2.
I *know* I have at least one of these spare, if not two....but can I lay hands on them? AAaaaagh!!! G.
Ooh, let me know if you track 'em down Geoff.
3.
I'm quite pleased that doing this to guitars has moved on to this sort of response. Not long ago we had to accept sanded guitars as being a good thing as part of our tolerant, existential society. When will this move to those who have received this treatment at the Fender factory - or am I still treading on egg shells?
I think it's a little too soon for that yet. Lovers of the "pro knackered" (not just Fender) are still going relatively unchallenged over claims of an inexplicable boost in performance and tone over their completely varnished brethren, which in turn perpetuates a price point that excludes non-elitists from actually trying one out at length and finding out the truth.
4.
http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/guitarknobs_hipshot.htm Try that I think bass direct may sell them
Fantastic. That's exactly the very dab. I spent 2 night searching Google images for "ribbed" and "knobs".... not a pretty sight. Many thanks guys. Much appreciated.
5. Does anyone know where I can find an identical friend for it? ... It's satin black, metal with rubberised banding and slotted grub screw. Ta.
6. It's got it all.
7. Some use plastic or the back off a Frosties packet but I like wood veneer - it sits with me better that the harmonic transference is through a similar medium and not isolated or dampened by an inert layer.
8. If when it's all bolted together can you (by flexing the neck and body) visibly open up the cracks? If no, leave it. If yes, see the above. If no but you can't sleep at night worrying about it see the above also.
9.
Fixed
Like it. Thanks guys, without wanting to hijack the thread too much, the end result was even sicker (opened up the control cavity too).
10. Mine's silent... as any good humbucker should be.
11.
Hi, I'm trying to find the post about string tensions that I think mentions these- are these the bass strings that are low tension & are they long scale? Thanks, Stompbox
Very low tension.
12. I'm old school. I use a chisel. I find it far more accurate than a router (like <mm accurate)... although it does take longer obviously. Here's a '78 P body undergoing the ou7shined treatment. (MFD 'bucker where the old P used to be, reverse P in the bridge position and a rout for the G&L bridge anchor)
13.
I am sadly selling my complete Mark Bass rig, and so Im putting it up for sale on here, Basschat, first. This is a Mark Bass LMii, 600W head, with line out, tuner out, effects send/return and a balanced DI, also included is a silver flight case, custom made for this amp, which is why its in such good condition.................
Wow yours goes up to 11.
14.
That's what I mean, Dreaming and Hounds of Love are fantastic so I'd like to hear them re-done with less dated sounding drums, for instance
Ah yes, I misread what you said. I know what you mean about the drums.
15.
From what I can gather the album is a collection of re-visited tracks from The Red Shoes and The Sensual World. So, some elements are as they were on the original albums, some parts have been reworked. Interesting idea, but I'd say those are easily my least favourite Kate Bush records If only she'd picked The Dreaming and Hounds of Love...
Haha Red Shoes and Sensual World are my least favourite, whereas The Dreaming and Hounds of Love are up there with my favourites. Horses for courses. I hope they do a better job on this remix album than the "revisited" version of Wuthering Heights (didn't get on with it at all). If it comes out with a smattering of Aerial then we'll be in for a treat.
16. I thought they were going for about £300 usually. Looks like they might be well worth a bit of the old reverse engineering then.... if you could afford one in the first place that is.
17. Love her. Not sure we need a director's cut of "Flower of the Mountain" (The Sensual World) - the original was soooo effin' perfect.
18. Sh*t the bed! Good luck with that.
19.
...Send me an offer to my inbox. I'll send photo's or answer any queries also. Any silliness will be ignored.
Hi. Unfortunately for you, set out in the forum T&Cs you must state a price in your ad. While you're at it, you might as well add the pics too. Please don't ignore this silliness.
20. Sperzel tuners and Sandberg knobs and string tree please.
21. Neck stamped 2 days after I was born.
22. I would have thought that if it has started chipping off already that the good use of a non abrasive thumb nail would finish the job. Any stubborn bits, just flex the p/g slightly to crack the paint.
23.
Without question ! Should be on sale for £5K
LOL I forgot I'd posted that. I'm glad you got it.
24. Contrary to popular belief straight is not necessarily all it's cracked up to be.
25. Hondo Deluxe's are fast becoming the equivilant to Pre CBS Fenders.
