1. I really like the sounds from the Eminence speakers used in the TC Electronic cabs.
2. I added a second BC212 cab to the setup. The 2X212's sound great with the Fenders I'm playing through them.
3. I believe you're right about them being released about the same time, but TCE isn't showing the Classic in the amp line anymore.
4. You're Classic 450 issue, may be the reason it was somewhat discontinued for the newer RH450. I'm using a RH450 with 2 BC212 cabs. Works great. I'd look into having it repaired, as long as it's way under the cost of a new replacement.
5. After going through a lot of basses, I've come to the realization, I just like playing the Fender Am. Std. basses. I have three, that's all I need.
6.
There really is no end to the amount of cracking basses you get through
I sold the Ric for many American dollars. That gave me enough to go with the Precision, and the Jazz. The three Fenders I'm playing now are some good players. All three go through the TCE amp great too.
7. After playing a few basses, my ultimate bass is the Fender Am. Std. Series Basses. My Olympic White Jazz is the top dog.
8.
Although of course Japanese models, historically, either MIJ or CIJ, are arguably as good if not better players than their US counterparts ???
I think that's more opinion than fact. My Am. Std. is as good as any. I've seen, and played some MIM's that were right on. The Roger Waters Precision for one, is a great playing well made MIM Precision.
9. I'm more of an Am. Std. Jazz player, but I have one Am. Std. Precision that's great!
10.
Matte black single ply.
The matte black PG looks good on the darker blue.
11.
Lovely bass, but one request; Please stop deleting the photos from the image host when you change basses, it's killing my "enjoyment" of the porn section hitting all those nasty black squares where pics used to be.
I did delete some, but I also had a major loss of all pics on a photo service site.
12. That looks really good. I used the same basic White Pearl PG on my Precision to replace the original Tort PG.
13. I went back to an Am. Std. Olympic White Precision. This took the place of the Gibson EB 2014. The EB 2014 Sounded good, but the fret job was a bit to high on the fretboard. I also prefer the rolled edges of the Am. Std.'s fretboard.
14. Congrats! Great looking PBass.
15. I'm going with the BC212. The BC212 should be in tomorrow.
16. I'm thinking about adding the BC212 cab to my BC410 cab.
17. Because it's there, and why not.
18. In the early days of the EB0 basses, most players held the bass more like a standup bass, while strapped to the shoulder. So, there was no neck dive. The basses started to be played more like a regular guitar. Enter neck dive.
19. Thanks Billy for the clarification of the strap string usage. It works for the player I mentioned, using the string on the head stock on his SG Std. I looked at the string and thought, why not, some acoustic guitars weigh about as much, or more than an SG Std. Old school Roadies look at things differently.
20. I think the RH450 is right on. Even if you don't use some of the extras on board, the stuff you do use is good.
21.
Hi mate, I have an sg standard, it's not so much the neck dive , more the flopping forward where the strap pin is positioned at the bass of the neck rather than the top horn, I thought of screwing the pin to the top horn but it's very thin there where it goes to a point... I wasn't keen on the look of the Ebs but the more I look at yours..
That's always been a bit of an issue with SG/EB series basses. I had a 1969 EB0 that if I remember correctly, had less neck dive with the strap pin in the same location as the present day SG Std.'s. I think the body was heavier. The top horn on the EB 2014 being more like a Jazz bass helps. A longer distance decreases the angle. I suggested to one SG Std. bass player I know to use the string intended for an acoustic guitar that came with the strap. It worked fine. There aren't to many places you can relocate the front strap pin on an SG Std.'s body.
22.
How do you get on with it flopping forward on the strap ? Any tips on avoiding this ?
Hi, are you asking me about neck dive on the EB 2014? It has a slight neck dive, but it is not noticeable when playing. For Gibsons with "Neck Dives of Death", I like using a strap with a rough leather on the inside of the strap. It adds some friction to hold the Axe in place better, without any slippage on the shoulder. Even my SG Std. when I play it, I don't feel the neck dive.
