1. Really good bass playing and a fantastic bass tone
2. No matter how much I learn I still feel like a fraud Still, it's all music! Congratulations on taking the next step and I hope you get to grips with it all.
3. My parents live near Spalding and aparently they are still reeling under the shock....!
4. Welcome aboard! Nice list......
5.
Also, the band Ghostbeat featured Pino Palladino's daughter.
Ghostpoet
6. I just got to watch this Fantastic! Your EP is still a favourite on my mp3 player. Can't wait for the full video.
7. Don't get me wrong, I am no perfectionist!!! It was just the ending has some octave bashing bars and it stood out whilst playing along To be honest, I only learned the main part (taught by another bassist) and repeated throughout I wanted to get the timing spot on for the gig and realised I was playing something different If it wasn't a Pink Floyd track, I wouldn't worry
8. Welcome aboard! I have only been playing bass for around 18 months (I'm 46). This is a great forum and full of positive vibes! Enjoy your playing and posting in the forum
9. I lived on a narrowboat in the early eighties in Tewksbury only had an acoustic guitar in those days. Good times (what I remember, it was a long time ago!) As for a short scale bass, I bought a Violin bass. Great for Beatles........ probably fit on a boat quite well Anyway, welcome and enjoy the forum.
10. I have been playing comfortably numb (on bass) for a while now Today, having a bit of spare time, I decided to brush up on it ready for a gig. Realised I have been playing the outro wrong since day one. Anyone else get that sort of face plant moment when brushing up on tunes? (or is it just me )
11. Really enjoyed the track. Voted for and liked
12. For a live recording, that is really good Nicely paced and the sort of thing I like to listen too.
13. Because I only play for fun (gigging in an acoustic duo IS fun!) I only need 4 strings. I have a 5 that I don't use. If I was more professional I would probably persivere, but hey ho Each to their own
14.
such an authoritative set of reviews no one has a thing to say!
Useful info I just read them and they will probably help some to try for themselves (or avoid!). I liked the Cort myself when I tried one but have gone for an active Squier.
15. I went to see my favourite pub covers band last night. I always use my ear plugs at rock venues. You could not hold a conversation as they are very loud. No one asks them to turn down as it is the type of venue that requires a loud band! They gave me one of their merchandise caps (frequent follower!) and dedicated 'Shine on you crazy diamond' to me Fantastic night and a great tight band. Just thought I would add this to the end of a long and somewhat meandering thread
16. Wow, fast paced and very energetic! Not my usual sort of music but I will always listen to others work. I was impressed by the technical ability of you both. Keep it up and thanks for posting
17. What does everyone mean by integrity in this thread? I am true to the music. If it is a loud song, play as loud as the venue dictates. Playing at a volume that is not required is not a lack of integrity, surely
18. or play a fretless....... and always be out of tune (or is that just me?)
19. I heard he tried to sell it on here, but no one ever buys anything on here............
20.
LOL. Thats just your opinion, which of course you are welcome to. Im happy doing what im doing.
Me Too +1000000000 I have never turned down a paying gig and don't intend to. If someone wants to pay me to play, I will take the money and give the best performance I can within their remit.
21. Nice to hear something new! Welcome aboard
22. As I am now middle aged (and technically so old I should be dead, according to my kids) I may apply. I can be the bassist in the coffin
23. That is a very well put together video. It captures the attention. The music is well balanced and the mix superb. Is that going to be / has it been released as a single? Really good to hear something that is not just the usual. (It reminds me of a track on Scott Pilgrim Vs the World!). Good stuff Blademan
24. Hi, I thought song 1 was a lot smoother and well rehearsed than song 5 (IMHO of course). The vocals on song 1 were well placed in the mix and it is a good tune. On the whole a great effort and you should go down well in a live setting. If I could, I would come down a watch you perform live
25. Surprisingly, if you are too good and hold the audiences attention, the pub also loses as people don't want to get up and get another pint!
