1. i've had one on my fender vi since i bought it...not problems so far.
2. girlfren says she might keep my no. 1 bass (the fender jazz), everything else goes to my best mate in preston, to do with as he sees fit.
3.
my point is: what happened to the days where a bass rig was pretty much designed to be the heaviest thing on stage!
technology happened to those days !!! and huzzah to technology i say.
4.
I see these and other shiny works of art, and yes, they are great eye candy. Then I see some guy down the local live pub with a worn-out Fender with just enough surviving bits of paintwork to reveal that it was once a sunburst, getting a fat, woody vintage growl... and I yearn to have that old simple, passive veteran under my shoulders, much more than a blinged-up object d'art with NASA electronics. I'll get my unfashionable old git coat...
/quiety/ i think they're god-awful looking bases...that blue is just horrific
5. this is more my style
6. anyone ever used one on bass ?
7. it's a bass synth...i think boss describe it quite well http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/SYB-5/
8.
Latest in the saga... guitarist 1 has full out refused to play it or anything between now and the end of august... *rolls eyes*
tell them you'll play without them.
9.
Wonder why he took it bits I probably would have had it as it was looked very nice, shame.
the seller says "I bought this a couple of years ago with a load of other parts to build up a Sabre Cutlass style bass which I have now taken apart. " but it's till a shame a sabre's been taken apart...i'm having a bit of a epiphany with mine at the moment.
10. another one here
11. are the pole pieces on the pickup staggered ? just curious...they are on my sabre
12. i'd be right onto one of these if i hadn't recently decided 'no more overdrive pedals'
13. nowt galvanises a band faster than an impeding gig* book it for a months time, and then practise the set till then. you're not a band until you've played a gig ! *other than dipping them in hot zinc that is
14.
mind you I've never seen Jaco play with a plectrum, that would of been interesting.
indeed.
15.
if you do not play "fingerstyle" you will be missing out on control, feel, the ability to slap and pop, easy volume control with your fingers alone, right hand damping, double harmonics, finger tapping.....and on and on....
developing control, feel and volume control with a plectrum is just a matter of practise, as much as acquiring the same skills with fingers is.
16. playing with fingers isn't 'proper' playing any more than playing with a plectrum is. i tend to play with a plectrum at lot more than i do with fingers simply because i prefer the sound. i'm also a lot better at it. that's not to say i don't play fingerstyle...
17. black, of course
18. i'm a bit too scared of the plate voltages on valves to go down that route. i've built plenty of op-amp and tranny-based circuits before, so i'd prolly be looking at that again. that kit looks good, but a bit too pricey tbh
19.
That's nice. For a while I was after one of those myself in sunburst. Why don't you use it much these days?
it just doesn't get the sounds i like to be honest...it's pretty darn clanky for a semi, but as i tend to use a very clanky sound it doesn't quite cut it. it plays well, but just isn't for me any more.
20. just mooching round the 'net i found this again, something i stumbled across a while ago. in my quest to get rid of the 'annoying fan' situation i've just scored a cheap silent power amp from ebay and i thought i might try to cook up my own pre to go with it. anyone ever tried this ? know of any good schematics ?
21. ok, here's mine. it used to have some mods (hence the two small switch holes between the vol and tone controls), but now it's back to stock. it's lovely, but it's mainly used for 'on the knee' noodling whilst watching tv these days. as i said...could be up for sale.
22. perhaps cos it's pick-up only ?
23. not to my taste, but then i'm not a huge fan of figured woods.

mxr m-80 di+

just to add i've just come back from practise where i was using a peavey solid state bass head and an ampeg 8x10, with the eq on the head set flat...just relying on the mxr for eq. sounded fabby...both with and without the distortion channel.
