3. I've got a pair of these which are not being used. I've used them occaisionaly with a Markbass head for bass. Great as an extension cab or bass monitor as there are no crossovers. £175 each + p&p Manufacturer description The Electro-Voice Sb121 bass module is a compact, lightweight woofer system that is designed to add bass. The Sb121 combines the advantages of a long-throw woofer with a lightweight, yet strong polypropylene enclosure. The large vent centered on the top of the front helps the woofer move more air. The EV Sb12 woofer was developed specially for the Sb121 and has a specially designed deep frame geometry. At the heart of this driver is a magnetic structure optimized to yield the best possible combination of performance and output capable in this enclosure size. Its Kevlar composite cone and special surround give it nearly 2 inches of total excursion capability. The enclosure can be stacked, stand-mounted and safely suspended. The Sb121 is a truly professional high-performance woofer system. * Width 16.9 in * Depth 12.3 in * Height 23.1 in * Weight 32.2 lbs * Speaker System * Speaker Type Passive * Nominal (RMS) Output Power 300.0 Watt * Max (RMS) Output Power 1200.0 Watt * Response Bandwidth -555.0 Hz * Input Impedance 8.0 Ohm * Output Level (SPL) 126.0 dB * Sensitivity 95.0 dB

 10.
Mr Bassman has sent me a Bassmax and a Planet. I'm reminded that I had a Planet once and now having put it on my bass I'm reminded why I sold it! The Bassmax I liked a lot, surprisingly good for an inexpensive pickup so now I'm putting out a wanted ad for one (Mr B's was attached to a mic). So thanks a lot Keith for your kindness.
Thanks for returning the pups Roger. Glad you liked the Bassmax And thank you for your generosity covering the postage, you didn't have to. Mrs Bassman & I will enjoy a drink on you this evening
 11. I wouldn't mind trying one of these I'll take it if it's still available please cheers Keith

