Gone

I've got the passive version so I can vouch for how good Sharks are. The wooden-necked Status basses get overlooked a bit, but they're cracking instruments. GLWTS
  2.
I quite like it and I usually hate gaudy finishes! Reminds me a bit of the old Levinson Blade Jazzes.
My problem is it's not black
  3. I'd be all over this, but.... that finish.

    NBD - Shuker!

That's a corker. What a treat for your 50th. Happy Birthday
  5.
Whats wrong with rehearsaling then?
Its boaring
  6.
Shame he begun a sentence with 'As'....
began
  7.
Note to purchasers: If you buy this cab my face will NO LONGER be on the badge - it'll be YOUR face. But ONLY if you look at the badge directly, as above.
8. If I read the manual correctly there's no control over the attack and release of the compressors - for bass I think I'd want control over as many paramerters as possible - but I'm a bit of a knob-tweaker ! I'd deffo want to hear it in action first - any reason to get a four channel model rather than a dedicated mono one ?
  9. There's a bit of the story about the end of Trace Elliot here. Interesting article to boot.
  10.
There's a Dean 8 string Rhapsody on one of the Facebook selling pages recently, it's the one where Col (Buzzardist) of these parts is an admin - The Great UK Bass Guitar Gear Exchange. The guy is after £500 for it, but the last sale fell through so he's probably open to negotiation.
I'd say £500 is rather ambitious, but they're great basses.
  11. As a convenient temperature guide, if you can keep you finger on something just for about a second before it's too hot then it's about 70 deg C. Um....just thought I'd throw that in !
  12.
I want ashtrays!
Avatar-specific humour I dig
  13. Hey, nice one.
  14. I simply hope they got a bass player they get on with and have fun with.
  15.
Aimed at Fender! Sorry.
Noooo - I didn't think you were having a dig at me, just everyone seems to be getting rather serious about it. I just thought it was something nice to play with
  16. Yes, pics would be great. I've been after a Geddy for a while...
  17. And there I was thinking it was just a bit of fun !
  18. about $2k gets me this. Matching headstock and black hardware would have been cooler. But still.... Hmmmm.....come to Pookie
  19.
Reading between the lines, it looks to me like they were beginners starting their first band and didn't want someone too far above their skill level.
Indeed, or they think the last bass player overplayed and they want something simpler. They're being honest about what they want - don't want to stick to root notes ? Don't apply. Great - nobody's time is being wasted.
  20.
A boxy middly bass-light tone doesn't sound ideal on paper, but it can work really well live. YMMV, of course.
Plus the one. A smiley EQ can sound great when you're playing on your own, but mids will get you heard live.
  21. I'd go with the Warwick if routing's not a problem. They're great bridges and wonderful bits of engineering !
  22. I'm amazed she survived being hit by a steam train.
  23.
I find the synth ok for my needs.... Ie long drawn notes, but for anything more intricate I struggle to get anything useable out it.
Despite my laser noises joke earlier on, this is one of the more useable sounds it can do - sort of a big phat bass synth swell. I dug mine out on the back of this thread and had a great time with 'Sledgehammer'. Very good octaver.
