  1. I haven't done it myself but some friends of mine take this to a different level, this is one of their Rock Mass services from a few years ago, thy still run these once a month (or do when there isn't a pandemic) the gentleman playing lead guitar on the goldtop les paul is an ordained minister in the CofE, and the lady playing the Warwick thumb 5 NT and lead vocals is is wife, when they're not working their day jobs or rocking the church then they have another band playing rock covers in the pubs around Halifax and Leeds. I hope i'm not breaking any rules posting these here. Matt
  2. I'm more of a seymour duncan person.
  3. I carry one of these, I think I've had it since I was about 10, not the lightest but has every size I have ever needed and can double as a small hammer in a pinch. https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-maintenance/bike-tools/halfords-metric-dumbbell-spanner-969816.html?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Cycling>Bike+Maintenance>Bike+Tools-_-Cycling>Bike+Maintenance>Bike+Tools-_-969816&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istFeedId=62b447cf-331e-4fec-a47a-9985ff72d404&istItemId=xqtmmt&istBid=tzwx&_$ja=tsid:94971|cid:8979078200|agid:94446559127|tid:pla-328770784500|crid:412800844508|nw:g|rnd:16662881451624242591|dvc:m|adp:|mt:|loc:1006948&gclid=CjwKCAjw5vz2BRAtEiwAbcVIL_AFUmp7PPcE5bMY85yOA3wpj2iuN1xhxL3yNO24b_MEoHUkgFuCxRoC6U4QAvD_BwE Matt
  4. it's fighting against my desire for a new 5 string short scale bass though, i have played very little guitar in the past 5 years and my current collection has 5 electrics and 3 acoustics that get only a little bit of use each, i'm not sure if i have ever even gigged my Telecaster. Matt
  5. this thread is making me want to buy another Telecaster! maybe a semi acoustic one would be nice with non-tele pickups to go with my Mex standard. I don't need another Tele, I don't need another Tele, I don't need another Tele, I don't need another Tele, I don't need another Tele, I don't need another Tele, I don't need another Tele, I don't need another Tele,
  6. 🤣 actually that stand is currently set at acoustic guitar height, it used to be adjusted regularly and would hold anything from my small body acoustic right up to my 11.5lb precision, from what i can remember it is at lest 5 years old and more likely it is closer to 10 years old so i feel like i have got my money's worth out of it. My Aria Cardinal is sitting on the other Hercules stand right now but there is no sign if any cracking on that one, it has a different shaped knob to lock the legs so i am guessing it is from a different era of production? the one that failed has a triangular knob and the other one is more circular. i'm going to wait until Thursday before i email, 2 weeks seems fair given the current working conditions. Matt
  7. a quick question for those that have had replacement stands from Hercules, once you had sent over the photos/serial number/address etc, did you receive any more emails from them or did a stand just arrive in the post? I sent the info on the 28th and have so far not heard a peep back (been checking spam folders as well just in case). i'm not totally bothered as i have used a bolt to fix the broken stand at the right height and will happily just use it in the house but a shiny new one would be nice to have another instrument out to play whilst on furlough. Matt
  8. that is a great looking guitar! such a good colour combo Full report when it arrives please. Matt
  9. Yeah I've seen them on ebay go very cheap and then way too expensive, I'm quite a fan of short scale basses and the fenix design appealed, probably going to buy an ibanez tmb35 now.
  10. i'm a member of the fenix group on facebook, don't actually own one but was interested in the short scale basses, i tried to ask about them but couldn't get any kind on sensible message from anyone on what kind of prices they were selling for. Matt
  11. sorry, that was meant for @mcnach i have dealt with him before, (i think the first was a squier badtz maru that we exchanged in a coffee shop in Edinburgh. i could pick this up (and do cash for the seller) and then probably take the neck off and post it up to you. it does need a bit of work though.
  12. that's quite close to me, could aid in the deal if you want. Matt
  13. If you are happy with second hand then the korean squiers are really quite good, i snagged a black and maple one for our guitarist, i can't remember which factory but it was 150 quid! it plays as well as my Mexican standard tele, i've done the 4 way switch mod and fitted cts pots and it sounds great. Matt
  14. as this seems to be the uke thread does anyione have any experience with the uke hanges that clamp onto mic stands (and the like)? i was wondering if they would clamp onto a bookcase so i could have my U-bass and my concert uke hanging near my dek (they seem a bit exposed on floor stands and TBH i'm quite short on floor space as there is a bass, an electric guitar and an acoustic there already this kind Matt
  15. yeah they're not really much use above 7th fret (and not really that great there either) but i find that when playing with acoustics i rarely need to go that high. Also i don't really do the more melodic stuff so it's fine for simply holding down the low end. and it always gets a great reaction because most of the audience will never have seen one. Matt
  16. i have played a couple including the Aria mentioned previosly and a 5 string Ibanez, for me they just were too bulky and a bit too quiet for playing along with unamplified acoustic guitars, i also dallied with a Yamaha BEX4 for a while but the ergonomics didn't really suit me. I ended up going a different route and bought a kala U-Bass and just use a small amp, depending on the situation i either used a marshall practice amp or an acoustic amp. I found that the U-bass was so small and light that i can wear it on my back so carrying a small amp wasn't an issue. the Kala is loud enough for home practice but the very short scale and very rubbery strings aren't to everyones taste (i have fitted Aquila thunder red strings which helped though) Matt
  17. I found some references to this over on talkbass, it seems to give a strange noise on first plugging in, I'm not sure what sorcery musicman are using with this strange socket.
  18. I've got the precision flats on my short scale and really love them, the tension seems about right to me, I have chromes on my 5 string and ernie ball flats on my 77 p-bass but I think the ghs are my favourite
  19. if it isn't threaded you could try a piece of rubber hose that is an easy fit through the middle and then put a nut and bolt through the hose and compress it so it expands to fit the inside of the fitting, then you can grip this whilst undoing the nut. (hopefully that was clear, if not i can try and draw some kind of diagram to try and clarify) Matt
  20. this has got me obsessed now! this kind of work is what i normally do 8-4 Monday to Friday (I'm a design engineer) being on furlough is messing with my head a bit This appears to be the part but it is out of stock (and seems expensive!) are tere any makers marks or any kind of code on the socket? there is an outside chance that Musicman use a special one-off configuration fot this part but the more likely answer is that it's an off the shelf component they just re-brand and sell at a profit. Matt
  21. it could be an Amphenol ACJS-MV-3S which is 4 pole or there are 4 different Switchcraft options with 3 different sized pins so it might be one of those ( the 113 options) it would depend what the internal switching is on the original. i have attached the relevant bit from the spec doc, you just need to put the right numbers and letters in to get the code number. Matt
  22. There are multiple options for both of those makes, the amphenol one has a 4 pole option, it's just a matter of working out what the part code is and then searching for the actual part.
  23. Amphenol make one very similar (possibly identical) spec sheet is on here this one might be it LINKY Matt
  24. i can't be 100% certain but it looks like a switchcraft Hi-D type, have a look at the technical spec doc Here and compare the dimensions and spacing, have a close lok at the original and see if there are any marking to give a model number. Matt
  25. Can you post a picture of it? There are only really a couple of different types so should be easy to point you in the direction of a suitable replacement. Matt
