1.
It's all over the place, but IIRC the main riff is in 7/8, then it moves to 5/4 for the F#-E section and then 4/4 for the guitar solo.
Oh yeah. It's in 7. I always thought it a shame that Gilmour didn't play a solo over the 7 bit. Cop out!
2. 'Midnight Hour' (again for arpeggios) and 'A Kind Of Magic' by Queen - just to demonstrate what a major 6th sounds like.
3. We've got 2 guitarists in my metal band - one has a Gibson Explorer into a JCM800 head (practically a second bass player) and the other has a G&L Telecaster into a 100 Watt Peavey head. Much more clarity from the 2nd guitarist. They work well together though, as we can always tell what each instrument is doing.
4.
Money Pink Floyd, Roger Waters.....if i tried to tell you the mode i'd just expose my lack of music theory knowledge
I think it's B dorian in 5/4 time.
5. This. Just to highlight general bass awesomeness!
6. Eton Rifles by the Jam - great for learning your A minor 7 arpeggios. Chameleon - Herbie Hancock's Headhunters. Great foe 'one finger per fret' chromaticism.
7. Nicely done! Love the Misfits.
8. Good luck to him. I shan't be applying.
9. yup, grounding/shielding issue.
10. Best amp for a 'P'bass? Anything. Literally anything. P basses just slice through a band mix with plenty of 'oomph' to spare.
11. I had a flyer throughout the door the other day stating that Maplins are now doing the Alesis Guitarlink Wireless system for £35. Don't know if that's of any use to anyone wanting to dip a toe in the murky waters of wireless technology though. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/alesis-guitarlink-wireless-system-a39ta
12. Nice that. Pre-lawsuit headstock too. Definitely a lot of bass for the money.
13.
The fact that there was no expectation that I would have to dance to it was a major attraction
This.
14. not thought of using the strings to clamp it. I was planning to use some sort of capo (it's a Jazz neck, and very thin).
15. Fantastic!
16. For me it would be either Rush's 'Farewell to Kings' or Marillion's 'Misplaced Childhood'
17. On hold
18. Recently bought this on BC, and it's an awesome flanger, but I think I'm after a more 'phase shift/rotary' sort of box instead of a flanger, so moving it on. excellent condition Yours for £15 nuggets SOLD
19.
And if you're lucky enough to find someone who can actually keep time, it's always on the first and third beat
Nothing, and I mean *nothing* irritates me more than the 'clap on beats 1 & 3' brigade. Have they no soul?
20. Yeah, FWIW I really rate "Sgt Pepper's". Got it on CD and Vinyl - for special nights-in with a glass of Single Malt.
21.
Cream apparently didn't think they were very good either...they didn't think the Stones were any good at all though
Depends which one they asked - Clapton and Bruce might have given you a carefully considered response. Baker, on the other hand hates EVERYTHING!!!
22. Singer don't turn up to rehearsals? Bass player don't turn up to gig. Here endeth the lesson.
23. Sure, why not. Oh, you don't mean right now....Awwwww.
24. Got a new nut for my fretless the other day - old one was a bit worn. Is it just a case of slotting ing it and then filing the slots to the required depth, or am I missing something?
