HS, That is lovely and let me know if you ever need to part with her.... I seriously like the Swampy bodied ones.... I think I had better take a pic of all 4 of mine together now having a little group hug ..... BTW I have booked in the neck of my latest one to be epoxied by HG Thor, so now I just have to wait and wait.... BTW-2- I was quoted a deposit of $3k (when the exchange rate was waaaay better) before I could even start to spec a GG 5 bass, and then there was pretty much no limit ( a bit like buying a Rolls Royce, "if you have to ask how much it is, you cant afford it!"). P-O-T, I've not see a Chery Red one, I'm not normally a 'red' person but that is very attractive..... Dodge's Curly is perdy isn't it .....

Flat wounds on an acoustic bass guitar
The Burpster replied to Pookus's topic in Accessories and Misc
1/2rounds are still available.... Flats sound really nice on an accoustic, just make sure it can deal with the added tension. I use nylon wound flats on mine which give an 'upright' kinda tone..... -
Sorry but small and accoustic just dont work with the bass. Short scale might but I'm not aware of any.....

Yam v Fender debate..... hmmmmm interesting... I believe you'll find them very different. Buying a Yam is buying what you know to be an efficient package that works as it is, but buying a Fender is more than that. Its about finding a soul mate. You may have to try a few MIM F's to find one you like the feel of, and from that build a stablemate that ticks all your boxes and when its sat on a stand screams at you 'PICK ME UP AND PLAY ME!'.... Buying a Yam is a bit like buying a Jap car, it works (brilliantly) but has very little soul or character, you can jump into your neighbours (same) car and it will feel and drive the same..... Buying a Fender (wherever it comes from) is like buying a 2 seater convertible (commonly and wrongly refered to as 'sports cars'), you can look at them all but, only one is really gonna get you hot under the collar. Even then you'll want to lavish attention on it and make it 'yours'.... Will anyone notice? your band may say "oooooh thats nice" once but that wil be it. Will who you play to notice? Probably not, but I will tell you what they will notice..... ......The difference between your playing if you're playing something that just functions, and somthing that you love playing..... why? Because you're playing will reflect it...... Just my ramblings FWIW

PRS CE 22 with Birds
The Burpster replied to ray_6ao7's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
You can get CEs with birds, its not unusual.
+1 to that, and the Classic Electric 24 has been around a LONG time..... Great guitar and thats not a bad price..... Shame its not a Swamp Ash Special, as my g-tarist would be snapping a hand or two of around now...! BTW did he flog his MM sig yet? -

1. try not to get too caught up on 'who's blues is best' listen to the original greats but remember alot of that real early stuff was done on uprights, so dont get too hooked up in trying to get 'that sound'..... (unless you have an EUB ) 2. Dont be busy unless the piece demands it... its better to leave gaps as long as the timing stays put. Try to avoid fancy fills when the g'tarist is doing his iddly widdly bits (its wasted) and remember you can alter the mood by altering your volume ( I love my vol. pedal ). 3.Feel the music as a whole and try not to be too technical, it sounds forced..... MHO FWIW
I don't care how great it sounds-I still think it's one of the most hideous things ever to have four (or five, or for that matter any amount of) strings. The body looks like a bog seat and the headstock looks like Peppa Pig (those with kids will understand). Apologies to Bongo lovers-but then us Precision lovers have to take enough insults!
I dont think that was unpleasent, actually in some ways its quite accurate.... Beauty however, is in teh eye of the beholder and wouldnt it be a very sad place if we all liked the same.....? e.g. I would have never got hold of ANY PRSs because no one would be selling them....

There are few B2As, they do a D-tuner model and 5 string ones too... Also different colors.... Any chance of a couple of pics? Oh and someone ought to give the ungrateful little blighter a kick in the shins..... FYI I had a B2B and it was a great little beast (before I sold it to Woolleydick) these are great fun.

As you're a newbie I wont be sarcastic..! They make fabulous basses! There are some huge devoted fans of them on here and I'm sure one will be along in a second or two Outtoplayjazz owns lots of them and swears by them. The few I've had a noodle with have been very well made, played well and very funky looking machines...... In fact if I wasnt so devoted to the products of Mr Smith I would no doubt have at least one of them ( A streamline )
