Funny you guys should mention it, Ive just had to learn "Aint Nobody" for my band, ill see if I can transcribe it for you - its pretty easy though, its in E Minor I believe its as follows: VERSE: Em7 D7 Em7 D7 Captured effortlessly, that’s the way it was C Bm7 C D7 Happened so naturally, I did not know it was love Em7 D7 Em7 D7 The next thing I felt was you, holding me close CΔ Bm7 CΔ D7 What was I gonna do? I let myself go B7 CΔ And now we're flyin' through the stars D7 Em7 I hope this night will last forever CHORUS: Em7 D7 Am7 C7 Ain't nobody, Loves me better Em7 D7 Am7 C7 D7 Makes me happy, Makes me feel this way Em7 D7 Am7 C7 D7 Em7 Ain't nobody, loves me better than you Bridge: Em7 ^D6 |Am7 –C7 | -
Hi Nathan, Whereabouts are you in the country mate? I have a pair of Warwicks sitting happily alongside my Vigier 5, and I have to admit I am a MASSIVE fan of the Streamers. If you are ever in Berkshire or near Windsor you are more than welcome to come and have a cuppa and a play of them! I currently have a Streamer LX 5, and a 4 string Streamer Stage One, and previously owned a Streamer Stage One 5 string. IN all honesty, I couldnt get on with the Hi-Fi sound of the Stage One 5, Im not quite sure what it was about that bass but it didnt "sing" as much as my other warwicks, so I sold it. Anyone who has played my Streamer LX will tell you how good it is, especially Silverfox Nick! The neck on it is a little chunky for some but tonally it growls out like a tiger and sits so well in the mix when the full band come out to play, which is why it was my main gigging bass for so long. It doesnt get much action since I got my vigier, but I am thinking about taking her out for the next lot of gigs I do, its a great bass. All the hardware and specs are standard, and you can hear it in action on my bands myspace (http://www.myspace.com/projecthirteen) The other Streamer I own is a Stage One 4 string, Maple Neck Thru, with EMG P/J pickups and Aguilar 2 Band Pre - and tonally, its Vicious! You can coax some very good Stuart Zender Esque tones out if it, the neck is slimmer than most Warwicks although it is a little deeper in feel. I find that the Treble can be a bit of a bitch to tame sometimes, the preamp is so powerful it can fool you when on stage. Have a listen to it here and you will see what I mean - I thought the treble sounded okay on stage, but from the recording it is WAAAY to high for my liking and thats with the tone and treble on halfway! http://media.putfile.com/Projec13---Too-Yo...o-Die-live-2008 The best thing you can do is play a bunch of Warwicks and see what you like - Heck, I may even be persuaded to Part with my Stage One if you like it, I dont mind hanging onto it but it doesnt get played much and its a shame as its a great bass. Good luck with your hunt and if you want to come and play some German wood, drop me a PM!

I dont know what my measurements are as I havent checked but I have long fingers, my Nan said they where "piano" fingers (funny as I started my musical life on keys!). Yes, I do use my pinky - I never used to, but I found as my technique evolved it became more and more essential, and now I dont even think about it.

I was raised and studied before EMA was around, and my Parents NEVER CONTRIBUTED A PENNY to my education. When I left school I went striaght to college, but had to get a job at a local supermarket to pay rent to my Mum and for College fees, which weren't a lot but I still had to support myself. Even when I was unemployed I had to pay rent to my folks (same amount as if I had been working full time) and if I couldnt pay it that month, it would get tallied up and I would have to owe it them back. Its only fair I pay my own way after all. It has taught me that you have to support yourself and NEVER rely on other people to support you - its a hard graft in the early years and its only now im earning decent money (at 23) that I can start to enjoy my money more and more. I work for EVERY penny and I expect no less. Students who get given money for studying really gets on my nerves, almost as much as the louts and nobodies that sit around claiming benefits for no good reason and not doing a days graft for it, while I pay well in excess of £1300 a month to the taxman. Anyway, lets get back to talking about Bass and Music!

Some Prince wouldnt go amiss - try "Get on the Boat" or "Lets go Crazy". Jamiroquai - High Times, Runaway, Deeper Underground are all pretty easy. Tower Of Power's "What is Hip" is a very good excersise in getting those 16th notes nice and clean sounding (it seems tough at first but the more you do it the better you get).

Wow, that is a stunner! I bet it costs a nice wedge too.

Ive been playing some more today after being inspired by these vids, just playing along to some Chic and Sister Sledge, and it would appear my playing requires quite a bit of work! You know when you have those days when the brain is willing but the fingers arent? Thats me today. I only hope that one day i can be a tenth as good as these guys are!

Lydia is cool, ive checked out her band a few times - she is very talented, her playing is fantastic and she managed to get that "Mark King" vibe down very well!

Hi All, Ive just been sat here in awe of this guy - great execution, great tone, great playing, great tune and it just gets better as you listen. This guy is mental, I only wish my playing came close to this as he tears a fantastic Ben Harper track up with his skills. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX9C96zwYfQ...ted&search= enjoy!

