  1. Round core strings are particularly vulnerable to unseen annoyances. I do like them though.
  2. Definitely the first one. Although I could see the final verse / chorus veering towards the third one a bit as a sort of crescendo.
  3. They are lovely and light but the posts are small - bit annoying for your average Fender sized headstock hole. Either need about 2 metres of plumbers tape to widen the bushing or fill the holes completely and then redrill. Ain’t got no time for that! 🤣
  4. Old strings or sometimes new ones that are twisted. I know you’ve said the pickups are ok but lower them further anyway just to see if it goes away to properly rule that out.
  5. Nordstrand now do 51 style P bass pickups in a jazz housing: https://nordstrandaudio.com/collections/4-string-jazz-bass-pickups/products/51j4s So if the placement is right in a bass with J pickups then that should be pretty nice too.
  6. @Andyjr1515 made me a lovely ebony ramp for my Sandberg. I I need to take another bass to him for another ramp, but life seems to be getting in the way at the moment. I must get round to it though, I find it a lot easier to play with them.
  7. That looks cools. Will it work with EMGs?
  8. Lovely amp. It’s 500w though, at 4ohms and 300w at 8ohms. The 600w written on the back is about the input power supply and power draw from the mains, not the output of the sound. Doesn't really matter as it’s still a very loud amp!
  9. They're both very good - I get the USA ones as I like to be able to reverse them if needed, and because of the small additional weight saving. But I wouldn't bother getting the USA if a bass already had the Korean ones on it. I do wish the string posts were slightly tapered to force the string to the bottom, but I can't have everything. BTW - the Y key ones are a little lighter than the clovers, with the lollipop in the middle. I believe the Y keys are the lightest tuner ever, but for clovers the Sandberg lightweight tuner is a little lighter. The Sandbergs are a real pain to get in the UK though as their online shop currently won't ship out of the EU.
  10. Nobody owns software anymore. It's all licensed. I'm annoyed at online DRM but then I've got loads of plugins that use iLOK so it's not like I'm not used to having some sort of system.
  11. I don't know how many people work for SD but I do know that Glenn's wife is seriously ill at the moment. Perhaps that has an impact on the support answers?
  12. I really ought to buy some callipers for more accurate measuring purposes.
  13. I do reuse old strings quite a lot - swapping between rounds and flats depending on what I'm playing. In an ideal world I'd have duplicate basses with flats and rounds but I don't have the money for that. That looks pretty good to me!
  14. What is a Jim Cairns neck? Is it an after market neck for a ray? I have never heard of them.
  15. WOW! I had a fretted but it was a lot heavier than that! Amazing instruments.
  16. I'd take that down to SIMS to get some white fretboard LED markers put in it to really bring the glam / disco thing home.
  17. I'm really liking the Solid Gold FX Beta V at the moment. It has an ampeg flavour to it. Works great at low and high drive levels. No clean mix though if that is important to you. I am also a big fan of the EBS Billy Sheehan Deluxe - a lot more versatile than people thing, and the Darkglass Alpha Omega. Bit left field - but I love the kind of dirty drive the Fairfield 'The Accountant' compressor does when compressing a lot. It's absolutely horrible on its own, and just amazing in a mix.
  18. No wonder most of my instruments are German or Japanese!
  19. Also - WTF can measure anything in imperial? What the smeg is a 32nd of an inch?
  20. I had no idea that shorter ones could be purchased! So obvious! If anyone has a link before I trust google that would be very useful.
  21. Saddle height screws.
  22. The bridge crews on my bitsa stick out a lot. What is the best way to cut them down? Hacksaw? Dremel type thing? ta
  23. I took out the black labels from my TT4 and stuck in EMG J set and their preamp.
