The higher end Ibanez SR's are pretty damn good for the money in my mind. If your budget is the 1k mark then theres a fair few ACGs on here at the moment under that price (I think one or two of them are 34" 5 stringers). There's a Warwick streamer Jazzman for sale here too. Great basses if you get on with Warwick necks!
Better start thinking about that mate! You can't just give her a fiver in a card now!
Need to up it to at least a tenner now. Maybe that's why I have no luck in this department...

For mine I got an apology as I didn't get anything...so I'll second Muzz's comment...
Age immaterial always puts me off, smacks of desperate. Of course it matters. I wouldnt want to gig with 18 year olds any more than they would want me cramping their style.
I'm 20 and I much prefer playing in bands with older memebers. find it's always much more professional and quite frankly I learn a lot more from playing with people with more experience. -

Going to invest in a pedaltrain mini board and was looking into a decent power supply that won't break the bank (too much). I like the idea I'd this but do worry about it being essentially a large battery and worry a little about the battery life and how it operates when the battery isn't fully charged. At most I would be using it for maybe 6 hours a day and it would be powering 4-5 pedals (Tc Polytune, Darkglass B3K, MXR bass compressor (almost always on), MXR Envelope filter and possibly another pedal at some point) Opinions from people who have used this before would be appreciated before I take a plunge

Haven't had work done from him personally but I've heard nothing but great comments about Martin at the Gallery.

Got this bass around a month ago (if that) from this very parish but with a chance of a Dingwall AB1 on the horizon I'm not going to be needing two 5 stringers so I'm putting this up for sale/trade. Bass has got a fair few marks of wear and tear all of which I have tried to photograph to make them look as bad as I possibly could. Truth is, they're all cosmetic. As far as how the bass performs the answer is excellently! Has silver Warwick straplocks attached which will also come with the bass. Was strung up with Elixir Nanowebs the day I got it around a month ago so still really fresh.Serial number: D-098930-03 Article number: 1215370100GDAFHOWW produced: 2003-04-10 Description: Streamer, 5-string Burgundy Red Oil finish Swamp Ash/AA Flamed Maple top body Ovangkol neck Gold hardware Unfortunately I don't have the handbook for this as I didn't get one with it.
IME this arrogance and disregard is typical of a lot of this current generation. It seems to go with a sense of "entitlement" they all seem to have. This follows in the jobs market too. They all want great jobs from day1. Plus it has to be something they will enjoy every moment of every day, or they won't do it. I also have a step-daughter who's looking to move rented accommodation. She can't find anything she can afford, so somehow it's her Mum's responsibility to fork out the extra or house her AND the bf. Besides, they can't both go to their own respective families can they? Or maybe that's just the ones I know?
Funnily enough I am looking to move out and as I'm a student phoned student loans to see how my finances would be if I moved out and was told "you're under 25 so you're still dependant on your parents, we won't give you any extra help". Back on topic. I'm 20 years old and haven't played that many gigs (maybe 20) but I would never go to a gig without my bass. I don't own an amp/cab/combo so I always check there is one in the venue before hand. Regarding the overplaying, I realised about a year ago that I done this all the time and decided there and then it sounded bollocks and made me look like a right git. If I've ever borrowed gear I've always done what I can to show gratitude

I've always preferred 5 stringers. Even when not using the extra string, the string spacing, neck size all just feel more at home. I say give in to temptation.

I agree with Howie here although when the backing tracks weren't there I found it a pretty interesting watch/listen. Thanks for posting

What is it I don't like about Ernie Ball guitars?
Cameronj279 replied to thisnameistaken's topic in General Discussion
I was having a eerily similar conversation with someone earlier. We both came to the conclusion that we loved the tone but hated how clunky they felt to play. The body and neck of them are just too big for my liking. But at the same time, I find a jazz bass to be a bit too big! -
Loving the grain on that ash!
Anyone tried growing their nails, so that fingers sound like picks ? Doesn't work very well for me, I cant get the same or even similar sound from each finger.
Tried it once, found that I started laughing at myself at how bad it sounded. I've just started learning to use a pick after 4 years of just using my fingers. I find it really limiting in all honesty. It's harder for me to do any form of subtle playing with a pick. Luckily I would only be using it in metal.
At that money talk to a luthier and get one made.
This. Discuss with them exactly what you want and for that money, you shouldn't have too much of a problem! The Warwick suggestion is good too I'd say. The Warwick Corvette I had until recently had a really 'dark' tone. If I wasn't so weak and it wasn't so heavy I wouldn't have considered selling it.

The suspense is *killing me. Auto correct changed that to "oiling". I wish I didn't notice to be honest. -
Went into the local one recently, saw an LTD 5 string bass, had heard good things (wasn't willing to pay the price they were asking). Looked at the neck just up by the nut and saw a massive crack all up the neck to the fretboard. Told the guy about it and he couldn't have looked more shocked, guess it was him that bought it! I imagine it would have been fixable but it would have probably cost more than the bass was worth.