All I can say Mr Kiwi is that if you ever want to sell your black Cutlass, I want first dibs on it!
-
Nice Pair of Warwicks there, I love the LX5, mine is superb!
-
Nice - Burptastic!
-
Nice, I've had a lot of very good comments about the new addition, and I must say that I am now a proud Vigier owner. Its a cracking bass and delivers pretty much everthing I could ever need from a bass. Kiwi - Love the Cutless 1 (the black one) - so far it is the only MM bass I have been able to play for more than 10 mins without putting it down, its really comfortable to play. Sound wise its very close to a stingray as you would expect, and I would be very happy if I owned one! OldGit - Great to finally meet you and your Shuker Precision is fantastic - just what a 5 string P bass should be like, sounded great, played great, and when I put it through my POD and Dood's Epifani UL610 it sounded MONSTROUS!
-
What did you make of my Vigier Mewsie? It suited you very well!
-
Cracking day out - good to meet those of you whom i have not met before and good to see those of you who I have met! Nice to see some more Vigier love going around the board fraternity, and was a great day out - highlights where generally everything, im not going to post any favourite basses etc as it will only give me more GAS and there are many basses I liked. Liked Merton's Status Retro Active J, lovely tone, and liked Kiwi's Cutlass 1 MM, and the usual Vigier love. Feeling suitably knackered now though!

The reason Im not keen on naming and shaming is because I dont want to land the forum in hot water on the off chance any of the management happen to frequent the forum - we have had some estabilishments contact us about some comments mademon here pertaining to the reputation of said business, and although these are my opinions and do not reflect the board in general I would rather play it safe. If i had the time or was terribly bothered I would write to them, but in honesty I will just avoid that place altogether.

Hi Guys, I was in a music shop in Reading the other day, I wont name which one, but I have to say it left me a little bit sour. I saw a lovely Fender P Bass, think it was a 62 RI, in fiesta red with a Gold anodized plate, it looked amazing. I thought I would ask if I could give it a play, and the attendant merely looked at me and said "well, you're not going to buy it are you, so why bother?" I responded with "well I wont be buying it if I get attitude like that will I? I wont buy it if i cant play it". The attendant begrudgingly handed me the bass and plugged it into a small bass combo, and I began to play it. It sounded immense, the action was super low and slick, and I was at this point considering buying the bass there an then as it just ticked all the boxes that a P bass should tick. I was mighty suprised to find that the bass was a Mexican model, the quality of the build and finish was unlike any MIM fender ive played, so I thought "right, ill have it". That is until I spoke to the attendant once more. I asked what the price was of the bass, and he said "£650 with a hard case", I thought it was a bit too steep for a MIM fender, and I asked the attendant why it was so costly as Mexican fenders dont tend to be that costly. He said "Well look, I can tell you arent serious about buying this bass, and I knew when you walked in you where a time waster, so if you dont mind ill have the bass now to give it a good polish to get your grubby finger marks off it". I simply stood up, handed the bass back, and said "good luck selling this bass with that attitude". What the bloody hell does he think he can achieve by speaking to me like a piece of crap? Perhaps he wanted the bass for himself, but you can bet your bottom dollar I wont be shopping in there again.

Sweet bass that, sweet as a nut!

Thanks for the kind words folks, once again thanks Ped for selling me such a wicked bass at such a great price! Im looking forward to adding the finger puppet to the bass, hopefully it will improve my technique by endless amounts! Ped, you really are spoiled with that CRACKING fretless and 4 string Vigier - i must admit, the fretless is so far my number one favourite out of all the fretless basses ive played.
Luke, You're very kind with your praise for the book! It was a labour of love, and the feedback that I've had from it, both from basschatters and members of other forums has always been overwhelming. At some point I'll be following it up with 'Ultimate Tapping for Bass', or something like that! Best, Stu
No worries mate, as I said before (excuse the typo mentioned previously) the book is fantastic and a good resource for all levels of skill. If you write a book on tapping etc, i'd buy it! I've bought a few books from you since the slap book and all have been superb, really enjoying the Bernard Edwards book.

Same here Nick, will be good to catch up mate! Ive been playing with sounds and managed to tame the treble on this beast now, so it gives a really nice bassy tone - it does a very close impersonation of a Stingray and a Precision sound too, which is nice as Ive always liked those sounds. Its got a certain bounce to it when you slap it too, it just seems to react - and the fact that you can adjust the spring spacing at the bridge means anyone can adjust to suit. Easily the most comfortable 5 string ive played, and ive played plenty. May even be doin a trade for a lovely Bacchus Jazz 5 soon too, so that will mean I will have all 5 string basses and no 4's, which makes more sense to me seeing as i only ever seem to play 5ers nowadays.

Cheers mate, she is a real stunner in the flesh and looks a little more "amber" in normal light, but whatever angle you look it still looks phenominal! Sound wise, it is actually very versatile and the Pre amp is rather unique in that I've never had a bass with a frequency control and a cut/boost switch, and the tone control only affects the rear pickup - but this makes for some interesting results! It is very "clanky" and if you dig in it produces a really nice growly tone, and the action is spot on - handy since the neck relief cannot be adjusted due to the carbon rods in the neck. It has a pretty good tonal pallete, and it just feels so comfortable to play I couldnt put it down all day today whilst at home. Seriously, if you can get to the bash, give it play, its one of the best buy's ive ever had!
