  1. Got some medium scale ones for the Mezzo. Very nice!
  2. Guitar blues with some keys, or blues piano?
  3. Aguilar 60s wind. Lovely p bass sound.
  4. Yes. But also many FOH guys are compressing the bass in the PA whether the player likes it or not. A good mix needs it IMHO.
  5. Vat is applied to the item AND the shipping. AFAIK the only escape is if the item has already been into the UK / EU and VAT has already been collected on it. So an item bought new in the UK, vat has been paid, then sold used to someone in the USA and then just coming back. Good luck finding the paperwork that HMRC would accept! No sense of humour that lot!
  6. I'd say the Aguilar 60s wind but it's very similar to the Fender one.
  7. D’addario Pro Steels would be good for brash punk sounds. 45 to 100 would be a common gauge. Can get them on amazon.
  8. Here you go Warning - it's full of nerds!
  9. There's a dedicated thread to the C4 in the Effects section.
  10. Sandberg do. I don't like them though - or the SD QP for that matter. They have too much low end and not enough mids. Don't sound like a P at all to me.
  11. I've sometimes found that even with vat getting them from Best Bass Gear in the USA is cheaper.
  12. Maybe I spelled something wrong! I am tired!
  13. Anyone tried them? I can't see any mention of them on here and I don't know if they are a new string or have been around a bit. But they are available in a Medium Scale so I'm tempted to try some on my Ibby Mezzo. I'd like to know about their tension compared to other flats and if they are bright like a modern flat or more old school. ta
  14. The Joe Dart is passive, and there is a new limited signature that is as well - but with dummy controls. I have no idea if the pickup itself is changed at all - or whether it has the dummy coil on it that some models do.
  15. This thread has taken me on a search for good cover versions. The Chickenfoot version is brilliant - Satriani playing the organ solo with some synthy pedals. Also shows what a great singer Michael Anthony is.
  16. They haven't landed in the UK yet. Andertons say next week. EDIT - just seen on another forum. Some people are expecting delivery on 17th or 18th June, but a Yamaha rep suggested that the first UK delivery has all been pre-sold.
  17. In the lounge - wooden floor - I back off the 65hz quite a bit. Unless I'm going full Marcus with my active jazz anyway. At the moment I seem to be using my P with roto flats a lot. Just sounds perfect to me.
  18. SNAP! I love it. All my basses sound different with it, as they should, and it takes pedals really well too.
  19. Presumably like the Joe Dart signature model. Now I've listened to the vid - yup. Just like Joe Darts. I quite like it.
  20. Just found this... not bad for a street busking band!
  21. Their best tune. EDIT: Thinking about it - it's almost like Glover had been listening to Entwhistle quite a bit before recording this part.
  22. As much as I like DG pedals and the M900 amp I agree. It's got a distinctive baked in sound just like a SVT has.
  23. That's a shame. I've never had any hiss on my 800W one. But also I don't have any tweeters in my cabs. Does the Vanderkley have a tweeter control? Some tweeters go up to 20Khz, which in my mind is absolutely useless for bass, but that is where hiss can be.
  24. Thank you! I don't get paid for any music related activity, but I do volunteer every week (pre lockdown) for the local music & performing arts trust. I will email them and ask.
  25. The Barefaced 8x10 is 79lb That's a big difference. I remember when DG released their first cabs. Old tech and very heavy. The comments they got all over social media quickly showed it was a mistake to assume the world still wanted heavy cabs. Now the new cabs are much lighter and the smaller ones are competitive on weight, but the larger cabs are not. Perhaps the 4x12 and 8x10 are aimed at pros who have roadies. The pricing will be vital though. The lightweight DG 4x10 is £1125 at bass direct, and the Barefaced is £959 (steel) and £1009 (cloth) That difference is probably not enough to be a huge issue for anyone wanting to drop a grand on a cab and the weights are so close (cloth grill on the BF) that it's not an issue either. Be interesting to see what the prices of the bigger cabs are. I'd still love to try one of the Aerotech cabs though - seem to have dropped another third in weight. I love the way that tech is going!
