1. I play nearer to the bridge for a thinner tone.
2. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/274438-p-bass-with-slim-neck/ maybe you guys could buy basses and just swap necks.
3. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/274225-jazz-bass-with-a-precision-size-neck/ maybe you guys could buy basses and just swap necks.
4. Congratulations. My 2013 American Standard Jazz is currently the favourite of my basses. I love the tone with all the controls wide open. Enjoy.
5.
My ACG 7 custom has a Matt black finish pretty much: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/portfolio/0090-recurve-sc-s-type-7-string-lh/ As you can see it looks awesome.
That is a beast of a bass!
6.
I Have a matt black bass. Fingerprints aren't a problem. However after 10+ years the matt finish has evolved into a satin in various places where it is being polished by my playing.
Yeah, my stealth Bongo is getting a bit shiney where my forearm rubs on the body. I still love the Matt finish though.
7. I can't stand that stupid pickup cover on a Ric. Transparent white finishes that show the wood grain underneath, it reminds me of whitewash used on windows. Extended range basses with more than 6 strings, you might as well play the harp or a piano. The horrid bridges on Traben basses. Mudbucker pickups, fretless basses and the awful headstock on the D. Lakin basses. I'm sure there are more.
8.
When are these ruddy couriers going to start doing such a good job that it's a negligible risk to send anything anywhere? Why should it be at either the seller or the buyer's own risk? Something is rotten about the whole thing. I should be able to send a reasonably packed duck egg via a courier and expect it to be in one piece at the other end AND if it's broken whilst in the possession of the courier then it's THEIR fault - shouldn't need insurance for that.
I totally agree with this. It's a shame that we have to pay extra money to take out insurance to protect us incase the company screw up. When you pay for something to be delivered it should be in the same condition as you sent it. Imagine being in a restaurant and the waiter drops your steak on the floor, picks it up, puts it back on your plate and then serves it to you. "Sorry Sir, you didn't pay the extra £3 to insure your steak. Bon Apetite!"
9. Have you got a 5 string? A lot of the worship bassists use them according to talkbass.
10. I'm not really a fan of natural finishes, but that grain is stunning! Glwts
11. Nice! Are those strings Rotosound nexus? They look the same as a set ive got on one of my bongos.
12.
Yup! The Musicman forum ban people for things like modding MM instruments!
Is this true?

14. up there with the best jazzes in the world!
15. If you are looking for an aftermarket pickguard. I got one off eBay from cwgp2010. They are in the Netherlands. Mine was for a MIM Jazz. The price was good and it fit without any modifications.
