  1. pickup changes. Nowt else.
  2. I’ve got 2 Sandberg SL. A TT4 jazz (about 6.4lb) and a Lionel shortie (5.7lb). Great basses. Really happy with them.
  3. Basically he bought cheap copy pedals from the far east, the glooped them to hide the circuit. He claimed he designed and built them and sold them at boutique prices. He got endorsements from some big name players including Robben Ford, Michael Landau etc which in turn increased his sales of things he claimed he designed and built. When the game was finally up he did that most American of things… a rambling Mea Culpa story about his growth as a person and learning about himself etc etc. He’s even posted Ford’s letter on his own website. Basically after years of ripping off and denying it and threats of legal actions he’s managed to turn it into a story of redemption that he hasn’t earned. There’s about 500 different threads on TGP, Reddit etc and loads of videos about the Mason / Vertex “controversy”. There8s no controversy at all. He ripped people off, denied it when he was caught and threatened litigation, and then only started to claim he was sorry when it was clear he was going to lose. He’s since moved into interviews and so on to further launder his reputation. He’s still got his company and his other products are still stocked in shops all over the world. Other than a few uncomfortable months, he got away with it. I Doubt Freddie knew anything about this.
  4. Take it back. Every brand on earth has an early failure stat. It happens. I had an F1 head that was dead brand new in the box. Swapped it, and ran the replacement for years with no trouble at all.
  5. And he’s encouraging loads of new players to pick up the instrument. Far more than old Grandpa Simpson up there ^ is doing.
  6. Yes. But unfortunately it’s also advertising a person who admits fraudulent behaviour and by all accounts got away with it.
  7. So he’s better than you and he’s earning for playing. Try not to be so jealous. It’s unbecoming. I think he’s great and musical. WOW! Music taste is subjective! Whodathunkit???
  8. The DSR were updated and bought into the newish Consumer Rights act and regulations, both bought in in 2015. So they dont exist anymore on their own, but the same or better protections exist under the new regs.
  9. Mason from Vertex is scum. He ripped off loads and threatened lawyers before a half arsed apology. Full thread, including his own written apology/ excuse is on TGP.
  10. Lovely! One of my favourite amps but I've never owned one
  11. That is absolutely spectacular! Would suit my funk leanings quite well... Do you know the exact weight please?
  12. There's no proper way. Whatever sounds good to the player is good.
  13. Most amps have the loop after the preamp section so that's all good. Beyond that - depends on what you like. I prefer phaser in front of the amp, but flanger in the loop, just like I do on guitar. Chorus should always be kept in a bin unless playing in a covers band that only does songs from about 1983-1988.
  14. Sideways pedals are wrong. a classic junior would do it and leave room for another. Lot of options to fit a power supply underneath too. However - you do not have to have on the board in the same order as the signal chain. So if the BDDI and the LMB3 are always on you can put them on the top row with the tuner leaving the ones you do have to switch a lot on the bottom. You just need longer patch cables to keep the same signal path.
  15. Bugger. Too much for me, alas.
  16. Oh man! Do you know the weight please?
  17. From thefretboard forum https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/270188/secursus-insurance-not-valid#latest TLDR: You need a certificate of sale to be covered, with signatures! I'll stick with Overland Express in the future!
  18. Webcam privacy stickers make great fret markers and will not damage the bass.
  19. The Marleaux Consat Custom 5 was the best 5 string I've ever played and owned. Have to be a bit lucky to get a used one at your budget though.
  20. Tell all the Crack Converter type places now. It's a rare bass so will probably turn up. Make sure he tells his insurance company as well and tell them the steps he is taking to get it back. That will help if he needs them to pay out on it.
  21. Mark Bass and Ashdown heads and a pair of BF cabs One10 and One10T. And an old Roland Bass Cube 30 that's I've had for 15-20 years. Not really a rig that, but still a brilliant practice / small jam amp. With 2 heads and 2 cabs - is that 2 rigs or is it 6 as I can do each head with the tweeter cab, or the non-tweeter or both?
  22. UK light switch. Americans have them the other way up in a lot of places. I know EBS is Swedish, but different companies follow different ideas. Anyway, turn the treble up on your amp, then slap the bass a bit with the switch on/off. You should definitely hear it then.
  23. Do it. I joined a music and performing arts educational trust about 12 years ago. I have learned a huge amount since then. reading skills will improve quickly. You won’t ever sight read a new tune at a gig. Put the time in at home and you’ll be fine. You’ll get used to playing in just about everything other than E and 4/4 as well.
  24. Ah damn! This is the wrong time. I want one but I need to sell my BF cabs first, and I’m about to go on holiday.
