1.
...I'm too tight/skint to own a Gibson, but frankly after playing this one I don't see why I should!...
Hahaha. Just saw this and couldn't help posting. We're currently at 3.... and counting.
 2.
cheers guys it a 1970's fender bass body
They do have a very open grain. Here's what I did with a '78 body recently. I made the conscious decision to not fill the grain and make a feature of it.
 3. If you put them on the action might come down. Catch 22.
 4. Does no one use sandpaper any more?
 5.
I waz pissing by yoor window (I bet the under 25s will struggle with that one )
My lips are soiled.
 6. I'm falling back in love with my 5er - been playing it (and tweaking - installed a few new homemade mods) non stop over that last few days.
 7. Give 'em a buzz. http://www.fruduadirectdeal.com/contact.html Got to love the opening line.
 8.
Shall I bid £899.99 and see if hes a man of his word?? A
Hey what could go wrong?
 9.
....This apparently is the actual one on Jim's website, look at stock basses and scroll down.....
Ah good old Jim.
 10. Did someone leave the back door open at Proel? That 102HF would be a nice addition to my set up.
 11. If the relief is fine and you've got movement either direction then from a technical point of view don't sweat it. Not all tr's are set (in the wood) in precisely the same way.
 12. He probably did have a BIN but once the first bid goes in the option is removed. I hope he didn't "end" the auction after it finished... his wording makes it sound like he did.
 13. These are up there with the best cabs around. Good price too. Mine always gets used as a reference cab against all the up n coming new pretenders at each Moffat bash. Whoever buys this will not be dissapointed... that's a promise. Psycho : advertise this over on Finnbass. I know there were a few guys over there lusting after mine.
 14.
Wow, lovely for a project! Re-finish it, the fret slots are already cut, buy some P pickups (someone's selling some wizzards on here), buy a pickguard and you're sorted! Shouldnt cost more than £60-70! Truckstop
Easier said than done my friend. The state of it suggest to me that the work so far hasn't been carried out with the interest of the bass in mind.... or by someone who has a scooby doo. have you ever tried re-fretting a neck that someone (with the best of intentions) has just ploughed in and fecked up the slots... it's soul destroying. I agree it should make a fine project... but to give it it's best chance, it should be done by someone who knows what they are doing.
 15. What a shame poor wee beastie.
 16.
I'd guess that a p pickup in that position is going to sound something like a fattened jazz bass bridge soloed with perhaps a hint of Stingray on those top strings. Probably a pretty cool sound!
Yep I get a MM-esque "pinch" when I have this pup soloed.
 17.
he got back to me and i can custom order what i want. he also has some very nice exotic woods in stock for stupid cheap price, check out his ebay shop! im going to order a left hand telebass body, in black korina with zebra wood top like this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/T-style-replacement-...=item3a661e0b60 gonna go down the asat route and ask for 2 bucker routs, build thread incoming soon!
Nice one.
 18.
.... how does £120 with postage sound?...
As this is posed as a question, I'm almost tempted to answer.... but rules is rules This is Merton's old Groove right?
 19. Yep you're right it's quite a bit off the traditional position. Although it might not be as bad as it seems - I recently built a bass with a split P in almost the same position as theirs (plus a bucker in the trad P spot) and I'm very chuffed with it.... For me, pup positioning is all down to harmonics (admittedly hard to pin point it on a split P). Email them and ask if they had a specific reason to place theirs there.
 20. I bet the next time we see it, it isn't going for £650 too.
 21.
I did a series/parallel mod on a Jazz earlier this year, now I've got another Jazz and I'd like to add series/parallel switch to that too, plus a blend pot, so the knobs would go... V (push/pull) - B - T Does anyone have a diagram for this? Cheers, - Kev
I'm not sure you can have "blend" while they are in series.
