I had a 2014 Walnut SG Std. that was nice. But I'm an old EB0 player from 1969, so Heritage Cherry is my old thing. The 2015 SG Std.'s have the Babicz Full Contact Bridge, heavier wiring, a stronger input jack, a full size one piece finer sanded, and oiled Rosewood fretboard, a stronger hardshell case, and the trapezoid inlays are now real Mother Of Pearl. Any of the SG series basses will play well. Some of the frets on the SG Specials have a bit of a rougher edge to them. Some, not all. Gibson also say's they on the 2015 SG Std.'s they have done a Comprehensive Setup, with the frets.
