1. Hey Hans, do you still have the Lakland 44-94DLX? If so, would you consider any trades?
2.
Yeah, you could do me your Sandberg Cali PM in a straight swap! The PM's are lush. My ultimate trade hankering was for a Fender Precision, of some type.
Haha! Not a chance I've only just gotten my hands on the Sandy after hankering for one for ages and now I'm in love, so she's going nowhere any time soon; truly splendid basses - I plan on getting a few more Sandbergs... a Ken Taylor and a Custom Supreme would do it. What about a trade for Warwick Corvette $$? (don't worry, I think I know the answer to that already )
3. Bump - what have you got BC'ers...hit me up with any trade offers, I just might accept!
4. Alright, now that is a tasty looking bass! If only I had the readies... anything in my signature tickle your fancy trade wise?
5. Ooooh nice bass! I like the sound of it too. Bonne chance avec la vente et bien joué sur 'So Lonely'
6. I just sold one of these to raise funds for a Sandberg. These are very well made, excellent sound and a very fast payable neck; really awesome bass for the price! Bump!
7. Wow, that's the second one of these beauties I've seen here on BC and both times, I'm flat broke One day.....have a bump!
8. Having just picked up a Sandberg California in the past week, I can testify to just how awesome these basses are. Amazing build quality, killer tone and superb electronics. What more could you want?! The 3-band EQ will give excellent tonal variation for a 1 pickup instrument. If I had the readies, I'd buy this in a moment.
9. Hi all, I've got a Warwick Corvette $$ in Nirvana Black which I traded with GriffJamerson for a Lakland 44-02 last year. Recently I've been offering up for trades, but due to a sudden GAS attack for a fretless bass, this has to go to raise the necessary funds. Tone: Not much to say other than it's a great bass with excellent tone, massive tonal variation due to the MEC double humbuckers, 2-band EQ and coil taps on each pickup for Serial/Single Coil/Parallel wiring. As usual, amazing for slap and just about any other style you care to mention. Condition: The bass is in good condition; the neck and frets are near perfect, but the finish on the body has some wear and the pole pieces on the pickups are showing some signs of rust (the previous owner lived on the coast), however there are no knocks or dings to speak of. Price: I need to raise £650 for the fretless I've seen, I was asking for that same price, or very nearest offer but I'll let it go for [s]£650[/s] [s]£575[/s] for a quick sale. I know that the value of Warwicks on BC isn't great at the moment but hopefully someone will be feeling feeling generous - it's a great bass after all! The bass is located in Leeds and collection is preferred so people can see the wear on the body, but I'm happy to post via Interparcel for additional cost of postage, or can arrange to meet somewhere around Yorkshire (Leeds, York etc). Feel free to get in touch if you want more information. Thanks for looking Pics: More pictures illustrating the wear on the finish in the album here: http://s642.photobucket.com/albums/uu141/o...0Double%20Buck/
10. I bought a Sandberg California PM off Tony last week and I second all the earlier posters comments! Great guy to deal with; not just straight up and easy going, he also has impeccable taste in basses and sold his to me at a very nice price - highly recommended. Cheers Tony!
11. Indeed, you've got nothing to worry about there BottomE. Of course ensure that in any interactions or correspondence you kill him with kindness and stick to the facts, but the auction mentioned it would be shipped in a hardcase and it was. eBay would definitely not find anything wrong with what you've done. Sounds like another cheeky eBayer trying it on. I suppose since the case condition wasn't specified, he imagined that he was getting a brand spanking new case or something and feels jibbed with what he got; but at the end of the day, he got what he paid for
12. Gotta admit, that it is one fruity looking bass. Not sure about the whole drop D extended E string; surely would make playing in drop D an oddity? Either way, I'd love to play on one just to see what they're like - I've heard nothing but great things.. Good luck with the sale Cyber!
13.
What year is yours? Looks nice. And what price?
Hey big thump, what bass is that in your profile pic? Looks very similar to my Tanglewood Baron? P.s. good luck with the trade/sale!
