What, the Daschund? Very much enjoying mine, does the business nicely. I just need some strap locks as the body shape means I tend to push it off the strap at the front moving about. Would definitely like another one, at some point. Will see what I opt for - and I'll probably be begging your advice again Gary, always appreciated
Hey Gust0o, I just picked up some strap locks for mine as it had the stap lock buttons but not the pins for the strap. I ended up plumbing for these which as it turns out use the exact same pins as were already on my Spector. They're dead easy to use and seem very secure (they've survived all my kick-jumping and moshing antics so far). My one complaint is that you can't really tuck your lead through between your strap and bass body before plugging it in as it runs the risk of engaging the unlock mechanism. It's a minor point, and I know what I'd prefer out of my lead accidentally unplugging from my bass, or my beautiful Spector smashing on the floor
VERY nice mate! Congrats As you know, I have a black AND a white one of these and I love them....
+1 I love the look of that one too. The twin J pup config is a nice touch

Not much to say about this other than it's a really great little amp providing 280w at 4Ohm. In excellent condition, rarely gigged and with a custom built cover by Matamp. Looking to trade for something like a Trace Elliot or Ampeg with similar power handling/output, otherwise happy to sell at [s]£280[/s] £260 collected from Leeds, West Yorkshire. Will post pics asap.

Hmmm, I've never been the biggest TE fan, but jammed with one the other day and it was absolutely awesome. Really crisp punchy tone, which when coupled with my Spector sounded ridiculously phat. I WILL buy that head, as long as I can shift my current Gallien-Krueger RB400-IV. Sadly no use for the cab (althlugh they do look sweet together) as I've got a 4x10 Ampeg already.
Thats absolutely stunning mate, my spector is a 2001 so has the all maple body too, they also have the full brass bridge too (i believe, the wonderful cetera will be able to confirm this) very crisp cutting sound but loads of bottom too, i'd love a 4 string to go with it, you/ll probably find yours is closer to doug whimbish's spector than the current euro lx version, i believe yours will be known as a NSCR4 FM. Give me a shout if you move it on
Yeah, according to PJ it's one of the solid brass bridge models. I used it for a gig for the first time last night and it was absolutely awesome. Such a nice deep tone, tonnes of punch and cuts right through the mix - I love it I can't see me moving it on any time.soon, but if i do I'll be sure to let you know
Recently picked up my first (and no doubt won't be my last) Spector. No entirely sure of the model as it has some inconsistencies with the usual spec, but according to PJ it's a Spector Euro4 (apparently not an LX as it was made back in 2003 before the LX models started) with solid figured maple wings in Amberburst. It also has a 1.5" nut, which is typical of the Doug Wimbish signature model. I'll get some pics up as soon as I get some nice one's taken
Here are some pics of the bass Sorry about the dodgy photography, but I'm sure you'd agree she's a real beauty!
Hi As far as I'm aware, it doesn't have a single coil tap (99% sure). Cheers
Unless it was included as an additional extra, the PM models are equipped with only the following controls: - volume - pickup blend - bass cut/boost - treble cut/boost.

Spector Euro 4 - problems. Help needed
chuck_stones replied to chuck_stones's topic in Repairs and Technical
Chuck, With most problems that you have I would go to a luthier. But regarding the sound of G string (especially with treble boosted), I think that the gain of the preamp is set to high and you just overdrive the preamp. Can you check whether there is a little trimmer in the preamp, and if there is one, just turn the gain lower. If not, decrease the gain of the amp (and increase volume). Mark
Hi Mark, Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately, the pre-amp is one of the earlier Tone Pump models which doesn't have the gain trim pot, so I can't adjust the gain there. I'm not 100% convinced that it's overdriving the preamp as surely it would happen with the other strings too, especially the bottom strings? The same issue doesn't present itself on the other strings, and when I lowered the pickups, the sound remained -I'd have thought lowering the pickups would reduce the signal enough to eliminate the noise, if it was a gain issue? Regarding the rattling truss rod, I tightened it a little last night, and this morning it seems to have mostly eliminated the rattling, so that's good news. If I can only figure out the weird noise on the G string, I'll be a happy bunny! -
Tightening makes it straighter. The looser it is, the more the strings will pull it forward.
Doh! **Smacks forehead with hand**

Adding a passive tone feature to an all active bass.
chuck_stones replied to Soliloquy's topic in Repairs and Technical
Think you are right. I dont want to add another pot to the bass........ just dont know how to add it to the active system. Think I might just give up and buy another bass...............
LOL - always worth buying another bass If you're not adding another pot to the bass, how would you adjust the passive control, or would it be on full the whole time? If so, I guess you can literally just wire the pickups to the capacitor and then into the pre-amp? -
Adding a passive tone feature to an all active bass.
chuck_stones replied to Soliloquy's topic in Repairs and Technical
If I recall correctly when I installed my John East pre-amp which has the passive tone control you're referring to, the pickups wire directly into the passive tone control, which then in turn feeds into the pre-amp (not sure if there is a complication here with balance controls and the order of the pots?). I would imagine that the same principle applies? So would look something like this (where passive control and balance might have to be switched): Pickups > passive tone control >< balance > active controls > output? -
No. loosen the truss rod a quarter turn and live with it for a bit. Then do it again if it's still not quite right. That should do it for you.
+1 Although, if the op wants to add forward bow, shouldn't he be tightening the truss rod, not loosening it? Speaking of which, check with your manufacturer which way to turn it as some do vary, though lefty = loosey, righty = tighty is a good rule of thumb.
Has the op checked with the old press down on the first and 13th fret method to see if there is a gap yet?
Not to muddy the waters, but from past experience I've learned it's better to use the second fret, as the first fret is often left higher than the rest (depending on manufacturer), and will thus give an inaccurate reading.

Good afternoon all, I've recently picked up a second hand Spector Euro 4 circa 2003 and I've got some problems which I'm hoping someone might be able to help with. Firstly, I've got a buzzing or rattling noise which appears to be coming from the neck, which is particularly pronounced when I'm tuning the G string using harmonics (i.e. 5th and 7th frets on the D and G strings respectively). The rattling becomes more pronounced the harder I pluck the string. Secondly, if I pop the open G string, seemingly only when I have the treble boosted, I get a really weird noise which sounds like two discordant and distorted notes playing together. I've tried to resolve the issue by the following; - replacing the battery in case it was running low. - tweaking the 'dual-action' truss rod to ensure that it wasn't resting in the 'neutral' position. - lowering the pickups to see whether they were being over driven. - holding the strings past the nut (near the tuners) to eliminate them being the source of the rattle. - ensured that all screws were tight and all other movable parts were fastened securely (i.e. the locking bridge saddles and making sure the strap locks were tight). I'm at a loss as to what else to try. Has anyone else had similar issues, or experienced anything like this before, and come to find a solution? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Plan B - "The Defamation Of Strickland Banks"
chuck_stones replied to Toasted's topic in General Discussion
Sorry to Lazarus this thread, but just discovered this album at the weekend and was really pleasantly surprised by its soulful contents and as the OP mentioned, the absolutely awesome basslines driving just about every track on the album. I'm gonna have to spend some time working out some of the lines -
