does that make him the top one hit wonder of all time?
Nah, he's done loads of other stuff.
I'm not really sure why i answered that question as i can't stand Mike Oldfield. His sodding Tubular Bells gets right up my nose and every girl i knew in the 70s had this dross in their record collection.
To get it into perspective though, he was 19 years old at the time, it was Virgin Records first album release (so it could be argued that it helped fund future signings), has sold somewhere between 15M and 17M copies and has regularly popped back into the album charts. (No.66 last year). If I had a track record like that then I don't think I'd be hugely worried.
Looks very nice, I'm guessing it was built by Matsumoku they look a bit like 80's Aria's
Yep they were. I've still got one of those Aria SB900's in that red finish that I bought new back in the 80's.
Let's hope for some nice weather. I'm getting so tired of snow and ice now!
You do know it's being held indoors?

Crikey, is it something in the water? Person A had a go at Person B. Person A has apologised to Person B. Person B has accepted that apology. Person A and Person B are friends again. Three pages in, Person A and Person B have resolved the matter in an adult manner... and we're arguing about it?
But being good at golf is very easy to quantify. You consistently need to take less shots than anyone else to get the ball from the tee to the hole.
Yep. It's cricket for people that can't run.

I have my leg pulled about this all the time. When we finish playing, people seem to ignore the rest of the band and make a beeline to me wanting to know everything from what effects I'm using through to the brand of strings. The worst one started off with "I see you're using speakons instead of jack plugs..."

Stupid, self inflicted, bass-limiting injuries
I'm the opposite I can't stand the sight of my own blood and I'm scared of power tools. I got a couple of big cuts during years working in restaurant kitchens and fainted each time! I donate blood regularly these days but once the needle goes in I don't look until it's come out again, I'd probably throw up.
I'm not too bad with my own, maybe 2 or 3 seconds of stunned inactivity while I decide what I'm going to do about it. I'm fine with other peoples though. -

Hmmm. Broke both my little fingers abseiling down a cliff on a darrrrk storrrrmy night (note to Kiwi - can I have a John Laurie smiley?) and had to play with them taped to the fingers next to them. Sliced my left thumb down to the bone with a scalpel and had to have it stitched by the lead guitarist in the band I was in at the time. If I was in a 'heavy' band then having blood running down your arm whilst playing might have been cool, but this was a folk band, and it wasn't. Managed to catch a finger on my right hand in a table router and nearly lost it. Not too bad because I still had the others, but it was uncomfortable. I now have a finger with a decorative scroll edge. I've usually got a broken, dented or botched bit about my person. -
Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.
Denise famously asked James Brown to fetch her some toilet roll at Chichester Jazz Fest, cos he was dressed in white and she thought he was a janitor,,walked into wrong dressing room by mistake ! classic...
Oh what a classic! -
Ah I didn't get one on mine but I thought it needed 'something' so I made one out of a piece of mouse mat and double sided tape. Cheers Guys

I think we're done here.
"if you bring in 80 people"
I was being optimistic. You're quite right though, many venues would struggle to get people to pay £5 to see an unknown band on a weekend night, but a monday night is a complete non starter.
-
Nope I wouldn't say so. With the way this 'deal' works, if you bring in 80 people and half of them bring their flyers, you'll get a grand total of £40 between you. The venue gets £320 plus whatever food and drink they can sell to those 80 people. Sounds like a rip off to me.

Keep it civil please guys.

It's really obvious when you think about it.... It's a forum of bassists.
Oh... isn't that a 'tent'?
Only if you meant it, otherwise it's an accident...
Find yer own flat stone, I bagged this one!
Well I'm sure as hell not gonna go bury myself under a car park and wait for Time Team to find me...
I wish Bon Jovi would've given me a call before he recorded all of his hits, because the lyrics would've been smarter, the melodies would've been much more smashing...
Oh... ... I think I banned Dave Lee Roth...
A bell-end.
I thought that was a term for a group of camponologists?

I think I need to go lay down somewhere cold and dark...
-
A squabble of bassists struck me as a pretty accurate description for some reason...
-
You're use of bellend was correct then!......well not your bellend....tho i guess it was your bellend as you used it.....in the literal sense obviously!
Well that's cleared that confusion up then...
What the f*** is going on around here lately!
An overabundance of webtosterone it seems.
I've been advised to go to a small claims court to get my postage back. These people either don't understand the law or ignore it believing that no one will bother taking them to court.
As harsh as this may sound, you need to look at the likelihood of success before going through the Small Claims process. It's going to cost £25 to get a case heard. If the retailer is based abroad, they're not going to turn up to the hearing, so you'll definitely 'win'. However, because of the small amounts involved, you have no way of enforcing that 'win'. You're now an extra £25 out of pocket. If the retailer is based in the UK, they may or may not turn up to the hearing and you may or may not win. If they win, then you pay their costs on top of the £25 you paid to get the case heard. If you win, because of the small amounts involved, you have no way of enforcing that 'win'. You're now an extra £25 out of pocket. On balance, if it was me I'd just have to chalk it up to experience and move on.