 14.
Hi Keith Your post has reminded me just how many pickups have gone through my hands. Perhaps I should have kept them on the basis that we are never really happy with our rigs and things constantly change. I wonder whether you could trust me for a while with the bass max - which I have never tried - and possibly a planet as long as it isn't fatter than 5mm because I don't want to enlarge my wing slots unneccessarily. I'll PM you with my details. R
I've also got another Upton Rev solo, not sure if it's the one I got from you. I've got a real busy day tomorrow so it might be Saturday or Monday before I can get stuff posted. I'll do me best. Keith
 15.
Hi both. I'm in West London, just a couple of stops down the M1 from North Sheffield ;o). Yes, it can be bowed, there's an arch to the aluminium bridge, and the bevelled fingerboard gives enough separation to the strings. Not as marked as on a DB, but it's there. I think 'interesting beast' is damn good description. It's interesting, rather than much good. It's awkward to play, has a buzz in the pegbox that I can't sort, and the sound from the pick up is ... e-bassy. It's NOT a Stagg, or an SLB. But it's a cool bit of British memorabilia, and probably a serviceable EUB with some work. I'm not selling it very well am I!? But I can't help thinking an EUB fan might kind of like it for interest's sake.
I'm curiously interested, would yo ship to Yorkshire? I don't think I could get excited enough to drive down 200 miles & back but for a few quid for a courier I might take a chance. Have you any pics of the neck, scroll, back & front? cheers Keith
 16.
My new bass is a bit 'bright' for my preferred Underwood. Sounds great with a mic but I need to find a pickup that will give me plug-in-and-play convenience when required. I don't want to go through the PU merrygoround again so was wondering if any kind BCer would lend me a Realist for a week. I'll pay all postage of course.
Hi Roger, I've not got a realist but could lend you a K&K Golden Trinity bassmax + mic if you haven't already got one. I'm impressed with the bassmax, darker than Underwood, I can plug direct into amp with no pre and get a happy sound. As for the mic, nice for home recording or into pa Apart from that I've got a couple Rev solo, (which I got one from you iirc,) and sounds amazing atached to my Ampeg Baby Bass, a Planet single paddle which came with the Kolstien, (probably too bright for you) but you can try if you like, and a full circle atached to my Kolstien which I couldn't detatch. Best Keith
 17. Pete offered some double ball ended strings f.o.c. so I thought I'd try them on my headless twin neck. Pete's so kind and generous he he insisted on paying the postage! Many thanks Pete, will make a donation to Basschat. Keith
 18. HI clarky, I've had a busy gig weekend so I've just seen this thread. I was wondering how you got on. Did you not use the notch filter on the Coda? Should be able to dial out any rogue frequency, And raising the Coda off the floor reduces boom and gets it closer to your ears Another suggestion is having an extension speaker (i.e. 10" mackie) as a monitor on a stand, behind you but above the bass body. You can't stop a good bass picking up a loud drumkit, I have to dampen my strings with both hands during the dreaded drum solo! Taken from the Coda manual Tilt Mechanism In some settings, such as a hollow stage or small, “boomy” room, your amp or enclosure will produce too much bass. One way to cut unwanted bass output is to use the built in tiltback feature to lift the front of the cabinet, reducing the coupling to the floor. To do this, pull the stand into its forward position and set the combo in place on the floor. The stand is spring loaded so when you pick up the unit, the stand will spring back into its storage position. You may want to use the tilt stand at all times in order to aim the high frequency output of the speaker toward your ear so that you can better hear the amp. Notch/Low Cut Filter The notch/low cut filter is a fixed amplitude, variable frequency type that inserts either an 18 dB cut or a 12 dB per octave rolloff at frequencies between 30 and 800 Hz, depending on the position of the control. Approximate frequency settings are noted on the frequency control. Note that the first half of the control’s rotation affects frequencies from 30 to 70 Hz, the last half of the rotation affects frequencies between 70 and 800 Hz. This is done so that there is plenty of control in the critical low frequency range. The notch filter is used to remove a given feedback frequency to reduce feedback “howl”. The low cut filter is used to reduce the bass output in cases where room location or instrument/pickup combination results in “boomy” sound. To use either, push the on/off switch to turn on the filter circuit then select the filter type using the notch/cut switch. Start with the control fully counterclockwise and gradually turn it clockwise until the desired effect is achieved. Experiment with the position of the control to give you the sound you like best. You've had a lot to contend with in the last week or so, it takes time to get to know new gear. You've got it all at your fingertips, but under pressure it's not easy to get the most out of what you have, The plat pro usually sorts my gremlins without too much amp twiddling, but I'll say it again, if that bass drum is too loud / close you've no chance. Either position yourself away from the kit or sack the drummer!
 19.
I spotted it at Musikmesse and discussed the supply/price situation for the UK. I will hopefully have realistic confirmation of this before too long. I spoke with the European Product Manager on this model, who told me that the 'LTD' edition is to mark the 10th anniversary of the SLB. I have to say that my impression was that some serious thought had gone in to the design with respect to the detail, such as the bridge. Here are a few hasty snaps that I took of this rare beastie. Phil
Nice one Phil now did you manage to smuggle me one for a grand?
 20. This looks like it could be the LTD I've never been too keen on Chris Minh Doky's sound, but then he'd probably laugh if he heard me play! And another link

 22. I organise about 150 jazz / blues / function gigs a year and regularly receive c.d.'s from singers / bands wanting gigs. I can't think of one I'd want to listen to from start to finish. Anyone can make a c.d. nowadays, few have what it takes to perform live. I dread to think how many times other disappointed promoters have told me "but their c.d. sounded o.k.!" I've been stitched up in the past with glossy promo packages and learned my lesson, I'm only interested in real performers who can connect with the audience. My advice is get some gigs and experience, don't waste your time (and other peoples) or money recording covers that you cannot perform live. If you haven't got a gig, well go out and get one, book your village hall or squash club and invite all your friends and family. If you're any good you'll get spin-off gigs, if you're sh*te, well don't give up your day job (just yet) but don't give up hope! If you've got something original, well that's a different matter! Go for it!
 23. Just seen this thread Clarky, are you sorted yet? I've several options if not.
