Does the Bass Terror actually come with a manual? There's nowt on the (utterly crap) Orange website.
Nope. Nothing.
Just noticed TE do a few AH amps (300 and 500) both of which are in the 12 band series, would these power the cab or is the ah1000 the ONLY head?
AH1000 only I'm afraid. They were desined together. TheAH1000 has 3 power amps, 1 x 500-watt for the 15-inch and 2 x 250-watt for the 2x10s. No other Trace amp has 3 power amps. Just for the record the Speakon on the BFC is wired 1+ to the 15-inch +ve 1- to all -ve 2+ to the RH 2x10 +ve 2- to the LH 2x10 +ve
You could consider getting an Ashdown Little Giant 1000 and powering 1x2x10 and the 15! G.
Another good possibility however you'd need a custom speaker cable.
Anyone know how much these cabs are actually worth, guessing not much seeing as only one head can power the thing. I got it off ebay for £150, a bit tatty in places on the carpet covering but seems solid enough.
To someone with an AH1000 probably £250. If you prepared to spend some money on re-engineering it I guess it could be quite a good cab. I rewired mine temporarily. Connected the two 2x10s in parallel (makes 2-ohms) and then put them in series with the 15 to make 6-ohms. Sounded good. I already mentioned changing the 15 to 8-ohms, then wire the two 2x10s in series (8-ohms) and then connect them in parallel with the 15 to get 4-ohms. Whatever you do requires major internal rewiring due to the common return for all 3 speaker systems.
Ahh ok, so effectively unless i shell out for the AH1000 or the power amps i have no chance of powering all the sepakers in the cab?. Maybe it wasnt such a bargain after all, might be time to look for a new cab
Now you know why I sold mine.
so effectively it could all be down the lead i was given with the cab i.e this lead is for the matching TE bass head and as im using an Ashdown i need a different lead? Sorry for being thick!
Nothing to do with the lead. read my post above.

BFC is in fact 3 cabs in 1. 2 x 2x10s+ tweeter and a single 1x15-inch. Each is 4-ohms and has to be driven separately. The connection panel should have the wiring details for the 4-pole Speakon. 3-poles are used for each set of speakers, the 4th is the common return. I had one for a while and tried a number of different ways to drive it but ideally you need 3 power amps or an AH1000. Rewiring is not an option as there is no way you can get 4 or 8 ohms from 3 x 4-ohms. I thought about changing the 15-inch speaker for an 8-ohm version but the manufacturer had gone out of business and there was no other direct replacement.

I had an LG1000 for a while. It sounded OK but I didn't like the fiddly slider EQ controls. A couple of months ago I bought a Phil Jones D200 instead for £249 from The Bass Centre (delivered next day). It has active and passive inputs, a 5-band EQ on proper knobs a limiter and a decent headphone output. Sounds really nice and clean. Output is rated at 150-watts. Small and light and comes with its own gigbag. To date I've only used it for practice with headphones. I take the FX send into a mixer, add the PC output and then back in through the FX return. When the weather warms up or the house is empty I'll try it through some of my cabs. Well worth considering. I think there was a review in BGM a few issues ago.
I would like a power supply for an x2 wireless rather than a battery. Its 9v centre negative and 100ma am I correct in saying that using one with a higher capacity ie 300 ma or 1200 ma is not a problem? Thanks
Not a problem at all. The unit will only draw what power it needs.
I had some, hand delivered (by Dave Himself) leads come yesterday. It was nice to meet Dave as my nearby fellow basschatter, he told me that the leads should make a difference as the ones I had were not really fit for the job, I was expecting a little difference in the sound quality but I wasn't really prepared for the incredible increase in clarity, tons more bass got through to my Schroeder 2x12L, it really was a surprising difference and the prices started out good and got better as Dave gave me a basschat discount. I really can't endorse this gent enough. Buy with utmost confidence. Jake I bought. 1x3m instrument 2x0.5m instrument 1x0.5m speaker with speakon connectors. I had a combination of straight and angled jacks which were all Neutrik and the cables are Van Damme and Klotz.
Thanks Jake. It was a pleasure. I'd really like to hear that gorgeous Alembic one day

Oh this is tragic. I've played there a few times.

It arrived this morning ahead of schedule but I haven't been able to try it as we were without power for hours. It came with a nice little gig-bag but there is no user manual. When I have some spare time I'll whip the covers off and see if I can work out what the 4-ohm/8-ohm switch does. Unusual for a solid-state power amp.

Every time I renew the page my Kaspersky Anti-Virus is warning me that someone is trying to steal passwords and personal data and is blocking the top left ad and the footer ad block. It seems to be something to do with Google. What is going on?

It'll also go with my Epi 2x12, 2 x Epi 1x12s and the UL310. Just depends which I can fit in the Smart.

I got a promotional mailshot from SoundsLive the other day publicising their new web site. Included were a number of discount vouchers including 10% off Orange amps. Not being one to ignore a bargain I placed an order for a 500-watt Terror Bass which instead of the listed £412.39 brought the price down to £371.15 + carriage. A good saving and certainly the best price I've seen. They are due in stock within 2 weeks so now I have to wait, and wait, and wait. It'll be interesting to see what they go up to when VAT rises again.

Someone buy it quick. That looks a good price for a Marcus Miller

Can some one explain the whole Musicman, Stingray, Sterling thing
obbm replied to dave_bass5's topic in Bass Guitars
A Stingray 5 has been my main bass for over 11 years now, and with a Status neck for the past 5 years. If you liked the neck on the Duck Dunn then you will like the Status neck, however the sound might not suit. You are welcome to try mine but that could be logistically difficult. For sometime now the Gallery have had a used SR5 with a Status neck on their web site. Why not drop in and try it if it's still there. On the subject of DDs. Mine is now a PJ with a matched pair of Lindy Fralins. Superb. -
Dirty/intermittent contacts in the FX send and return jacks. Clean or over-ride with a short jack to jack cable.

Nice doing business again Nick. Glad you like the Precision. I'm looking forward to gigging again and using the Shuker. I've played the song many times but now I really am "Living Next Door to Alice"
