1.
here, try this exercise: http://www.basssessions.com/aug04/triplet.html
i'm prolly being dense, but i don't understand what's being described there...what does the author mean by "allowing your finger to come to rest on the string directly below it."
  2. i loved my yamaha md8..iirc you could 17mins of 8-track, 34 mins of 4-track, etc. i've still got it - the minidisc section doesn't work, but the 8-track desk does - it was a nice-sounding mixer
  3. i've no idea what the difference is i'm afraid. i can't remember what happened if you put a datadisc in an audio minidisc player.
  4. found it whilst clearing out - i used to use them in my 8-track back when it still worked. it's been unwrapped, but iirc, never used. free to good home
  5. ...sounded brilliant can't say how impressed i am with the sound. it really handled the gig well and my overdriven sound has never been so good. thick and punchy....good enough to warrant compliments from both guitarists yoysah ! i lurv SWR !!! p.s. i also used a volume pedal for the first line live too...sounded great making swells with some reverb and delay. p.p.s. we were videoed too....OOCH !
  6. i use a tlk board and our keyboard player has one for her korg as well. i wouldn't throw them in and out of aircraft but they're fine for the price i think. but the cloth on the inside does come away - i stapled mine down but it's still looking a bit tired.
  7.
Hmm...that's interesting mate! Do you have the specs or rough pricing on how much one would be? Just googled it and can't find much!
no probs...here's the spec. i can't remember the name of the company i bought mine from but it was £300 or so. i'll check when i get home and let you know.
  8. i pair up my ampeg svp-pro with a soundtech ps802 and i love it. 1U and ~16lbs. the only down side is that the fans are quite loud, not an issue live, but noticeable at home.
  9. take a book. there can be a lot of sitting around, which can get frustrating. have fun !
  10.
I love deadlines. I like the whistling noise they make as they go past.
thank you mr. adams
  11. schaller are sending me a replacement spacer plate...for nowt ! hurrah and thrice huzzah !
  12.
What?
plus the one.
  13. i love my svp... i'd add more, but it's just fab...fat and smooth or snotty and overdriven if needs be.
  14.
Worth it for the parts - if it was local to me, I'd 'ave it.
plus the one...

    Sansamp D.I.
Ah - OK . I posted to that thread. Did the Sansamp that got blown get fixed ?
soz...i missed your post. no - i was pi55ed off with it so i junked it, silly i guess. but eventually i bought basmankev's m80 and am a lot happier with the sound.
  16.
I'd also print out a bunch of stuff from Marc Sabatella's website, particularly this bit: http://www.outsideshore.com/primer/primer/ms-primer-4.html
ooh - top tip.
  17.
...the sound man has ultimate control and he can make your Ampeg sound awful at the flick of a switch if you piss him off!
which is why if they say they want to use their own di...i agree !!
  18.
I've always put this down to lazy soundmen, tbh.
plus the one. i'd imagine it's just easier to stick a vanilla di-ed bass sound through a PA than one that's been through a preamp. it annoys me seeings as i like to think that the sound i get out of my amp sounds better than a straight di, but there you go. on a related note - when i've offered the di that i've brought with me (used to be a sansamp, now's a mxr bass di), the soundman's always turned it down...
  19.
I may have confused Montana with Desperado - which are available here - http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZwildwesthog I also got a couple of very nice leather straps from http://www.bulldogproducts.co.uk/ in Penzance
thanks for the tips :0
There was a recent thread on comfy straps with lots of options - best see if you can find it.
indeed there was....here thanks
  20. i just can't find them any more....
  21. my favourite strap is a montana leatherworks all leather jobbie, and is really nicely padded and wide (about 3"/8cm). i'd like to get similar one...any suggestions ? doens't have to be leather, just wide and padded.
