  1. It's on wheels.
  2. You'll never get a power supply under a booster. You might be better going for the Ikea solution. Google "Ikea Gorm pedal boards" and you'll get the idea.
  3. I've had 5 hernias...
  4. I haven't used one for years - and then only when the venue or rehearsal space were providing the backline. Usually with a well battered old 8x10 I much preferred them to other Ampegs I've tried / owned.
  5. I was just surfing ebay and saw a recent completed sale for an Ampeg SVT-4 Pro at only £280! I know heavy gear isn't as popular anymore, but that seems astonishing to me. What are they, about £1200 new? Madness. As my band has just imploded and I don't have to worry about moving kit around I'm halfway tempted to get one as a house amp!
  6. Nobody bullied anyone. Robust rebuttals were put to the original premise. That’s all. The OP wasn’t remotely balanced.
  7. I'm having a Calzone delivered. It probably gets slayed by [insert the OP's favourite meal] in every department though. I just hope to god I can decipher the ingredients.
  8. Actually that's a very good point. What if the composer likes that tone? Did he write the music for him or for you? Just because an audience member doesn't like the tone doesn't mean the composer / bassist does't like it.
  9. Because the sound check wasn't done? Because there's an incompetent on the mixer? If you can't hear the bass then you can't comment on the tone. You can't hear it! You can only comment that the mix is bad. How do you know whether it's "processed" if you 1) can't hear it, and 2) can't see the signal path? Pedals on the ground doesn't mean they are all in use. Sometimes they are used for little embellishments.
  10. What if your aim is not to have a clear tone?
  11. If you like. You are right for you. Everyone else is right for them. There are many bass parts written specifically with selected FX. "Hysteria" for example. Play that with a P and an SVT but without the swirly bits and it won't sound right. Every person who has started a thread like this has been myopic and only considered what they like to play and their own set list and not the needs of other players or even what the composer of the tune wanted. These threads are always worded like a "MY SOUND IS BEST" approach (or like you did claim your opinion about a subjective matter of taste is "fact") rather than an entirely reasonable "My favourite sound is..." Is a P and the SVT a fantastic bass sound? Yes. Will it "slay" every other sound in "every department" - of course not. That's beyond silly.
  12. Oh good. This thread again. I hadn't seen it for a couple of weeks so I was getting anxious.
  13. Sitting down gigs are fine with stands. Nothing else.
  14. Still better than a music stand. /LightThatTouchpaper
  15. I am so weak. Sea Foam Green one incoming.
  16. For one room I played in a lot I actually put my cabs in a corner pointing out at the 45 degree angle. The spread was great that way and really everyone in the room, band and audience and me were in front of the cabs and could hear everything. It worked really well - first time I did it I was playing an active jazz so I could be far from the amp and still control my sound. Then later I got a longer speaker cable and kept the amp head near me.
  17. Just need someone else to test them before I take the plunge!!
  18. 600W, built in compression, and a tuner! If the fan is quiet I might have one!
  19. This is very interesting. Their Vintage G212 guitar cab is superb - and it's cheaper than just buying a pair of Celestion V30 cones alone!
  20. Is this just curiosity or are you planning to call in an air strike to get rid of Scott's spam?
  21. PHOTOS WILL BE ADDED IN ABOUT AN HOUR - when my stupid phone has finished it's update! I have a pair of Barefaced One10 cabs - metal grill. I would like to trade them both for a single Barefaced Big Baby 2 (Current generation). A pair of One10 cabs would cost £838 (£419 each) and the BB2 is £779. So although my 2 cabs are a bit more expensive at new price I'm just looking for a straight a swap. My cabs are in good condition but do have the expected tolex creep on the backs. Detailed photos are coming. I have never tried to fix the tolex because after decades of playing shoddy Marshalls it just doesn't bother me. The cabs have been played with my Big Band and have been amazing. No hairy rock gigs at all! Would have to be a meet up in a socially distanced way. I'm in Northants. If necessary the cabs cab be tested using a wireless so there's no need for close contact. I'm not interested in anything other than a BB2. ta SOLD
  22. Can you measure the string length WITHOUT the ball end please... 1: To the end of the speaking length 2: then also the total to the far end of the string? I think they just might fit on my 32 scale Ibby. The DR website says they are 33 3/4 inches but doesn't say whether that is including or not including the ball end, and also doesn't show the total length of the string from ball end to the very end. My Ibby is exactly 33 3/4 from back of the bridge (so not including the ball end) to the far end of the nut. So if the string length is excluding the ball end and they are long enough to go round the tuning heads they should fit! ta
  23. For a while my band leader was a pianist. She had no idea what the range of the bass was. I'd often get parts that fell off the ends!
