Cool my nan still lives in Tottenham, how much of a rush are you in?
no desperate rush. just to mention mine just has a piezo, no preamp...but if you're just into noodling round the house...is that a problem ? and the action on mine is fine btw !
  2.
I get up to London quite a bit, where abouts?
i live in tottenham, but work at the british library.
  3. ever get up to london ? i'm wanting rid of my acoustic bass...it's a no-name with an not-too-shabby sound. i was only thinking of about £50...i'd even chuck a unsed set of strings in
  4.
Simply sensual. Is that an ebony board?
i think it is. it's certainly very similar to the tigerstripe on my fretless.
  5. i took some photos a while back of my musicman sabre, so here they are for your delectation. enjoy !!
  6.
EDIT: I liked the cheapy Warwick sets at around £11 from Stringbusters. IIRC they did Elites for around £15 last time i looked too
i've switched from elites (which i was using for about 15 years) to warwicks, based on a set of warwick reds i got a year or so ago. admittedly i've moved up to the warwick blacks now, but i love them.
I'm very interested if I shift some of my clearout bargains - unless you want a mixer, v-amp, xlr cables, stereo bar, mic stands or a midi controller in trade? been looking for one of these for ages, one of my lecturers at uni had one and they sound awesome.
much like you, i'm really trying to get rid of stuff at the moment, so i'm after a sale rather than a trade. it's a great unit - fingers crossed on your clearout.

    SOLD

ok, up for grabs, my squelchy ebs iq pedal. this is one of the older models (not true bypass) - bought from mark at bass direct. it's only had spare-room use so it's pretty much in as-new condition. comes with box and instructions. shall we say [s]£85[/s] £80 posted ? paypal or meet up (central london)
  11.
also, what do you guys cover the daisy chain plugs you're not using (if there are any?!) with? i've done a search and seen blu-tak and electrical tape, but that all sounds a bit messy to me.
i use the insulation from mains cable - cut a length a couple of inches long, and then pull out the cables from the inside. you can slip this over the unused connectors in your daisy chain (trimming it to length if you like), and it stops them touching anything else. if it's a tight fit, bung the insulaton in some warm water for a minute and this usually softens it enough to stretch it over the plug ! viola !
  12. i put a set of pyramid golds on my jack casady bass last night, after being won over by them on my fretless. it's the 1st btime i've put flatties on a fretted bass - fantastic sound
  13. i've got a fretless rockbass fortress and i love it. i'll prolly be splashing out on one of the newer model fretted fortresses when they come out (later on this year i've heard...hopefully)

  15.
Saw this thread and thought I'd add that Marquee Moon by Television also has some tasteful, almost faultless bass playing. Not fancy, but incredibly steady and spacious. I love it.
very much plus the one. i was listening to the album today. the bass playing on marquee moon is, to me, not far off perfect. but then...marquee moon eh ? pretty much a work of genius. and yes...sultans of swing - lovely bit of work.
  16. plus the one for red onion. i've got one of their loop bypass swtches and it works a treat
  17. i play chords on the bass quite a bit...but never above the octave, cos that just being a guitar isn't it ?
  18. my thoughts are this: even if the venue/management/whatever have told you that the headline band were providing amps and drum kit, i'd still get in contact with them to verify it and say 'thank you very much'. this also avoids any confusion about what 'backline' is or isn't. loan of drum kit (to my mind, and to every drummer i've played with) does not include cymbals and snare - each drummer should bring their own breakables. pints and a hearty handshake are always offered to whoever gear you've borrowed. that's not gig ettiquette, that's just common decency. i think the band the OP was playing with was being a little precious...but a wee bit of communication goes a long way.
  19. i've either turned off or deactivated the tweeters in every cab i've owned, as all i've found them to do is to add annoying hiss - so i don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with your amp.
  20.
If it overheated then it would suggest that there is something fundamentally wrong with it and should be replaced, and certainly not "repaired" with tape. Bin it and buy a new one.
plus the one
  21.
I'd rather staple my tongue to my foreskin...
chuck us a cloth to wipe the tea of my laptop screen
  22.
what do you lot think?
the pickup's in completely the wrong place as well - far too close to the (schaller) bridge
  23. why was it a problem leaving the ac adapter plugged in all night ?
  24. this sounds interesting...i can make fuzzy noises on bass, and like the sounds of DFA and postal service. singing's not my forte, but given a run-up i can give it a bash. and sorry steve...i'm not following you around, honest
  25.
Definately - on it's extreme settings it gets a very very good gated synthy fuzz which is pretty close to the multi-tracked Hysteria bass tone.
i'm not muse expert, but plus the one on the blowtorch. the zvex masdotron gives a good approximation as well - very gated.