14. These have both been posted on my thread asking for help on how to play, but both awesome examples of groove with a side of funk: Marlena Shaw's 'Feel like makin' love' (Chuck Rainey): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzUrjmYM53g and Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons' 'The Night' (Joe Long - I think): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsSoDsxB7Yo
15. Cheers for all the input guys @jcater if you could that would be awesome, I've got the verse down It's the next section that's the killer @Iojo - definitely give it a go, the more the merrier at this party Yeah, jamersonshook on YouTube has some great soul bassline covers, his Jamerson attempts are very good. Slightly off topic, but on the subject of amazing bass lines has anyone heard the Chuck Rainey line on Marlena Shaw's cover of 'Feel like makin' love'? Now that is some super tasty bass playing. That's one for the list for sure!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzUrjmYM53g
16. Bump for price dropped to £200 collected or £220 delivered.
17. Same experiences, it the other way round for me. My first ever band had an amazing young drummer (goes by the name of Matt Wilson from Tunbridge Wells). He'd been gigging with a hard rock / funk band for years before we started our band and I think I struck gold playing with him. We always clicked immediately, read each others playing and new instinctively when to play up or down. In the years I've known him I don't think he ever dropped a beat or lost his rock solid timing - literally as reliable as a metronome but with great feel. I always sounded amazing on bass when I played with Matt, and in truth I think it was all him. More recently I started playing with a band who have a great drummer, he's very passionate about playing and really pounds the drums but he's got serious issues with keeping it steady and not losing beats. I find I'm always having to hold the rhythm and to be honest, It's a bit of a pain, but I love the music and we have a lot of fun so It's all good. Still, I'd love to get myself into another band with a drummer like Matt. It would be excellent to sound that good again
18. Yeah It's a cracking tune and one of the first songs I heard that really brought the bass to my attention. It's fair to say it was one of, if not the song that got me into playing. Beedster I reckon you're right, a super tight band would be crucial for this one. Kirby I know exactly the bit you mean, very Jamerson like, lots of chromatic runs/licks over the chord progression. Really awesome bit of playing. I'll get there one day
19.
Hi, firstly let me congratulate you on your impeccable taste. For me too, this track is a classic. I have done a version of this which is ALL BASS (chords melody and bass line) except for drums and organ. The first bit it about the timing (aint it always). Listen to the spacing of the notes - i know its fast but it has a distinctive phrasing which makes it work. The notes over the chord changes on the intro and subsequent verses are based around: Ab | G | B | C Start there. Whilst the notes are on the root there is an important chromatic run from the G to the B. The chorus is another matter... Have fun
Hehe, thanks! I'm just glad I've actually found someone who knows the song, let alone likes it too. Anyone I've mentioned it to just looks at me blankly. I'd managed to figure out the timing of the notes and progression of the intro but that's about as far as I've got Out of interest, do you think that this is played on the record with fingers of a pick? From the sound, I'm assuming it's fingers but hot damn they're fast fingers if it is, especially over the chorus. Cheers for your input BottomE!
20. Hi guys, For years I've been listening to the amazing bassline for this track, and I just can't even begin to get my head round it. Does anyone know how to play it, or have any ideas on where to start? In particular it's the pre-chorus and chorus that has me completely struggling; It moves so fast! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsSoDsxB7Yo Cheers, Oli
21. And another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ReDe5hfmmw Sorry if this one has done the rounds before, but loving the mad skills
22. Out of interest, do you have any sound clips of the bass? I'm sure that would help some people
23. That is a nice looking bass! Kudos on your luthiering (sp?) skills Pete. Sadly not an unlined fretless player nor have the money, but have a bump on me!
24. Still available for trade or sale. Had a couple of trade offers but nothing concrete. Will lower the price to £225 delivered (within UK) for a speedy sale. Funds needed to satisfy a crippling GAS attack
25. This is a cracking looking bass and one hell of a nice price! Out of interest do you have any sound clips of it in action? I am sorely tempted but need to raise some funds before I could be serious
