1.
+1 love to play in a disco/funk band aswell as the one im in already. Cant seem to get one started though
Thanks for the comments - its nice to know we are doing something right, I run the band and I must say we are really struggling to get bookings at the moment. I guess the issue is how much we charge, half the band are professional musicians that wont go out for less than £150 a night, so it bumps our price up and thus folks cant afford to hire us. Equally the guys have to make a living - catch 22 situation!
2. Thanks Ped - I will be sad to see this go but my musical needs have changed and the Warwicks just seem to get all the playtime, this is simply too good of a bass to sit on a stand all day looking pretty!
3. Thanks for the good words guys! Fretmeister - String Spacing wise, its actually fully adjustable to suit your taste (with obvious consideration to the neck profile etc), however I find that as it stands, its not too tight for a bit of slapping but also not so wide your fingers are stretching all over the place when you play fingerstyle. I have got the custom specifications somewhere, just need to dig them out and Ill see if I can get them scanned in, you have a PM anyway!
4. Hi Mate! I working in Wigan on tuesday, drop me a PM if you fancy meeting up for a beer monday night (travelling up overnight) - ask Mike too!
5. Hi Guys, Im seriously considering moving on my Vigier Passion Series III 5 string, as I tend to play warwicks so much more than anything else now. Ill only consider letting this go in a trade for a Warwick Streamer Stage 2 5 string, Im not particularly interested in anything else and I would find it hard to let this bass go for anything less as this is an incredible instrument! I may regret this..... I believe this is a 1989 neck thru series 3 which Patrice Vigier doesnt make anymore to my knowledge (Ped will know all about this bass as it was his prior to my ownership!). Its fitted with a set of Elixir Nanowebs that are fairly new, hardly played, and the action is very low - credit card thickness or just under at the 8th fret and there is no buzzing. Its a fast neck and aside from a few very minor cracks in the laquer, this bass looks impeccable for its age. Specs: Serial # - 086 - 23/04/1991 5 string Custom model - Maple/alder/Maple body NECK Neck through body, featuring the 10/90 Neck System™ (10% carbon with 90% naturally dried and aged maple wood). 6. All this wood is giving me GAS....
7. Oh wow, that sei offset 7 stringer is a real beauty! I remember seeing those pics before and thinking it was a cracker then, I'd love to see how it plays in real life. I'm not a 7 stringer by any means, but that could tempt me over to the dark side!

9. Oh, and slap a compressor on it - I find it essntial with my Vigier....
10. WHen you find that "sweet spot" on the EQ for this bass, you will realise that people have a permanent "skydive" face as your bass blasts them to the back of the room! Try boosting the low mids - that helped a lot for me.
11. Cheers Ped, I got all Confuzzled!
12. I have to say, ive always thought of the Vigiers as being a custom and very personal instrument - mine is totally different to any of Ped's or even another Series III that looks the same as mine. They dont sound the same, and ive never seen the EQ system built into mine on any other Vigier. Alex(claber) and I compared our Vigiers at the last national bash, and I recall we both agreed that although they look very similar, they sound different to one another and both play very differently despite a ver similar setup. I mention this because I personally dont worry too much about the different "Series" that Vigier seem to run, I prefer to think of my Vigier as my personal bass. I didnt have it custom built for me, but it suits my every need and is the most comfortable bass ive ever played. Now where's my commision??!!??
13. Forgot to mention, my singer was in the ACM Gospel choir, then left just before the choir went on TV (on The Last Choir Standing). I went along to watch the choir rehearse at the boiler room in Guildford, all of them are fantastic singers!
