  1. Ah - for a 5 at that weight you'd have to order a Superlight version I think.
  2. https://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/portfolio/sandberg-california-ii-vs-in-high-gloss-creme/ 7.5lb
  3. Add some to your basket and then "Save For Later" so any time you buy anything you can see if the price has changed.
  4. I suspect there is going to be a lot more trading specs with Aguilar now that they are both owned by Korg. DG's IR loading system from the V2 MT and AO heads has now appeared on the new Aguilar amps released over the last month or so. I wonder how much Doug got for selling SG to Korg.
  5. I use Boss Waza Air headphones for home practice like that. I get good tones and I can play along to my iTunes library / youtube etc on my tablet or phone. I was a bit nervous about spending that amount on a practice tool but I have been playing far more than I did before. It's just so easy and it doesn't disturb anyone.
  6. What a fab colour! Goes so well with the maple board.
  7. Just managed to score a bargain. My favourite shorty strings for my Sandberg are Dunlop Flats. Unfortunately they are an outrageous £95 at Strings Direct, and usually about £80 on Amazon. Amazon had them up for £35 for some reason and I managed to grab 2 sets. At the time they had 5 sets available and with hindsight I should have bought them all as that would have kept me in strings on that bass for the rest of my natural. Still, with 2 sets that should give me a good 10-20 years worth - they last just as long as La Bella DTF (which I've got on a different shorty) I was half expecting the order to be cancelled, but they've just arrived. They are back up to £77 on Amazon at the moment, but it's worth keeping an eye on for future bargains.
  8. It's interesting that MB have kept the wood cabinet CMD121P while also introducing the new material combos that also has a 1x12. I did notice that some of the new material cabs are quite a bit deeper than the wooden ones. I fancy a change from my BF One10 x2 but I've been spoiled as to how small they are and I'm not sure I want the extra size again.
  9. I've not tried any Ricky basses. The only Gibson was an Epi EB0. I've not had a 4 string Stingray and I've got huge GAS for one with the SLO neck option. Never had anything with a Double P pickup - I'd like to try that. Never had any semi-hollow basses.
  10. Well, without knowing your settings or preferred sounds... I would think it could replace your EQ, drive, compressor, and pitch easily enough. The question will be over your delay and modulation sounds. For me - I'm completely happy with the Helix sounds for them (Stomp and Helix have the same sounds), but I know some people like dedicated units with different controls for that sort of thing. Some use a Stomp and then a Strymon or 2 - and use midi to swap everything at once when needed. You can have 8 blocks in the Stomp. There are some DSP limits - the recently introduced PolyCapo effect uses loads leaving less power for everything else, but it's a really good poly octave designed for use instead of retuning a guitar. Don't know any bassists using that effect. EQ, drive, compression hardly use any DSP. There are loads of options for each type, and just because an effect appears in the 'Guitar' list does not mean it can't be used on bass. If you find a sensibly priced used on you wouldn't lose any money if you discover it's not for you. There is a bit of a learning curve, but the UI is really simple and there's plenty of us on here with an HX based unit to help and swap patches with.

    Tiny bass?

That's a very cool bass! Do they go for silly money?
  12. All pitch FX work better with a clean signal and when placed after a compressor. Then they get a really clean and even signal to work with. You could replace your entire board with HX Stomp, although the stomp only has 3 footswitches. If some of your current pedals are always on - like the comp and the EQ etc then that might not matter. It's easy to add an external midi unit to a stomp, or there is the bigger Stomp XL, but to be honest at that point the money is so close to a Helix LT that the LT would be a better and more powerful option for not a lot more.
  13. I've got the 3 button one and it has some very good sounds for guitar and bass use. On the other hand the software is a stone cold atrocity. There is literally nothing instinctive about any of it. In these days of fantastic UI on the Helix and QC etc IK should be ashamed. Still, I'm persevering. At the moment I'm using it with a couple of pedals to be a mini lounge rig with a Yamaha HS7 monitor. I can use it for both guitar and bass. I'm old enough to remember when 2 channel amps started to get popular, so having 3 sounds on a bank for guitar use is more than enough for me.
  14. Does the 121P hiss less than the 102P? If so, it must be a different tweeter, as Bill always says, Tweeters don't hiss, amps hiss! I do wish MB would put tweeter controls on their combos as well as on the cabs.
  15. I had one and it had a tiny but annoying high pitched whine whenever it was on so I sent it back. I was very annoyed as I loved the overall effect. Do they all have that? I had read a few comments on websites about it.
  16. I love those EB flats. Such a great string.
  17. Ed Friedland has some 20 year plus La Bella flats on his basses.
  18. I love that there is so much crossover available in the mids.
  19. Apology accepted. I also apologise for taking the piss a bit heavy handedly.
  20. Or you’ll threaten me with violence again? I would have happily apologised for piss taking before your threat.
  21. A threat a violence? Really? Ok, perhaps I was a little piss taking, but violence?
  22. Try not to regurgitate Beato without thinking. Music is easier to record and release. There is loads more of it. That’s as right as he was. The rest of his rant was embarrassing. The good stuff is still there, you just have to sift through it a bit more. The quality of the good stuff is as high as ever. Yes there is more dross, but there’s also a lot more niche / experimental excellent stuff that “in the old days” wouldn’t have been released because of a record company gatekeeper not seeing massive profits from it. No. I won’t suggest anyone because music is subjective. You’d just use whatever I suggested to argue over even though it is just a matter of taste. As for “greats”: there’s a couple of million of people who genuinely think Taylor Swift is a great. They are right. She is a great to them and that is all that matters. I’m astonished you are only 45. You sound at least 30 years older, like a muttering octogenarian in the corner of the pub, demanding his beer is served in a proper dimpled mug with a handle because everything newer is wrong. . I’m older than you and I hope I never get so bothered about a young musician managing to earn a living from playing. I don’t like Jaco. I don’t like The Beatles, or more accurately I like the songs but cannot stand their vocals. Amazingly I am allowed to not listen to them or watch them. You could try that.
  23. EMG J set in the TT4 with an EMG 3 band preamp. Aguilar 1960s wind P in the Lionel.
