1.
Would it cost £400 for a set of "quater" pounders?
Its all down to the mass you see.
2.
Truss rod adjustment at the headstock?
Ah, I didnt see that due to the crap photo. Disregard my previous post.
3. The only times I get anxious pre-gig is when there are very few people in the crowd. Playing to an empty pub really brings me down.
4. Looks like a very overpriced and badly photographed Nate Mendel (Which is in fact, based on his 1971 Precision)
5. I have never actually broken a string by playing. I have, on occasions had a roundwound string winding unravel on me, where it has been sitting over the bridge saddle.
6. My missus thinks I,m being ripped off paying £1000 plus for a bass guitar. "Theres one in Argos for only a hundred quid" She quoth.
7. I always take a backup bass to a gig. Seldom needed to use it, but it saved me once when one of the tuners snapped on me. I play a P bass so I always take another P bass as a spare. It can take a while to adjust to the neck profile and nut width from say for example the Nate Mendel to the Limelight 63 though.
8.
Not by me it wouldn't be. Never heard of it.
You may have heard it in the film Reservoir Dogs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8yQuivSEio
9. I read somewhere that the sax player on this hated hearing this song because he thought it was badly played and out of tune. This could probably be the sax version of Moondance.
10. Poor old Gerry only scores 10% on the bass mime-ometer. Didnt Mo Foster play on this track? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgQWjQZydY0&feature=share
11. Michael (Michelle) Steele also sings the lead vocals on the second verse.
12. I quite fancy some comfortable hand feeling.
13.
Yeah, Mod forbid that an admin might falsely accuse a pro of displaying racism at a gig and despite in being only one man's word against another refuse to retract or clarify the matter.
http://mysteriousways-mysteriousdistance.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/adam-clayton-against-racism.html
14.
I find it way easier if I play with a plectrum
Kenny Rogers plays quite a funky bassline with a pick while singing lead vocals on this. (Warning! Country & Western content!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1e9p6J89rQ
15. I used to practice while singing along to the tune while tapping the bass line rhythm with my fingers to keep time.
16. Looks like a R********r has melted!
17. I have the Indonesian SUB. A beautiful well made black and maple jobby. The pre amp is very hot and sends my Markbass into a digital distorted frenzy. I,m gonna get round to rectifying that.
18. I have had to play several gigs all fingerstyle with no picks. I now keep a few picks in my wallet for emergencies.
19. Those two paper templates reminded me of J Kay's hat.
20. Fascinating article here from sound on sound. http://www.soundonsound.com/people/van-morrison-moondance
21. I had to play it once. I used Paul Wolfe's guide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvR_sdtcGPY
22. I love the colour, what is it? - Unfortunately, I already have a Limelight.
23. I tend to use 'cheaper basses' when gigging in rowdy pubs. I no longer have to worry about getting beer thrown over an expensive boutique instrument. Both my Nate Mendel and 90's Squier bitsa are fitted with spb1 pickups, so I have the tone without the worry.
24. Then even do a bass version.
