I've played a few of the Korean Spectors (assuming they Koreas like you (I'm just considering the cheaper ones)). They were good but I definetely prefer my Warwick Corvette (which I actually got cheaper than the Spectors! Edit : I will say if you are going for a fully bubinga bass (i.e Corvette) be prepared for the weight of it. I believe mine is just shy of 6kilos

Thought I put them in the original post (shall amend!). Going for 2 50mm humbuckers. If money were permitting it'd be the multi coils though!

To cut a long story short I very very briefly owned an ACG bass over the last fortnight and everything about it just felt and sounded perfect so I was considering getting a custom build done So made a trip to Moffat on Monday and played a few of the stock basses (including the ART Recurve which is quite simply perfect) and got an idea of his Filter preamps and different body shapes. Into the workshop and was barraged by masses of different woods. So the specs are now chosen and deposit is paid. Excitement has kicked in and the waiting now begins! Specs are : Recurve 5 34" Redwood Burl top, Black Limba body core, Purpleheart accent 5 Piece neck - Wenge/maple/purplehear/maple/Wenge Spalted Maple fretboard ACG DFM 4k preamp 2x Multi Coil 5 pickups Will be a while but I shall update this as the process goes along as I found other peoples build threads helpful/interesting For now, have this

I don't know anything about those basses (i.e fender in general) but I'd definitely want a hell of a lot more information if I was to spend that amount of money. A serial number at least.

Warwick stuff is especially bad for this (or good if you're wanting a warwick I suppose). New value of them is huge (to the point where it's a bit ridiculous IMO) but sell second hand for a fraction of that. I mean I got my corvette for less than £400!

I have to say. I played the Uber ART recurve today and am seriously seriously impressed by it. feel, looks and sound it was the quite probably the perfect bass (although missing a string for me).

So annoyed I missed this

Finger style bit at the start sounded good (but a bit too busy for the track IMO). Slap bit just seemed unnessecary to me and sounded very out of place. Saw a few of that guys videos and he tends to (to my ear) either be exceptional or playing really out of context and not listening to the actual track. He's still better than I am and probably will be.

You already know what I'd say! After (very briefly) owning an ACG it's just made me GAS for one real badly.

I had very mixed experiences with the dr coated strings. I used them once about 2 years ago and loved them, stayed nice and bright for a few months, looked great and felt great. fast forward to about 3 weeks ago. bought some and put them on my corvette. sounded great for the first 2 hours then instantly died and felt like a pair or Rotosounds (I.e Crap IMO). Will be sticking to elixirs.

I always try and email and just like Neepheid it's because I don't feel confident on phones. I feel more at ease when I email.

Saw this earlier, one of the best pieces of tv I've saw in a long time!

I'm pretty damn close to Paisley that but I know bugger all about fenders, especially ones like these! Edit for me being daft and showing how little I actually know. I thought it was in Paisley! I'm still not too far away right enough.

I'm another one for the MXR. Find it extremely transparent. So much so that I keep considering selling it until I turn it off for a song and realise how good it actually is!

I'm not understanding the "increase in tone" phrase here? From my experience it's been different but neither increased nor decreased.
