  1. Mostly - not the 32 scale as D'addario don't make a medium scale B string that is for sale to the public. They only supply it to Ibanez for fitting to new ones. Monumentally thick as that is. So the 32 has Newtones on it and I like them enough that I may well swap the other basses when they need restringing.
  2. I used to think that. Then I got a 34 scale Marleaux and the low B was better than anything longer I'd ever played / owned. Even the 37 inch stuff. Zon Hyperbass was similarly amazing in lower tunings. And the little Ibby 32 scale has a better low B than any Stingray 5 I've owned, and I've had a few. I'm of the view that construction is more important than scale length.
  3. Don't laugh... Ibanez SRMD 205. Mezzo (32 scale) £299 and use some of the rest to upgrade the pickups and preamp.
  4. Have a look at the parts on ebay too. Not unusual for a Stingray neck without tuners to sell for quite a bit above £500. I suppose they are just rare as EBMM won't sell them without first receiving the original one back.
  5. It is! Sounds fantastic, plenty loud enough for home use and doesn't have an annoying fan. It is surprisingly loud through a BF Super Twin! 38.5kg Nope! Never going to happen. Couldn't cope with that anymore.
  6. Three amps Two are loud, fully featured, and quite expensive. The other one is as simple as simple can be and is really an £85 toy with an annoying power supply. Guess which one I like the sound of best? Maybe I just need to get an Ampeg and have done with it?
  7. Oh man. I wish you were closer. I want to swap my pair of One10 for one of these.
  8. Reaper. Its fantastic and there’s a superb series of vids for instructions. Easy to use. Add a cheap interface like a Focusrite and you are all set.
  9. I’ve had times where I’ve used more than 1 in the chain, set differently depending on position. I still do that in my Helix.
  10. Oh - I thought it was more recent. I'd probably still get a Sandberg though.
  11. Wasn't it only announced a few days ago?
  12. Thank you! Very kind.
  13. I had to dislodge the reed using a spoon. The mouthpiece has now been subjected to a soaking in fairy liquid and then another soaking in Milton anti-bac. I'm still tempted to throw it away and get another one.
  14. Dodgy focus... but this is the mouthpiece on my daughter's alto. She's a vile creature!
  15. Mustang..... [/running for cover]
  16. I prefer when the drums lead - mainly because the other people in the band are more likely to be listening to the drums and not the bass.
  17. Apparently the V2 Darkglass has a much quieter fan that is also variable speed. Not tried it myself though. I remember when the V1 was announced. The early pics had a larger chassis and were without a fan. They clearly wanted a smaller unit so needed a fan.
  18. This used to be a for trade only but my needs have changed.... I have 2 of these and will be keeping the other. I’ve only had it a couple of months, but Christmas is coming and the kids have informed me they'd really like a Playstation 5 as the lockdown seems to have ruined any plans we had for family stuff. I need to raise funds for that (and to find somewhere with stock!) I bought it new in September from the good people at GAK. It is still in "as new" condition. Full spec is here: https://www.ibanez.com/usa/products/detail/srmd205_1p_01.html RRP is £299. It really is in brand new condition so I'm looking for £250-ish / near offer. PRICE DROP TO £225.00 Save a few quid on a new one. Please feel free to make an offer though, I won't be offended. They don't come with cases or bags and the box has long since been cut up and used to pack pedal sales so it's collection only from Northants - with suitable masks / social distancing etc. I can set up an amp in the hallway so it can be tested. The low B is fantastic even on a 32 scale - it's easily as good as my Stingray 5. It has a useful 2 band EQ with vol and balance. Payment by PPG only - I can't get cash to a bank with the lockdown as I'm looking after someone post surgery who is shielding. By all means come and try it and then use your smart phone to sort payment when you've had a go.
  19. That sounds quite cool. It's one of those tones that I would never use but like hearing it when other people use it.
  20. Anything from the Anthrax - Spreading the Disease album?
  21. I have no idea where to put this on the forum so I'm putting it here. Use the code in the graphic at the checkout and get 50% off. It's a guitar amp plugin (3 channels + couple of pedals) but as usual it's a plugin so can be used on any signal you like. Vocal / bass / drums / whatever.. Runs standalone or in a DAW. For those looking for bass specific plugins at a discount - keep an eye on their Instagram. They tend to do random discounts every now and again. I already have the Parallax bass plugin but I'm waiting for the B7K one to get discounted too. And the Abasi. And maybe the Plini, and the Cory Wong....
  22. I think that's right. Fender and Gibson have really lost the opportunity to protect their old designs. But at the same time I can't see a neck measurement being able to be protected. It's probably more of a hassle thing and possibly lower sales. Fender forums are full of people upgrading their instruments and the EBMM forum bans people who ask questions about upgrading! So dealing with the hassle of a litigious brand and customers who maybe don't change things on their basses as much might be why there's no aftermarket apart from tuning gears and pickups.
