1. i had a 15mm overbite when i started playing bass. that's pretty dam goofy
2. and one last proce drop before it goes to ebay
3.
pointless discussion. He's the best bassist for RHCP, you cant go beyond that, too subjective.
plus the one. total waste of time to ask who's 'best'
4.
... and those Tyneside Precisions! Out on a Saturday night in all weathers with no covers!
all fur coat and nay knickers ? must be a darras hall precision
5. well i tried mrcrow's suggestion, but only succeeded in knocking a corner off the offending screw. now what ? drill it out or just snap the bassplate off ? i'm thinking it might be a better option to just buy a new pedal - there's no guarantee that i can get it working properly anyway.
6. can i add something not related to bass ? please stop making the kick drum sound like an alesis drum machine.
7. what a dreary thing to do.
8. 2 months on a DB are you're doing gigs ? wow...good going !
9.
If my A-level physics from last year is right, then due to a quirk of physics I can't quite remember, possibly called the lorentz force, a conductive object, i.e. metal, moving through a magnetic field will feel a dampening force due to the conservation of electricity. This will happen with the metal bass strings as they vibrate through the magnetic field of the pickups, which is why I've heard some people say your pickups shouldn't be too close to the strings.
yup - you're totally correct - had that problem with my musicman sabre. but that's down to a bad set-up, nothing to do with the intrinsic properties of the instrument itself.
10. forgive me if i'm wrong, but what does sustain have to do with pickups ? surely sustain comes from the mechanical aspects of the bass - pickups just amplify what's there already. good pickups on a bass that sustains like a wet washing line will still sound like a wet washing line - just a hi-fi washing line !
11. i think you need to take synth pedals for what they are. if you want the sound of a novation bassstation or a moog, then use a bassstation or a moog. i like my boss syb-3 for the slightly messed-up synth sound it gives, but it aint no synth. mind you - i've not used expensive pedals like a deep impact so i would know about how they work. but then...for the price of a deep impact......i'd just buy a synth
12.
I once did a gig with a 5w practice guitar combo. What made it worse was the fact that the gig was an open-air festival on the Mir Space Station and was thus performed in the vacuum of Space.
mir ran a 27v DC supply...no wonder you were quiet.
13. and sold to jasperjames
14. it's small, it's black and i just makes it louder ! if you're looking for a nice clean boost to match the volumes of different basses or (my favourite) want to drive the input of your amp a bit harder, this is prolly for you. to my ears it's a lot more transparent than an mxr micro amp. condition wise - it's been gigged, so has the odd scratch and blemish on it and has some velcro on the bottom which should be easy to remove if you're not into the sticky stuff. let's say £45 delivered ? paypal only please, or cash for a meet-up in central london edit: the box and instructions went awol ages ago...but do you need instructions ?
15.
One thing you should try if you haven't already is to try and tighten it further...... sounds mad but works... should help losen it up
that's how i managed to free the other three !!
i used to use a fine chisel and tap it round the edge in the appropriate direction...anti clockwise the closer you get to the edge the more torque you get what you are doing is jarring it out with little licks.. instead of a fine chisel a screwdriver head might do and go easy...mark
thanks crow-san, i'll give that a whirl
16. welcome indeed !
17. right - here's the score. played the wettest gig i ever a few weeks ago in wales, and all my equipment survived, except for my boss bass chorus - it no longer works properly when powered by a wall wart (sound is distorted and very quiet). now, i'd like to get the back off to check it's not something easy to fix, but one of the screws on the bassplate is frozen in - i've tried WD40, heating the head of the screw up with a soldering iron, but still no luck...and the screw's getting pretty stripped now. any good ideas before i give up and drill the offending screw out ?
18. he invented the jazz bass i'm eternally in his debt.
19. sold to gazwb pending the usual. edit: usual received with thanks.
20. anyone tried one of these out yet ? i'm looking at the vid on the ehx site and it sounds like it would be spot on for the techno/breakbeat band i do now and again. greasier and nastier than my ebs iq.
21. it's small, it's blue and it's very fuzzy ! bedroom use only - apart from a wee bit of dust it's in as-new condition, with original box and instructions. £75 delivered to your door. paypal or meet-up in central london.
22. that's great. very clever..thanks.
...but I'd be a bit worried that it'd look like you're playing one of those toy guitars once you've got it strapped on.
a bit worried ? why ? you'd look like a GIANT !
24. that's amazing ! hard to believe it's real, although i'm quite prepared to believe the camera buffs
