1. Am I the only one who doesn't see the similarity between Wal and Enfield? Edit: Actually, looking at the cannon and Wal side by side I can see it
2.
I came to the same conclusion as you and have just bought myself a 1972 Burman MPA Pre and SL100 Powerpak Slave. I'm preparing myself for their arrival by doing weights for at least an hour a day...
That's testosteriffic! If you weren't so manly you'd be an animal. Grrrrrrr
3. My 100w amp is usually plenty loud for gigs. For mine, I would say it was more like the equivalent of a 350w SS amp
4.
I think it's only the shuttle 3 and 6 that has the filter, to help not ruin their 'combo' varient's speakers. But it works with all cabs and PAs I've plugged my 6 into.
All of the Genz class D heads have the high pass filter built in, the cutoff point 30hz. I also learned from BC that engaging the bass preset on the Shuttle bypasses the HPF. On the Shuttle 6, the cutoff point was set higher than 30Hz, but then lowered to 30Hz for the 6.2
5. I have difficulty reconciling the space-age pickups with the classic styling on many of them, but I'm sure they're great basses.
6.
An Ibanez SR which was hanging around a recording studio. Horrible to play. I can sincerely say that I would rather play my old Marlin Sidewinder.
I'm going to retract this. I played the same bass again a while back and it was fine. I still think they are fugly, but it played quite nicely :-)
7. As far as I'm aware it's the part not covered with silk. My favourite flats BTW, and a bargain too!
8. Nice playing, and lovely mood. The drum track got to me after a while, but I understand it's only a guide beat. All the more impressive that it was played in one take, in the back of a moving Tuktuk!
9. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBS-Classic-T90-tube-bass-amp-/370960322946 Bit of a trek from Holland though :-(
10. I'm sure I read somewhere that only two or three of these were sold in the UK! Anyway, my valve amp puts out 96w and I've gigged it many times. The vast majority of the time, it has been loud enough, but sometimes I wish I had a bit more volume on tap, on the rare occasion where we were in a large venue but couldn't put the bass through the PA. I have a louder SS head that I bring to these gigs now, so have all bases covered.
11. As much as I love Machinehead, I think it has its ups and downs. If we're talking rock albums which are consistently solid gold from start to finish, for me there are two main contenders, but I don't really see Appetite for Destruction as 'heavy rock', so the winner has to be Zeppelin II
12. You'll need to create a post in the For Sale forum (there's a fee) I wish you the best of luck with the sale
13. There are some really odd photos going on there. Please don't Tae Kwon Do my ass, but I preferred the arctic Dalmatian/horse chimera one
14.
we do this in my funk band... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAogbmx6SHw
Loving that, thanks This Boiler Room mix by nightmares on Wax is superb. Perfect for listening at work or chilling at home. Does anyone know that tune at 41:23? https://soundcloud.com/platform/nightmares-on-wax-1h30-min
15. Thinking about all of the different cabs I've had, about half have had tweeters. Then when I think which I liked the sounds of best, it's all of the ones without tweeters. Get the compact - you can always sell it on if you don't get on with it
16. Hmmm, looking at the picture, and your tags "gramma" and "isolation", I can only deduce that, since becoming a grandmother, you've decided to become a hermit and play dominoes for the rest of your life
17.
I'm sure a roadie would rather haul a '69er than an Ampeg fridge - but they are similarly priced, no?
Yeah, Ampeg is a bit more money, and I know which one I'd rather lift! Ampeg =165lbs, BF=55lbs
18. No worries - PM me with dimensions and address (either you or direct to Bass Doc) when you're ready. Can't help on pups I'm afraid. Looking forward to seeing the finished article
19.
You sir, are a gentleman.
Ha, cheers. Beedster, it was a serious offer - look, I pulled out a wenge board today - 5ft x 7in x 2in Nipping a bit off the end is no trouble. Let me know..
20. A bit of jazz blues from Essence Allstars... http://youtu.be/4LirT5Y8ptk
21. I wonder how many people would still use Barefaced if they were in a large, well paid touring band with roadies to do all the lifting...
22.
Weren't Gang Star the first hip hop outfit to play Reading festival back in the early 1990s? I saw them there, but they made the mistake of saying they were in the country to "bang the hos". Cue a barrage of bottles and other debris...
I was there too! Superb weekend. I must admit that I don't remember Gang Starr, but remember that Nirvana set clearly. Love J5 :-)
23. "Ich bin mehr kopflastig als John Merrick"
24. Lovely! The usual late 70s fender questions - what's the weight and what's the neck pocket fit like? I love the sticker on the headstock.
