwhile...

Reuel's bass travel plan. (Shipping has now been paid for!)
The Burpster replied to Shockwave's topic in General Discussion
Speaking from the point of one that was ripped off for £900 last year (found him and hes paying up or going to jail ) I was kinda the same as Reuel.... you feel mad but stupid for getting taken for granted.... As for the more vociferous ones..... In my experience those that shout the loudest generally have the most to hide and are trying to divert attnetion from themselves...... -

Gman how much more do we need to be able to send it DHL ? -
Now I am happy that we have reached an agreeable and sensible resolution to the recovery of Reuel's (IncX) Vampyre I would like to make a few points and thank a few people. This weekend I will write a full account of what we were faced with and how it was dealt with, although this wont have all the investigative narrative in it as I dont want it to be a "this is how we did it" breifing for someone else to figure a way of getting 'round it. It will however be titled "Read this if your thinking of ripping someone off" and will be a sticky in the For Sale section. To this end I will be deleting both the threads contents, except the OP as there was some investigative work still in there and some pretty strong emotional posts that will I'm sure be replicated in the very near future in other threads. This course of action has been agreed by all the principal participants of this affair. So to the Thanks:- Reuel (IncX)- has been a true gentleman throughout this. He has listened to and taken advice, and has gone well out of his way to assist in helping. He has remained sensible and non-vindictive and from his reactions is a pretty happy bunny this evening. Rob (Shockwave) - Had no real reason to be involved in this at all but has practiaclly done it all, we have been working together on this from about post No5 of the first complaint. I have been gobsmacked at his fortitude and doggedness in persuing threads of investigation, and of anyone, he has blown me away with his controlled sense of justice. Steve Norris - for putting himself out to act as neutral and non judgemental courier. Crazykiwi - for allowing us to get on with it and sort this with the minimum of pain. And the following for parts they have played quietly behind the scenes (in no particular order) Warwickhunt Greg, Gman and Florin (from the Warwick forum). Alexclaber Boo Waynepunkdude DocB I'd like to thank Jake for coming forward and taking it on the chin. He could've made this alot worse than in reality it has been. I know there are those amongst you that have judged him, however it does take some courage to come forward and admit your are wrong... EVEN when backed into a corner. Belive me this could have been a lot messier for those involved than it has been. I'd also like to thank the rest of BC for being patient with us and whilst maybe not even agreeing with some of our actions, at least allowing to get on with it.

Whilst I understand the feelings that have prompted this thread I dont feel its appropriate. I speak individually as a mod here, (obviously a decision to ban someone is normally agreed by a quorum lead by at least 1 admin!) I will NOT be voting for Jake to be banned. He has had to endure plently of humiliaton already and considearbly more than any mormal offender for a relatively minor theft/fraud. I dont expect he'll be welcomed back with open arms either. Our interactions with him have been open and frank and I have left avenues open for him to ask for help if he genuinely needs it. For those of you that believe I and others are being over generous.... ask yourself this..... "how would I expect to be treated, finding myself in a similar situation?"

Fender H1 P (even more pimped) -
Well only just becoming a Shuker owner, I didnt feel in a position to comment before..... Jon is primarily a custom luthier. Therfore if you order from him it will be highly likely you are speccing an instrument. That kind of service rightly will cost. Do the instruments justify the cost? Certainly the one that I now own (that wasnt one that I ordered) is very well made, and is made from high quality parts and materials. The finish and shaping and attention to detail are of teh standard I would expect when spending real money on a bass. It plays fantastically and handles just as well. If I had ordered this bass to this spec I would be very very happy. As it wasnt one I ordered, I am exstatic at this one as with the exception of a few very minor details (which I will be discussing with Jon soon) it is very close to perfection. The volume and tone of the sound, is astounding...... Why are they popular at the minute...... fashion I guess.... Quality never really goes out of fashion, but itmes become 'flavour of teh month' and maybe thats what he's enjoying at the moment.... ?

Well heres an oddity, I never put brand new strings on without cleaning them (have you seen how much oil and preservative is on them?), which I normally do with WD40 and then alcohol. Once installed I clean them after every use with a Fast fret stick, none of mine have shown any adverse effects and yes it IMHO it does improve string life. It does make them feel a little slicker too....
