If the one wheel was fixed to one end, like a wheelbarrow, it could work. It could also be fixed under the middle, which would balance better. On the other hand, if the wheel was fixed as on a vehicle's axle, the log could at least be turned (rolled...) in a circle..? Other options are surely possible... More wheels would, though, open up more possibilities, I'll agree.

I play lefty (although I'm right-handed; it just worked out that way when I started...). I can't remember ever having to play anyone else's kit, but I've very often had my kit used by others. We'd simply switch over the floor tom and hi-hat, then switch out my double pedal for theirs if necessary, and that suffices for most (sometimes permute the rack toms, too, if requested...). The snare is usually replaced, and usually cymbals, too, unless I know the other drummer very well indeed..! It's true that, during a long career, I was more often head-lining than not, with an excellent Camco kit, and so had first choice of set-up. Despite all of that, most drummers I've played with are flexible enough to adapt to a 'foreign' set-up, as long as the snare stand is at the right height/angle for them. There are exceptions (head-bangers with a hit-hat perched almost 2m from the floor..!, Or those that use only china crashes for their whole set..!); maybe I've just been lucky, most of the time.

[/quote] That's part of the 'wedding band' tariff, normally, as at least someone (and often the whole band...) have to stay until the party's over, to tear down the PA and leave. It's often a Good Idea to have a DJ take over that role, with their own, more modest sound system (and budget that in, of course...), just to liberate the band. It can be a long night...

Heil are excellent mics, but they are more expensive than the more common Shure offerings. Worth the difference..? Yes, of course, to some. Not to all, though. Just sayin'.

The only real downside of the Heil mics is their cost. Not a mic one would want beer spat into, dropping on the floor or doing a Daltrey swing. Best as a personal mic for a singer who wants good gear and will look after it. The PR35 recommended here, for instance, sells for £260 or so. A good investment, not to be wasted on just any ol' singer; avoid letting the evening's MC take it for calling the sweepstake winners.

One shouldn't neglect the budget considerations (the expense of the new PA rigs, with either top wedges or decent IEM for the whole band is not cheap at all...), and the bands that play at venues that already have PA, but not equipped for these new technologies. I don't know how it works out in the UK now, but here in France, I've always found it to be rare that the PA is capable of rendering backline redundant, even on medium festival stages. Top-flight venues, or autonomous bands with cash available to them, I'd agree it's the way to go, but that's far from everyone, I reckon. 'Twill come, surely, but needs another decade or so, maybe..? We've already come a long way since '17 Watts', just the same; a bit more patience, perhaps..?