14. Hamster - I agree, this was a one take recording from a gig and my keys player spends a large amount of his energy bouncing around and going "mad" on stage, so its no surprise he's a little off! Nottswarwick - Thanks mate, my drummer is pretty good, he's the one who took the mix out of the desk and mixed it. Im thinking of using this as our demo to give to agents, is it good enough? I think it is. Backing vocals where performed by myself, our rhythm guitarist and our drummer, with my keys player singing on Lady Marmalade too. Bass rig is just my usual live rig - Vigier into Bass Pod, into Aural Exciter and then into Poweramp which drives my Epifani UL310. The sound on the recording is a DI from the Model output on the back of my bass POD, so you cant hear the aphex or the cab at all, just what the desk was hearing with a touch of emulated Tube pre-amp thanks to the bass Pod!
15. Hi Guys, Ive got a new recording done recently of my funk band live - let me know what you think, honest opinions only please!!! 16. Forgot to mention, nice basses too!
17. I Had a German Shepherd for 14 years - absolutely love those dogs, If my landlord would allow me to keep a og I would have ne of those!
18. That is a seriously good looking bass, and knowing how good Vigiers are Im sure it plays superb! My Passion III 5 string is so good it plays itself. The guys in my band love its sound and everyone loves the looks. Im jealous. Seriously - Vigiers are awesome, im yet to play a bad one.
19. Good to see my old Stingray in safe hands!
20.
Oh that's nice. I bet that sounds amazing.
It does my friend! Ill be bringing it to the SE bash if you can make it?
21. Here's Mine: AKG WMS 400 Wireless into Bass POD XT Pro, into Aural Exciter, into QSC Poweramp and then pumped out of EPifani UL310. The cab weighs less than the rack does!!!
22.
Luke - I nearly went for that Bacchus after it was offered for my Ray - went for the Lakland 55-02 in the end since I already have a Jazz. How's it sound ?
It sounds superb mate - its got all the growl and warmth a Jazz bass should have, although it is a more modern siunding jazz as opposed to a vintage jazz tone. A little bit of a tweak on the EQ and ading a bit of tube warmth brings it to life I think, I can get close to a Marcus Miller tone with it, and it sounds great slapped or with fingers. Im surprised actually, this is the best Jazz type bass I have ever owned! So you dont have your Ray anymore then?
23.
Geddy Lee Jazz - One I loved but could never get along with. Neck changed shape with the weather. Horrendous! Yamaha TRB-6 II. Bought on here from Beneath it all for a song. An awesome bass & I still have it now. One of my regular players. Status S2-Classic. This is my current main bass. Stunning in every respect and a sound to die for! Status Energy Artist 5 with graphite neck. I had this for about 5 days before someone on Statii.com persuaded me to sell it! It was really nice as well. One of the last S1 Jazzes in Candy Cola. The best jazz I've ever played. Stunning sound! (Sold to help fund my 1990 Status S2.) My new KingBass. My pride and joy, this one! The bass I traded the really nice Jazz & Corvette for. The most beautiful Status ever! Marcus Miller Jazz. Now traded for Status S2 5-string. 2008 American Standard Precision. A stunning bass, but not for me. Also traded against the S2 5-string. 2008 Status S2-Classic bolt on 5. This is the latest aquisition I think that's enough to be going on with for the time being! Rich.
WOW! Some seriously good wood there my friend!
24. Nick - I hadn't so much as looked at my Warwick for about 5 months since I got my Vigier, and I thought "sod it, ill take the warwick to the studio this week" and I left the Vigier at home. I had forgotten just how much I love this bass, the way it plays, the thick, growly tones that come out of it, and the way it looks! My Band had a bit of a lineup change just after I got the Vigier, so two of the guys and our singer have never heard the sweet sounds of my Warwick, and they told me to leave the Vigier at home from now on!! Doctor J - The Bacchus is awesome, thank you for being such a trustworthy bloke and making the trade a smooth one, beers all round next time we meet methinks. THe Bacchus is an awesome bass, it has the Jazz tones I was looking for, and I think I am in the very lucky position of being able to choose between 3 top end basses that can cover pretty much any situation I find myself in musically.
25. Really nice P there mate! One thing I miss is the sound of a good thumpin' P bass.
