  1. The Marcus Miller versions are far better. Better EQ centres and 5 bands. Much more controllable.
  2. Concentrate on Ida. She's a cracking player.
  3. No point. wont be any gigs for a long time. Hot sweaty dirty rehearsal room with different bands all working hard and breathing hard, then walking into that room, probably with little or no ventilation due to sound proofing. Risk of high viral load in a small space. The rooms won’t be scrubbed between each band. And the studio owned mics will need destroying. Its a no from me.
  4. I reckon the secret with the preamp is to turn both knobs down just a little, and leave it there.
  5. I’ve just put the medium scale Warwick Black Labels on it. Nice Strings! Never used them before. I went for a lighter gauge and as with all Black Labels the B is tapered. They fit perfectly and sound very nice. Bit rougher than the stock nickels as the BL are steels, but still good.
  6. Dear god I’m actually aroused. What a great colour.
  7. Wow. I thought I'd tried everything but I wasn't aware of that one. I'll try it. Thank you.
  8. Always unplug it when not in use. The jack turns the circuit on. If the batteries are fresh then you should get at least a year out of them
  9. Nice! I've been doing a bit of digging for string options as low B medium scale strings are rare. La Bella medium scales look like they will fit - including their lovely but expensive White Nylons (might need the nut slots a little wider) Warwick Black Label rounds mediums will fit. The B is tapered on them Newtone will make any scale you like to order, so they fit as well - just specify 860mm length to the "past the nut" taper excluding the Ball end. Rounds only. There's only 1 set of medium scale 5 string flats I can find - Dunlops. I've emailed them to ask for their speaking length measurements to make sure that bit wouldn't be wrapping the post. I'll update if I get a reply. I've just received a couple of the Black Label sets (Shipping was a flat fee from Germany so I got 2) but I haven't fitted them yet.
  10. Lovely. I'm a huge fan of Sandberg. My future GAS list is almost all Sandberg!
  11. Great bit of kit. I love the "Tone" control on these - EQ + de-essing + some compression. I use mine every time I sing. I don't use the pitch correction though.
  12. Def Lep - Pyromania was massive (everywhere but the UK anyway), and then Hysteria was even more massive and was very different.
  13. Lovely looking thing! However - Those are Hipshot tuners, but not Ultralights. UL's look like this: I think you have the HB3 model.
  14. And you can challenge it by stating it is a gift again and providing evidence. At this point they may decide to talk to the person you bought it from as well if they don't believe you. Then you get into more trouble for trying to get someone else to tell a porky for you. They may also report the seller to their local customs people as well - and in the USA it is a Federal Offence to mis-describe a package. They will fold very quickly and give them the truth rather than protect you. The fines in the USA are massive. I feel that's the wrong approach. One should never think offences are ok just because the person didn't get caught or that proof might be difficult. Not paying it by putting "gift" on the package when it is not a gift is tax evasion. It is that simple.
  15. Sandberg Superlight
  16. With that monster amp, whatever the answer is... surely you'll need 2 of them!
  17. Slightly left field... Noble valve preamp into a good powered cab or a poweramp and traditional cab?
  18. Genius! Love that modular approach. @AJ567 Is the Noble worth the money? I keep looking at them and then being scared!
  19. Internet lag means it's horrible if everyone wants to hear everyone else. If you are all just listening to the drummer and not each other it's ok IF the drummer doesn't need to hear you - but if you listen to drummer and it takes 5ms (if you are really lucky) to get the signal to you, then it's another 10ms for your sound to get back to the drummer. He then shifts his playing slightly to match yours, then 5ms later you shift again to match him... etc etc It's a horrible mess. The web just isn't fast enough.
  20. That's also because mis-describing an item on a customs form as a gift (and indeed just telling customs when it isn't) is an offence. Customs are perfectly within their rights to destroy it and to fine anyone who does this. Most of the time they'd rather just collect the money.
  21. The shop replaced mine. I wonder if all Class-D are expensive to repair.
  22. I'll do that. D'addario rounds are quite smooth even as rounds - La Bella rounds use a larger diameter outer-wrap wire and feel rougher and have more finger noise. That sort of thing.
  23. Mesa Prodigy 4:88 Used only now. Fan can be a bit loud if you are sensitive to that (I am) but it wouldn't surprise me if the fan could be upgraded to a modern silent type.
  24. It looks like they will do medium scale roundwounds easily enough. I might order some when the D'addario's get old. They don't do flats alas. Are the Newtone strings smooth / rough etc? I'd also be quite happy to try the La Bella White Nylons as I've had them before as long scale - but they are £70 in the UK and that's a lot of dosh for an experiment if I don't like them!
  25. I'm really liking this colour too! Maybe I'll need a 4 string as well!
