I think that what he is doing is great to bring awareness about a purveyor of top end goods who is ripping people off without any cares - and who btw way has a supremely worse attitude than the guy we're talking about here - he brags about his cars and homes like a cheesy pimpin' G as justification of him being right/better.
I'm not sure he is..... there are far better, more cost effective, and highly disruptive ways of 'getting ones revenge' than gobbing off about it..... 2.
Ooops. Look what I collected yesterday (No. Not the rug!) That's me out of fashion again But given that the only viable alternative was a Steinberger.... I guess it's not so bad
Alex I hate you for doing that..... I must cadge a go off you, but I know as soon as I do I'll want one......
 3.
Sitting at home learning to play an instrument, by definition, makes us all uncool. We should be leaning up against a 1950's US Muscle car smoking Marlbroughs.
And learning to spell........
 4.
Buying a bass unseen from the USA is hugely risky (as I famously found out), not simply because of the distance, but because of the varying (but usually seller-protecting) legal systems there. If you do it, you accept the risks (as I did). If you don't think ebay's risky, then you're essentially a naive fool who's waiting to be ripped off, and there's loads of sellers there (and here) queueing up to do so. Just check out most USA dealers' descriptions and T&Cs, which together often amount to "even if it's useless, you can't legally get your money back".
Ahhhhh but Chris it can sooooo rewarding.... I wouldnt have had that wonderful Fender P and 3 of my PRSs now if I hadnt been prepared to "take the risk".... Having said that I did get stuffed for £800 as well (but just got the last of that back thanks to a very nice detective in Tulsa OK) I frimly believe in the adendum, "if its too good to be true it almost ceratinly is...." I believe our ebay friend fell for that hook line and sinker, and now he wants to air his disgust rather than admit he's been a bit of a plonker..... Some folks want to blame everyone else for thier own errors, and this is normally hereditry..... He wont be wound up at all, as he firmly beieves the other guy is wrong and not him for not being thorough before parting with his dosh......... Anyhoo bud how you keepin?
 5.
Well if its any consolation to anyone who still doesn't quite see the funny side of it, I was caught out in a major way myself this morning by a close friend. I fell for it mainly because I didn't think they knew about April Fools and served me up my worst nightmare on a plate! Just goes to show eh?
CK, Not the "I hope you like the patter of tiny feet" talk eh....? Bob.....
 6. Take the grill off spray it Matt black and then it'll look kick ass..... (it cant be a true Black Beauty with a silver grill!)
 7.
Hi Burpster Can you tell me, did you have the Rotosounds long enough to be able to comment on the difference in sound between those and the Daddario's ? Cheers Steve
Steve, yeah I did with the Rotos.... the Fenders lasted about 2 weeks, they just were like cheesewire on my fingers. In fairness I did only try the one set of Rotos so other sets might be different. Theyh definately had a feelable gap between the ribbon edges and when sliding this made my fingers raw very quickly.. Tonally the Rotos were quite nice and muddy but tactially a big nah ahh from me. The nylonwound Rotos are great but HUGE guage..... Nowhere near as nice in feel or tone as the GHS nylonwound 45-100s
 8.
Let's see if there's a reply to "Do u no anywun that cud do a relic job on this i rekon it would look wikkid"...
Apparently we're wasting his time........ Is he not wasting his own by putting it on and being the butt of our humour?
 9. FWIW I use predominantly flatwounds so have tried quite a few. I have settled with GHS and D'addario. Mostly because although they are quite bright initially they 'dirty up' after a couple of weeks. This then makes a wonderful tone that I am happy with. Status and DR boht make nice ones too but stay a bit too brite for my liking. Roto's and Fenders I just dont get on with, they feel very rough under my fingers. Hope that helps.
 10. I've merged both of these threads and put them in the appropriate forum.
 11.
I was talking to an old friend in a pub the other night who works ‘in the industry’, pretty much as a freelance A&R type (for both indie and major labels) and in artiste management. He was drinking with a guy who manages lots of nu metal type bands (some that you may have heard of) and who has had some degree of success. Anyway, my mate said that I would be shocked at the level of playing of the bands that he deals with (we’re talking about mainly rock and metal here) and that standards have dropped dramatically from when I was around 20 years ago! So, is he right? Is it true that the 20 somethings can’t play as well as their counterparts from 10 or 20 years ago?
Pete, If you beileve my g'tarist there has been little 'talented' music made since 1975......... In some ways I have an elemnet of agreement with him but otherways, he is sooo wrong. I feel the fundamental differance between now and then was that rather than know the physics of sound creation, artists honed their craft to perfection and played more..... Now music is broken down into channels and frequencies, and can be 'cleaned up' digitally..... negating the need to be perfect craftsmen of thier tools.... does this make young musicians lazy? No just different...... I feel that now is just a diferent time, with WAaaaay more information available, and in some ways its too easy..... Just my view FWIW.
 12. Watch the next question I'm going to wind him up.......
 13. Very easy to deal with....!
 14. JB I've PM'd you......

It is now in bass heaven.
I almost shed a tear when I saw that ........ What a cunch of bunts....... I hope you got compo ffrom them- that was a sweet P.....
 18. 2 things..... 1. off to the tech section..... 2. I'm not familiar with the Aguillar II does it have an internal pot to adjust what part of mids its boosts? My PRS pre amps have an adjuster pot on the PCB that you can adjust up or down wher you want the boost to start.... if yours has such a pot you can try turning it up so that it boosts higher up teh frequency band......?
 19. Marc, if that was in the combo I'dve been biting your hand off..... Good luck..... Is that what I think it is in your new avatar....?
 20. Off to the ebay section I fink....

http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0990665050 This says it all really and theres little point in taking a pic of it as its EXACTLY the same as the one in the ad page above. £25 & P+P which is pretty damn cheap for a bit of genuine F kit.....
