1.
My 2014 American Standard which I got in January, only upgrades are a set of Fender straplocks & Fender flatwound bass strings.
Nice looking bass man.
 2. I'd have to go with Andy Travis, the Tort with the Shoreline Gold (or close to it).
 3. I'd go with, sold one, and bought this one.
 4. If it comes with a gig bag, instead of a case.
 5. I had a GL Sunburst, and thought it looked really good.
 6. You have one nice looking Precision there Number6. Best of playing with it.
 7.
I've been through a lot of basses over the past 20 years but my '64 Jazz still remains my go to bass.
Boy, they sure do those Road Worn models pretty good. Just kidding! That's a real Righteous Player! Fantastic!
 8.
So after much deliberation i have treated myself to a MIM Precision in Arctic White and Maple with a Fender fitted case. Now here is the confession.....this is my first P since i've played bass Anyway i am very pleased with it and gave it a thorough look over and play before deciding it was the one. Obviously knowing that the Mex construction sometimes comes in for criticism i am really impressed with the quality, fit n fix and the set up. I also got a fantastic deal at the DV247 store in Romford with the bass and case bought at a great price They also had a good selection of basses (mostly Fender) available to try. A 3 year guarantee too Anyway i'm happy ☺
WOW! You know I'm going to tell ya', Beautiful! Congrats on your first Precision? Cool. I really like Arctic White with Maple. I like the White PG on it also.
 9.
Fraser/Bruce/Pappalardi-tastic!
That's some Righteous names there.
 10.
It was action/playability I was wondering about.
The action is quick. The neck feels very good. With my smaller sized hands, and fingers the girth of the neck is very slight. Fretboard radius is 12", and again with short fingers, the flatter board plays great! The Babicz Bridge is a real plus, and has a shim plate that can be removed if you want to lower the string elevation height.
 11.
That's really nice - more comparative info would be great when you're ready.
That's about all the info I can give you by just playing it. It is more like a active, than a passive sound.
 12.
Looks awesome. What are the pickups like in the modern ones?
The new pups are more like active pups, then the older ones were. I left the settings on the amp set from the last Fender played through the Hartke. For just playing the SG Std. in the house, I had to cut the volume down to about 2 for both pups. The Fenders volumes were set on about 6.
 13. The SG Std. was delivered late Tuesday. A bit to late to do anything, other than give it a good looking over. It looks great! It even fits in the case right.
 14.
Actually thinking of having a punt and getting one of the 2014 specials in fireburst or chocolate from PMT. Only problem is I'd have to order on-line without going in store so I might end up with one with naff frets. I wonder why there isn't a 2015 special model?
I not sure what Gibson is doing with Specials anymore. I thought they were going to do Specials, but without cases. I saw that somewhere a few months ago.
 15.
That is just stunning. I've been GASing for an SG for a while now and I think the time is finally here. Think I might go for last year's model because I really like the walnut finish that they don't seem to do the 2015 in. I wonder how these compare with the SG specials? Half the price for a very pretty satin fire burst model is tempting.
I had a 2014 Walnut SG Std. that was nice. But I'm an old EB0 player from 1969, so Heritage Cherry is my old thing. The 2015 SG Std.'s have the Babicz Full Contact Bridge, heavier wiring, a stronger input jack, a full size one piece finer sanded, and oiled Rosewood fretboard, a stronger hardshell case, and the trapezoid inlays are now real Mother Of Pearl. Any of the SG series basses will play well. Some of the frets on the SG Specials have a bit of a rougher edge to them. Some, not all. Gibson also say's they on the 2015 SG Std.'s they have done a Comprehensive Setup, with the frets.
 16. I ordered this SG Std. to replace the one I sold. It should be delivered Monday.
 17. This SG Std. really got my attention. I was going to replace the one I sold a while ago anyway, so it should be here Monday.
 18. I don't think I'll replace my 2014 MIM GL Jazz for the US GL Jazz. I like the thinner neck profile on my MIM GL I play now.
 19. I sold my previous Olympic White Am. Std. Precision to friend. I replaced it the other day with this Precision. I like the grain on the head also.
