1. Quite right too - BF Compact is pretty much the only cab you'll ever need. unless of course you want to run two of them. Or a Midget as well…...
2.
Also, check out this site: http://www.ovnilab.com//
Onvilab is pretty much the guru of compressors. Recommended site.
3.

GREAT tune. And Album. And Band. Thanks for posting!

5. Seriously, ColinH has got his bass back? Awesome news!
6. PM'ed re Punch Factory
7. The pre/power combination of the Jonas Hellborg stuff is a thing of beauty to behold. Doesn't sound too shabby either…
8. Probably. Maybe. Who knows?
9. Essentially it's an old SWR EQ section with a bit of dirt and compression in front of it. Useful mix of ideas.
10. EHX Small clone (cloned by yours truly).
11. It'll do anything you need it to - individual controls for input and gain mean that you can trade one off against the other - turn the input way up and drop the gain for clean sounds. You can also change the 12AX7 tube for a 12AU7 - that'll drop the amount of gain on tap - use the 'boost' knob to compensate for any signal loss earlier in the signal path.
12. Turn up, tune up, shut up. And don't be a dick.
13. I swear by Waves RBass®. Really fattens everything up.
14. Blade 5 string through an Ampeg SVP-PRO and Ampeg power amp into a Hartke Hydrive 410. Sounded AMAZEBALLS. Weighed the same as a whale calf.
15. Hotter pickup in your P?
16. Dunno, I teach a bit and students are still asking for Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Hendrix stuff. I guess if a student is really excited by music, then they are prepared to dig a little to find what they like.
17.
Au contraire - he clearly states that they're a 'composite set' - very rare, very expensive...
18.
The best part of this restoration is that he hasn't bothered to even fit new strings. In fact, he's just chucked on whatever dead crap he could find in his parts bin.
Au contraire - he clearly states that they've a 'composite set' - very rare, very expensive...
19. Good work there - looks amazing! Really pleased for you
20.
I love the look and idea of those things, but I keep wondering if they're not the Apple of amplification ... really, really cool-looking design being used to justify ludicrous prices.
they do look really, really cool, but they sound really, really good. I had the pleasure of recording through one a few years ago and it was AMAZING! No snake oil in these bad boys.
21.
Yes indeed I love it. Hope the bigger models will be more of the same just a few more options and the eq.
They are - I used to run a VT2-EQ and it was brilliant. Twice!
22. Can restore this to original factory specs if needed using the original components (this would put the Aural Enhancer circuit back in the signal path).
23. I'm another Dave Hall VT1 user; I've tried the Aguilar Tone Hammer, Sansamps, Xotic BB preamp, and a good few others besides. The only one I kept was the VT1 EQ, it's just more flexible than the others and sounds better (in my opinion).
24. A good octaver? They're always useful.
25. 2 - fretted Jazz, fretless Jazz. "I've never needed more"
