Just done a dodgy deal in a car park with a shady character who goes under the name of Clarky. We exchanged a couple of instruments, shook hands and drove our separate ways off into the sunset. Nice to meet you Clarky Top bloke!

Eminence removable neck 4-string upright bass

Just got back from a rendezvous with Clarky. He brought the Bacchus to show me along with some other interesting toys. It's a beautiful instrument, well built, nicely finished, the sleek neck with dark rosewood board has a real vintage vibe to it. I was very tempted to bring it home but Mrs B said I couldn't have it 'cos I've already got a blue one! This is a fantastic instrument for the money, I would think better than a lot of Fenders out there. The new owner will not be disappointed.

Wal Mk 2 in American Walnut * SOLD PENDING *
Mr Bassman replied to Clarky's topic in Basses For Sale
PS, not looking for any trades here unless it involves an Ampeg Baby Bass (Keith!)
I thought you just sold this one? I like the look of it, but you just sold me a fretless which has inspired me to play lots of out of tune, inappropriate licks at the annoyance of other band members And I've got the Ampeg sounding as good as my best upright acoustic (amplified), secret ingredient! Have you tried Dave Swift? He had two or three Ampegs and one of them might have been for sale. Good luck with the sale of the Wal, I bet it's a real nice instrument! -
They're certainly a rare beast, and this one may be the only lined one in existence. The previous owner had it lined by top luthier Chris Larkin. I've just got back from a few days break, but this beauty is in our Harrogate showroom and ripe for plucking any time from tomorrow onwards! Basschat discount available of course
I've been itching for one of these for a while. I kept looking at this one and eventually contacted Phil to arrange a visit to his showroom. Phil was happy to make an evening appointment which suited me best. Well, I was knocked out by the variety of high end quality instruments on show plus some tasty amps & cabs. After an hour or so of me plonking on the Takamine + other top quality basses I was starting to feel liked I'd overstayed my welcome, but unlike your usual music shop Phil was cool and suggested I took the bass home and spend a few days with it. So we put it in the back of my car and went for a pint. (or two) Mrs Bassman likes it Do I like it enough? Took it to a gig where I struggle with upright acoustic because of volume / feedback. it sounded great! I played the first set and most of the second upright, the last two numbers as bass guitar sat on a stool. I found I was playing sharp 'cos of the shorter scale, but it was fun to play. It's got black plastics strings on which are impossible to bow, might try some other flats. Anyway, after having the bass for a couple of weeks I decided to go for it. Phil is a great guy to deal with, and go for a pint (or two) with. Check him out with confidence!

I have the same problem with those original knobs That's a great idea Gareth and I think it looks better with the new knobs! -
Is this one they made up in their workshop.......whoops, did I say that out loud?
I wandered around their shop in Doncaster a few years ago and came across a workshop where they were assembling Hofner violin basses. I wonder how many fakes are out there? -

Shouldn't there be a date stamped on the end?
Looks like 10 61 hand written

*GONE* GENZ BENZ Shuttle 3.0/10T *GONE*
Mr Bassman replied to Gareth Hughes's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Hey Keith - the cab hasn't gone but it does have dibs on it, so looking for someone to buy the head separately. Just saw you have a Markbass LMK head too. Great heads also.
I haven't used the LMK in ages, I've got a GK MB210 which I've been using for BG, but I might give the LMK an airing this weekend with the new fretless P I just got from Clarky -
The 'I'm halfway down the page' bump.
I've got the Shuttle 3 8t, I was thinking of adding a Genz 10 to it, has the cab gone? I agree about the knobs, can't see where they're set at, have to feel for the groove with my thumbnail! Apart from that they're a great lightweight head for upright or Fender bass. -
Pity it won't fit. Alas, I'm too far away from Alex for a mod. btw, your problem with the Doubler having only one speakon out was why I insisted to Alex that he put two speakons on my midget. Why they're not standard on Alex's cabs I can't understand. I certainly wouldn't buy one without.
You can buy a "top hat" from Maplin for the price of a couple of pints.

Just bought Peters Contra Ex cab and it arrived well packed, exactly as described. It's a pleasure to do business with him, deal with confidence! Keith

Just thought I'd put a link to this fretted EUB on here. I've had the pleasure of playing this bass when Matt brought it round to my house. It's unique, well built, sounds great, easy to play and comes with a gig bag. I'm tempted myself but I've overspent just lately and should be trying to move stuff on rather than buy. Don't hesitate to buy from Matt, he's a nice guy and very trustworthy!
