  1. Love a headless bass..I'll be following this with much anticipation
  2. Looking good. TBH living down the road from Alan would be a dream and a nightmare for me...love to watch a genius at work but I'd be giving him all my money... Yes, I'd have some beautiful basses but I wouldn't be eating much. I'm envious of your new acquisition...
  3. Look who the seller is... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334559620846
  4. I had the 4 string set neck version of this bass - the only Warwick I've really liked.
  5. Wow....something to pass down to the next generation for sure.
  6. Love these en garde and riposte type tracks...
  7. These are nice basses...I played one at LBGS 2018 I believe. Nearly bought one on impulse...no idea how I didn't TBH. One criticism of your post though, they did make quite a lot of them so they're not that rare..I accept that they don't come up for sale very often though.
  8. I don't want to be a naysayer but it sounds like you're planning on spending a not insignificant amount of money for one particular project. What happens if the project doesn't happen or take off? I suspect your return on the bass, if sold, will be a rather nasty hit....
  9. I prefer Rosewood boards to Maple as a rule...
  10. Hearing lots of good things about this pair of young jazzers. They have written stuff for Herbie Hancock and others. https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kXLzoOxZvbV89JMRnDmuuuBMtHQhqP5pg
  11. Understandable that you can't wait...both are amazing looking and having seen @Jabba_the_gut's work first hand we can be sure of the quality. In your position I'd probably be offering to give him a lift to his workshop each evening. You know what they say..."good things come to those who wait"...not sure I could though.
  12. Just about anything by Brian Culbertson
  13. I keep seeing these for sale but the prices range from about £100 to several hundreds so I'm never sure what a fair price is. Neck thru 70s Matsumotu basses were amazing - good buy sir!!
  14. Genuinely rare in the UK I believe - available to the Japanese home market only during the 70s. Hard to find other examples that sold but this seems to have sold relatively cheaply. Anybody here win this (I'm expecting a "yes" from @AndyTravis).
  15. Stop making sense by Talking Heads. The defamation of Strickland Banks by Plan B. Infected by The The Live and Direct by Aswad.
  16. Looks better with the red 'plate than the standard black one. GLWTS
  17. I think most of us have had bad experiences with couriers. I generally use PF, the depot is less than a mile away, I went to school with my local driver and, having left positive feedback on several occasions, have a good relationship with the senior in the depot. I have no control once my parcel leaves the local depot but building those relationships seems to have paid off.
  18. That's what it says anyway... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144695504548?hash=item21b0862ea4:g:ayEAAOSwfatjClsM&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoO0ReOFjnEHOJ6rec2%2FdM%2BHKaYIK0nDl5XIi2MVdUbQ7cNuhIaMt2afNl8UZtBqUK9L3g5iRRsA6df6DuoIO1He%2BZHBvSZuRPOfnxtuAHr%2FtgQi5LXgGWQAlN83lyIF%2FKYwsQrFYJycnR1Is73dMUqCRRhndVVzrw3SW8ExC59%2BEwg7v02OJuYqMYmKwIuO5QsxcfNfJKotmAdqHE3eBYt0%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7KaioffYA
  19. I got myself a Yamaha BBG5S, when a pearl white one became available I dived ( dove??) in.
  20. same bass...not the same amount of ability
  21. I don't like sunburst basses TBH but I managed to trade for this Yamaha BBG5S with the dream of playing like this fella.
  22. I've had a few fretless basses over the years haven't really got on with any of them, till I got this Yamaha TRB 5IIF. Gorgeous tones, lovely neck and so, so playable. Get one!!
  23. Buyer doesn't want to pay for a hard case. Pretty sure this will be a standard requirement so it looks like we're taking the risk. I've been lucky so far. 🤞
  24. Those mentioned are on my "fat chance" list. I agree with your comments about insurers incompetence but buyer is prepared to pay for insured carriage.
