1. Took some pedals out of the chain... Hiss has gone! And that's with the daisy chain being used as the power supply! It's now the 4th unit in my chain after the Aguilar TLC, Sansamp PBDDI, and Marshall Jackhammer! Going to experiment a bit more with the distortions to see if I can match/improve on what I get from the Marshall. I'm also considering putting the EHX Small Stone Nano back on because I haven't YET tweaked a really amazing phaser... It's got Velcro stuck on it now though, so at the moment, the B3 stays!
  2. For me it's guitar riffs, solos, bass tone, and any bass bits that are at all audible time signatures, vocal lines and style. I'm crap with lyrics
  3. I would go for a line 6 combo dude. Great price and they are really versatile practice combos If you want people to think it sounds ace, and looks cool, go Ampeg or Orange... if you want to spend a lot, but have a super awesome and loud practice setup, markbass every time Ibanez Prometheans, and the plethora of clones get a lot of love but I've never heard one
  4. I'm surprised 2 string basses aren't more readily available, I reckon loads of people would buy one, especially if they were cheaper than their 4 or more string counterparts!
  5. That's gotta be the cheapest ODB-3 in the world!
  6. I don't do this to help me learn, but I do do it just to be a bit silly. I guess it does help me learn though!
  7. I never had this problem with any other pedals in my chain from the same power supply (it's the Johnny Shredfreak one), only since adding this one. However I didn't notice any noise using the Zoom power supply whilst using the pedal by itself. It might just be that it doesn't like being daisy chained! I'll go over all the variables later anyways, and I'll try taking a few pedals out since I'm planning to take 4-5 pedals off my board. I'll post my results! Cheers Danny
  8. Woo! Finally got one of these thanks to Jamesemt It's great! the delays, phasers, choruses, amp sims, octaves and a load of the 'silly' effects.. Even the compressors really surprised me... Especially the 160 comp! Wtf is the bomber all about though? Haven't found a distortion that I really like yet, but the Bass Muff is easily good enough to replace my real one! The tuner is good. Not as accurate as the korg pitchblack but it's good enough... Undecided whether I'll retire the korg... I also get the hiss... Well it's like a high pitched ringing sound that's constantly there :S its removable using the ZNR noise gate, however it's still audible over my actual playing... Strangely enough using the Tubescreamer model gets rid of it too! Turning off the tweeter on my cab helps too. It was only there when daisy chaining the power supply... I will double check tonight and see if it goes away when using its own supply... Anyone managed to find another way of removing the hiss? All in all it's an awesome pedal and will be replacing a lot of my board if I can get around the hiss... I'll be keeping my Aguilar comp, Sansamp (the model is ok on low gain settings, but doesn't quite sound as warm or aggressive as the real thing), Marshall jackhammer, and maybe the tuner... Thats the first review I've ever typed up, and my god do I ramble
  9. Looks cool to be fair, nice find!
  10.
Another Q here. slightly off topic, but still TC related. See how the RH450 was measured putting out 236 watts at 4Ω, what wattage is it at 2.7Ω?
I really hope it's 450, that would be amusing
  11. I bought James's Zoom B3. He posted it the first chance he got and it arrived safe and sound the very next day, packaged so well that it took me ages to get into it! Very recommended... Cheers man!
  12. These basses are amazing! If I was in the market for an active 6er i would definitely pick this one!
  13.
IME you can only do 2 out of the following: 1. Be in a relationship 2. Have a full-time job 3. Be in a band that is more than a hobby
I agree, BUT there are exceptions if your good lady is some kind of super woman who doesn't mind you taking the piss a bit!
  14. I'll be honest here... I've considered building a rack setup purely because they look cool! I decided against it because I prefer having everything at my feet, and I like how my amp head fits into the little laptop slot at the back of my rucksack
  15. It's possible, don't get me wrong. But you'd have to be very lucky in order to have a stable income to support them if your wife doesn't work herself. It takes a long time and a lot of work/touring in order to be able to make any sort of living from music. Saying that I hope it works out for you if that's what you really want man! I'm very lucky in that have a job where I work shifts and it's fairly flexible so if I did have the opportunity to make something of myself in the music world, I could probably work out a compromise between the two.
  16.
I've had good service from GAK mail order as well as from the shop.
Ditto. I bought a Laney R5 2x10 combo from them just before Xmas. It died during a rehearsal about 8 months later, so they sent a courier to come and collect it, repaired it, and sent it back to me in the space of about a week and a half! Everything I've ordered from them has arrived the next day aswell, no matter how small

    Hi All

Sorry Alan I don't know what's happened to your introduction thread mate
  18.
I used to have 2 USA B.C.Rich Bich basses and a Full Trace Elliot stack at a place I worked, but then again, it was a guitar shop *edited due to not being able to spell "Stack" *
I used to be so romanticised with the idea of working in a guitar shop, thinking I'd get paid for just playing bass all day... Until I realised how rarely if ever I see guys who work in the shops actually getting to play!

    Hi All
sem·i·nal/ˈsemənl/ Adjective:

(of a work, event, moment, or figure) Strongly influencing later developments.
Of, relating to, or denoting semen.

Next time I see a questionable looking 'bass face' I'm going to get very suspicious about how much pleasure they're really getting
  20. The explanation is almost believable. The fact that it's not just detecting the noise from your bass and amplifying it though... It's clearly bollocks

    Hi All
It's about being seminal.
Fertility affects bass playing?
  22.
Full bass rig in own office, and rest of band work in same institution, fragmented song development in lunchtime in shared departmental office, we all have kit there. Not ideal since we get a stream of interruptions, but is usually fun.
That does sound awesome dude!
  23.
nope. I have a feeling I should be glad!
Damn you! My one stroke of cleverness tonight and it went to waste
  24.
really?!...
*facepalm* I'm taking it you can't see the image i posted!
  25. I used to bring a bass, pedalboard, and headphones to work for silent practicing. Too much of a pain in the ass though, so I might just bring a bass and practice amp instead!
