1. Cullem will have paid Radiohead money for being able to cover the song. How much is ip to Radiohead. Apparently Run DMC only earned $5000 from their cover of Walk this way - Aerosmith got the rest of the earnings.
2.
Plus they'd all keep falling over each other.
I suppose we could dig up Bob Fosse and ask him to choreograph for that many people and instruments. He seemed to like a challenge.
3.
I never understood why it is considered wrong for a player in an original rock band to use charts or cheat sheets yet it's ok for musicians in an orchestra playing 200 year old music for 50 years to still use full charts
Because a rock show is a far more visual show. Imagine Iron Maiden, all stationary, looking at music stands. It just doesn't work. A rock show is about attitude and movement as well as the music. No movement, no attitude = flat unconvincing performance. An orchestral performance is 90% listening. Movement would detract from the performance.
4. The full Gigrig Power system will do it easily. You'll need the generator, a distributor and isolators. And just a centre neg adaptor cable for the wireless. Not cheap though. Best supply I've ever owned.
5. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/reformed-nitro-taps-bassist-victor-wooten-for-comeback-album/ Could be interesting. I love Vic, but I've always been curious to hear him with a metal drummer.
6.
Just got myself a Zeus for £138 shipped!!! Thanks for the heads up, I can't imagine they will last long
Adding the import and vat takes that to about £172. Then another £8 or £13 for the handling charge at this end = £180 Thomann have them for £169 ( 192 Euro) - need another 8 euro for free shipping. If you don't get pinged for the tax then all is good - but if not, there's no advantage. I'd be worried about the warranty position - having to send it back to NZ would be expensive.
7.
Parcel force will also levy a handling charge which has been about £13 when I have imported stuff before.
For a small item I think it is £8 - but yes there will be that charge as well. Still - now I'm proper curious about the compressor! Anyone tried one?
8. I was looking at the little compressor. Including shipping it is £64.75. Adding 25% (vat at 20% and then import at (I think) 4.4) makes that £81 Amazon have them for £89.
9.
...but what will the customs import fees bump the price up to?
Add about 25% on top of the unit price and shipping. That will be close.
10. A friend's band is looking for a new bassist and frontman. Can be the same person, or 2 people. They are a great band and well worth joining. Here is his text: Garrison - require bassist and a frontman. 11. Too much low mids? Err, that's a P sound. You'll probably need very different amp EQ settings compared to your jazz. Still, it you want less mids then the SD Quarter Pounder has more bass and lowered mids.
12. Why would you turn up without your own gear if you hadn't confirmed in advance what the studio would provide?
13. Cut the treble and bass. That will give you a mid hump curve. Then turn the amp up.
14. Can tell if this is actually metal or an effect, but it looks good http://www.wdmusic.com/fender_p_bass_mexican_std_pickguard_pbs-414.html
15. Was just looking at these. If they end up weighing under 8lb as the post above then I'm having one.
16. That's a shame. I had a VJ jazz many years ago and apart from the weight it was lovely. If I still had it I probably would have paid Shuker to chamber it. In those days I didn't know it could be done.
17. Can you even get a new Modulus ones anymore? I keep seeing facebook things about them back in business, and then nothing more for months.
18. Bit rubbish. Get a Status one instead.
19. Good point - slightly wider ones with Top jacks would work too. I've never had an Aguilar pedal - I'll listen to some demos.
