2.
Imperialist lackey!
Chairman Meow
 3. I just checked and you can still get power supplies for this...
 4.
I'm the fat bloke reading the Guardian, in case you're wondering.
pssst - it's upside-down mate...
 5.
and also we use more simplified versions of musicians now
6. Here's a question for my fellow NS users - the neck to stand join, is it a bare metal plate surrounding the screw or does it have some sort of padding on it?

 8.
and guess what, i just bought a bass from ebay! don't worry, i'm keeping it
Thank **** for that!
 9.
Same singer as did the anti-war classic Eve of Destruction - which may have been more appropriate to this thread.
11.
what i do object to is this notion that as a non-trader bass player, buying and selling a few basses per year, you are morally obliged to sell it for the same price you bought it, and now this is even being suggested by the mods?!
Although we are mods, it doesn't mean that we can't have opinions about 'stuff' in the same way as everyone else can. Johngh was simply stating what his own personal feelings on the subject are. There are no BC rules about 'flipping'. I think it'd be an administrative nightmare, have potential legal ramifications and be a massive over reaction to something that, as far as I can understand so far, is a minority activity that most of you guys spot nearly straight away. If 'rules' are genuinely needed then they get discussed, ripped to shreds or implemented, but we certainly don't want to be going about brandishing pointy sticks for the sheer hell of it - we live here too after all.
 12.
I would not complain at all, thank you. do you want to do paypal or bank transfer?
Unfortunately I tripped down the stairs whilst carrying it and the dog grabbed hold of it just before he spontaneously combusted...
 13. I use both and always stick them in the same input of my amp. If I need to compensate for volume then I just use the volume control on the bass. I am a luddite.
 14. Yep - that sounds pretty much right to me.
 15.
So, the future Mrs. G has suggested that both bands I play in do an hour each at our wedding in September with yours truly on bass, Has anyone else played at their own wedding? I can't decide if its good idea or not.
I've played at both of my weddings. I'll not do it if I get married again...
 16. Sometimes low tech is the best tech.
 17. Not been to the shop but I was less than impressed at their internet sales service and having to ask the same questions repeatedly to get an answer to a very simple question.
 18.
Aah OK, I have a multi meter, is there anyway I can measure the current to check my Batteries in future. I've always done it with voltage and hadn't realised it was not the way to do it. Cheers icatle.
Well to measure current you need to 'break' one of the power leads and put your meter (set to amps)in series with the circuit. Not very convenient though. The easiest way (although still not very accurate) is to take a voltage measurement with the battery under load and make a point of making a note what reading you get when the battery goes 'flat'. Once you have that then you'll at least have a 'figure' to work to. I use a really low tech method - I know roughly how long the batteries in my bass last and keep a spare in the case with the date I installed the last battery written on it. I might throw away a battery with a week or so left in it, but I've never had a battery go dead on me during a gig.
 19. Yes. The original footswitch was a pair of momentary switches with a stereo jackplug to connect to the amp. It was used to control the graphic and mid shape sections.
 20.
I thought that was out of bounds...?
I think it depends on the wording on the ASBO...
 21. Advertising in the Affiliates section is free. The only thing that we demand in return for using the Affiliates section is that those who use it to promote their wares offer a special deal to BC members and that the deal is clearly and unambiguously stated.
 22.
I've had the bass for approx 3 months and the battery I took out was showing 8.3 volts. It's been played every day and done 15 or so gigs so I think it's pretty kind on batteries.
You can't measure battery efficiency like that. They have different discharge characteristics depending on the composition of the battery (i.e. it may show a reasonable voltage but not have enough current to power a device).
I was tempted to say something like "I'll be keeping my knob pushed in" but thought best not to
Probably for the best
 23.
But I probably only typed that so as to try to be the first person ever to use the word "haberdasher" on basschat.
24. I thought it was this weekend! Mind you, I have trouble working out what day of the week it is half the time. If I get a good result from last weeks job interview then I might just treat myself to a day out.
 25. One that we've been looking at recently is XTC's 'Senses Working Overtime'. I have a suspicion that the '12345' part leading into each chorus might be just a little bit catchy. It's a bit of an odd one to dance to though, so we've tweaked the timing of the verses just a tad.
