1. i'm certainly impressed with the bottom end (missus !), and my worries about the tweeter were unfounded...it's not too brash. but then it must be said i don't like tweeters at all...if the non-defeatable tweeter does bug me, i intend to rewire the cab to remove the crossover and tweeter, or fit an L-pad.
2.
Man i love my fortress. I dont really like the way it looks but the bass itself is getting pretty close to perfect. Id love a new Masterman with a few added tweaks. Do you have one?
nope, sorry.
3. i think they're fugly.
4. you folks aren't helping my warwick gas.
5. that's beautiful
6. well it's here, and sounds lovely. i've not had a decent 1x15 before and it rewlly does add some meat to the lower end. very light too ! this i like, cos i'm quite weedy really. so the peavey 4x10 really has to go now...i'm running out of space in my spare room !!!
7. it's ages since i posted any of my music online, but what the hey... here you are folks...it, ahem, drifts off toward the end and it's still a work in progress. edit: and will wait for a better mix in the morning.
8.
The Boss pedal can struggle below C on a 4 string bass (I use one).
my pearl octaver struggles below C as well. it works great for fretless, but as you say... what are you doing down below low C anyway ? ymmv au naturellement
9. still available folks although it's headed to gumtree in a few days.
10. i put some flatties on my new fretless and now my roundwound basses sound too bright !! i've ordered some pyramid fretless strings for the fretless, and i think i'll tansfer the rotosound flatties onto my p-bass.... see how they sound.
11.
I share my birthday with... March 17: Michael Ivins (1963)
michael ivins - cool bass player i share mine with Václav Jiskra (1881); Tommy Cogbill (1932); Paul Gray (1972) and i've no idea who any of them are !
12. could be almost anything - loose connection...problems with the power stage. hie thee to an amp tech !
13. ebs microbass great headphone amp as well as everything else it does. not cheap mind, but you'll only ever buy it once !
14. hey fatos, i was hoping to move them on together, but for you...? gwaan then. PM me.
15. ok folks, seeing as i've got a new 1x15 coming at the weekend, i really have to bite the bullet and clear some space. here we have what was my gigging rig for many years - a very pre-gibson trace elliot gp7 150w head and a peavey 410T cabinet. the cab's 350/700w as per the later 410tx and tvx models. the head's in very good nick - no crackly pots. the carpet covering's less than great but hey...it's been 'well gigged'. i did exchange the cooling fan a year or so back, but that's the only time i've had it open in the....ouch, lemmie think...the 15 years i've had it. i did hoover it out when i exchanged the fan. the hoovering didn't affect it at all. it's still a bloody loud 150w. the peavey cab's had its fair share of grinds and bashes, but still sounds great. i installed a switch in the body of the cab to defeat the tweeter years ago...i can take this out if you like, or leave it in. if i were to remove it, it would take the cab back to stock. this is a collection-only sale. i'll say that again...you come to my house. try it out, drink some tea and take it away if you like it. you might meet my girlfren. she's very nice oh yes...i live in tottenham in north london. i'm asking £180 for the head and cab, which is a fair price for a cracking little rig. and yes...there is a kettle lead included. but i may need to search out a speaker cable. pics if you want them. EDIT: attached a pic of the peavey - at the bottom of the stack.
16. pics would be lovely. i think i'm being seduced by warwicks
17. electro acoustic would give you the chance of running the bass into the desk for a bit more volume...and more flexibility for other gigs. electro acoustic and semi-acoustic are different beasts. electro acoustics usually use some kind of pickup in the bridge to directly sense the strings and are more like purely acoustic instruments...semi's are more like electric instruments with some degree of hollowness in their construction. if that makes sense ?
18. tidy bit of work there. i reckon that sometimes the smaller, more intricate jobs are the most satisfying.
19.
Not a Warwick fan generally but the black Streamer (?) looks very nice
plus the one. if only they'd reissue the fortress. i'd be all over it.
20. if it's a totally ampless gig, then i don't think a semi-acoustic will be much use to you...they're louder than solid-bodied, but quieter than full acoustics.
21. i used to have an HH 1x15 that i used very briefly with the 2x12 and it seemed to add a lot. it was a good price, so i thought i'd go for it.
22. i just bought an eden 15" cab of ebay. i'm going to be getting rid of my antediluvian peavey 4x10 (along with my trace elliot head), and adding the eden to my swr 2x12. i've been missing some low end to be honest, even with the peavey in there. and then....no more rig tweakage. i'm not even in a band ferchrissakes !!
23. i had a dean markley overlord for a while (before it fell apart !)...which i think was a version of the tube driver. ok...but too much distortion. blue tube's the way to go.
24. mine's the pedal version...which although i'm very happy with, the bias control would be nice
25. aha ! i finally got one that works !!! i had one of these before, and it was pretty knackered when i got it and eventually it just gave up the ghost. however...it sounded great. so i chanced my arm and when one turned up on ebay i went for it. and this one sounds better than i remembered i put a lower gain valve in and it's just amazing. it can add a bit of warmth or some nice 'on the edge' overdrive sounds. top stuff !
