1. I get twitchy about buying instrument on UK EBay. It would take a very brave mood for me to even entertain the idea of buying a bass from eBay from the US. US online shops is a different matter, and I think a couple of those offer such a scheme.
2.
as the title states my wanted add is not visible as its gone down the list, yet cant bump it back to being visible is there a reason? i know people will find it with the search but i seem unable to respond to anything in that section, having paid £20 to use the section for a year how come i cant fully use it? andy
The wanted section is free of charge, so no £20 fee to use that bit Sadly, a very small minority of members chose to misuse the Wanted section by posting trade offers and details of their available instruments as a reply to the wanted thread, rather than pm or pay their own subscription and create threads to advertise their equipment, and as such the decision was taken to remove the ability to post in such threads. We are still looking at ways of improving the situation and make the section more useable, so please feel free to fire any ideas our way
3. To repeat my comment in the Gear Porn thread: I can't imagine they will be worlds apart in terms of electronics. It will likely be a very similar, if not the same, preamp. Any chance you can have a play first? As the neck profile will be somewhat different from the 89, even more so if it has a gloss finish. Will have a deeper profile and feel a good bit chunkier. Weight should be about consistent with a 5 string version of what you have. DiMarco has a better knowledge of Lolphins than most, so hopefully he will be along to give a better answer. Value? Warwicks are all over the place at the moment, but anything under £1500 and IMO you are doing well
4. meh Like so many Warwick LTD's, it just doesn't do it for me. I would be interested to hear how it sounds with that electronics combination, but the general look of the bass and the wenge/maple neck/fretboard combination leaves me a little cold
5. I'd also be interested in Ditto X2 reviews!
6.
Any experiences of a fretless 5 string dolphin pro 1 2001ish with Bart soap bars against an 89 4 string with Bart mm + j ? Owned the 4 for many years and may now have found a 5 for sale. Curious how the sound is with differents pickups and later manufacturing compares? What's a fair price for a 5 like this? 8.
used it the first time on monday practice... honestly it's the bass sound I hear in my head, flipping amazing!
Awesome stuff, figured out those pickup switches?
9. I have to say, the Vintage completely underwhelmed me, so this doesn't get me too excited, particularly if it is at the B7K price point, which it almost certainly will be. Keen eyes will spot the picture also shows the revised B7K that I took delivery of earlier this month, which has the additional attack controls and slightly different look/layout. It's a good improvement over the original and actually makes the attack switch usable without sounding too harsh
10. Darkglass Vintage Deluxe, thoughts?
11. It is a typical difference between nickel and steel really. My own view is that nickels sound better than steel for me on denser, heavier woods (Warwicks ). They also have a gentler feel to the fingers, as opposed to steels that can feel like they are ripping your tips apart if you like sliding It really is personal preference, though. There used to be a video that Ed Friedland put up comparing all DR strings, but I can't seem to find a working link now!
12. My custom Grand Tarkin/Knightfall together with my Darkglass B7K gives me all the drive tones I could ever want! Just a gated fuzz away from being perfect
13. Depends on what it is really. Unfortunately, that image gives very few clues! All maple construction.....that's about it! Think you can just about see it doesn't have a brass nut so its probably a 00's bass, possibly recessed straplocks so would say 2000-2002. On that basis, I would say anywhere between £1k and £1.2k depending on it's condition, which does look good. Worth watching if you are local! (how are you getting on with your thumb?? )
14. Once for the birthday list I reckon!
15. Trade or sale?
16.
I think it's had a bit of studio work, but that Wolstenholme mega-fan Kaputsport gets pretty close on his YouTube vid (think it's "Muse Tones 2") and I think he uses OC-2, Big Muff and Human Gear Animato stacked through LS-2 inputs A&B, and the Akai Deep Impact. You might struggle to get that from the B3 unfortunately. ..
See, I listened to that and I thought he was miles off, if we are talking about the same video?

*SOLD*

£550 is a steal for such a bass
18. Fuzz and Octave should be good enough for the gig. I have no idea how he gets the tone he does, it certainly isn't simple and a Deep Impact wont manage it, or at least I could never get it to sound anything like.
Amazing basses man ... so so nice. You'll need to make it a trio with a fretless Thumb!
Haha, stop! I don't even know what the acronym GAS stands for anymore... And the owl? No idea, il ask the missus!
