It is too metallic for some I'm sure, but the B7K and it EQ is a huge step up and it's hands down the best bass overdrive for me. The vintage I disliked as the tone I found very ordinary and too much like what is already out there, certainly not a pedal I want £200 invested in. perhaps the EQ on the deluxe will have the same result as the b7K!

Ah, just remembered this bass. I nearly went for a trade deal involving this bass with the previous owner and in hindsight its a deal I should have done!

He also likes his strings very fresh, which will also help. He doesn't use too much in the way of effects, at all. All the tone is in the Jazz and those fingers.

Sorry, can you just clarify what you mean? Is the bypass switch not working? Or do you mean you can't switch it back to normal Oc-2 mode?

It self oscillates, a nice surprise, at extreme settings and THE most responsive fuzz ever played, acts differently to attack pressure and can get great subtle sluttery diminishing tones with different tone control. A really fun, awesome box of tricks! got a fantastic clean boost as well. Took me a while to get my head around the greatness of this box actually, the filters and how they blend ands a further element of sonic capabilities. Yeah, Tom is a cool guy, real patient with my banter, questions and pestering but most importantly he knows and pedals, a lot. [/quote] Over adjusted by the previous owner I think, the top of the neck was rather weak on the old models, but I guess what was sacrificed in strength was gained in comfort. The CS is a stunner, I'd have done a deal with John if I could meet his price!

It is also quite reassuring having the volute, having seen several and owned one non-volute Warwick with a crack in that area If you are unsure, I would be hesitant about buying it. The market is slow and it may not be a matter of selling it on quickly if it isn't to your liking. You could be stuck with it for months!
