Fair do's. I'm actually more scared that I might be an asymptomatic carrier and might give it to someone who doesn't know they are vulnerable.

What's The Best Deal You've Ever Had?

I had a set a long time ago. Brilliant things. Still by far the best hum cancelling strat pickup I've ever heard. Shame they are so expensive these days. -
It will be a whole new type of "Exposure!"

You've got some nice basses.... DIBS!

But if you get badly enough that you need a ventilator your chances of surviving are under 50%. Then if you are obese it's far worse than that. The end of the lockdown just means there is some room in ICU.

Nothing much. Got a set of Lollar Black Face strat pickups brand new for about £70 when they retail at about £250. Pre-owned on ebay but the box had never been opened. They are brilliant. -
Not until there is a viable treatment without sedation and ventilator use. If I get replaced, so be it.

Sort of. I have basses that stick with flats and rounds and I have some where I change the strings. My P is always Monel flats and I use it for old proper RnB, big band etc, and of course Iron Maiden! My PJ-Ray5 has rounds because I’ve never found a Flatwound B that was worth having. It’s quite bright and needs a lot of EQ adjustment to make it work right in a 25 piece big band. But it’s fantastic for anything more modern. It’s also the bass that I will use if I need to tune down with some heavier strings. I do find that the lower tuning I use, the brighter I want the natural tone of the bass / strings to be to lower the chances of flub. My Sandberg TT4 (Jazz) is very string dependent. With rounds it’s very Marcus Miller. With flats it’s got a great old tone. If I want to play it with the big band I put flats on it. For anything else it gets rounds. Fortunately it has a slotted bridge so swapping strings and saving the older ones is dead easy and I don’t have to thread the coiled string part from the headstock through a bridge hole. Sometimes the big band set has some modern funk arrangements where the the Monel flats don’t really work for slap parts so I might experiment with some Pressurewounds so see if I can get a good compromise. Those are the 3 that I use the most. If we ever get to rehearse or pay live again I expect my new Ibby medium scale to feature a lot too. Until then I’ll just have to imagine what it sounds like in a live mix. 😢

My band is bass, drums, piano, and (depending on who turns up) Another 23 trumpet, sax, trombone, clarinet, flute, cornet, tuba etc etc players. No frakking way am I going into that room for the foreseeable future.

The Marcus Miller versions are far better. Better EQ centres and 5 bands. Much more controllable.

Concentrate on Ida. She's a cracking player.

No point. wont be any gigs for a long time. Hot sweaty dirty rehearsal room with different bands all working hard and breathing hard, then walking into that room, probably with little or no ventilation due to sound proofing. Risk of high viral load in a small space. The rooms won’t be scrubbed between each band. And the studio owned mics will need destroying. Its a no from me.

NBD: Ibanez SRMD205 Mezzo 5 string. Medium scale

I reckon the secret with the preamp is to turn both knobs down just a little, and leave it there. -
NBD: Ibanez SRMD205 Mezzo 5 string. Medium scale
fretmeister replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
I’ve just put the medium scale Warwick Black Labels on it. Nice Strings! Never used them before. I went for a lighter gauge and as with all Black Labels the B is tapered. They fit perfectly and sound very nice. Bit rougher than the stock nickels as the BL are steels, but still good. -
Dear god I’m actually aroused. What a great colour.

Wow. I thought I'd tried everything but I wasn't aware of that one. I'll try it. Thank you.

Always unplug it when not in use. The jack turns the circuit on. If the batteries are fresh then you should get at least a year out of them

NBD: Ibanez SRMD205 Mezzo 5 string. Medium scale
fretmeister replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
Nice! I've been doing a bit of digging for string options as low B medium scale strings are rare. La Bella medium scales look like they will fit - including their lovely but expensive White Nylons (might need the nut slots a little wider) Warwick Black Label rounds mediums will fit. The B is tapered on them Newtone will make any scale you like to order, so they fit as well - just specify 860mm length to the "past the nut" taper excluding the Ball end. Rounds only. There's only 1 set of medium scale 5 string flats I can find - Dunlops. I've emailed them to ask for their speaking length measurements to make sure that bit wouldn't be wrapping the post. I'll update if I get a reply. I've just received a couple of the Black Label sets (Shipping was a flat fee from Germany so I got 2) but I haven't fitted them yet. -

The album after major commercial success

Def Lep - Pyromania was massive (everywhere but the UK anyway), and then Hysteria was even more massive and was very different. -
And you can challenge it by stating it is a gift again and providing evidence. At this point they may decide to talk to the person you bought it from as well if they don't believe you. Then you get into more trouble for trying to get someone else to tell a porky for you. They may also report the seller to their local customs people as well - and in the USA it is a Federal Offence to mis-describe a package. They will fold very quickly and give them the truth rather than protect you. The fines in the USA are massive. I feel that's the wrong approach. One should never think offences are ok just because the person didn't get caught or that proof might be difficult. Not paying it by putting "gift" on the package when it is not a gift is tax evasion. It is that simple.
