1. There was a bit of a rush at the beginning of the year when he passed away but Mick Karn from Japan and Dalis Car. A
2. Leslie Langston and Bernard Georges of Throwing Muses A
3. Just ask each one for an additional pic and see who comes up trumps A
4. Colin Moulding of XTC A
5.
can't there be a passive jag with tone/volume pots and pickup selecter switches? i badly want to like the jags but they're either over the top with a million controls or just bits nicked from existing models :/ i do like the maple neck and block inlays though (and the p/j setup) gripe over plus isn't this nicer? http://www.fender.co...rtno=0327900506 dammit i keep thinking of things - a 5 string option on a jag would be AWESOME - if you're listening, fender.......
Yes by a long way. That particular baby has caught my eye.......... Oh dear A
6.
Easily be superglued back in if it's real, or touched up with a black biro if not....
Lol - you sound so reasuring Darkstrike Makes me want to give it a go but unfortunately see below
well, what are you waiting for?
Im waiting for my £170 Ray Mears Wood Lor Knife to arrive. Cant go diggin in with any old rusty blade you know A
7.
Not sure! I just had a close look... they seem too "perfect" to be inlays. Looks very much like the "binding" which seems painted, and the blocks do look painted too, to me.
Hmmm Now Im not sure. Had another look and yes they do seem very good. There is no 'ridge' at all between the black inlay and maple but there is a grain effect running through the inlay which is 3 dimensional and there seems to be that slither of filler around the blocks. Comparing it to my Fender Kingman which has perloid in a Rosewood you can feel that tiny step. Without getting my penknife out I wouldnt bet my house on either. A
8.
Eddie and the hot rods played in Devon last week and in the summer withThe (re formed) Heavey Metal kids, who were also on the 1976 TOTP a few months before them. Next month they tour France with Dr Feelgood and nine below zero.
Now that would be a cool gig 2 out of 3 aint bad
9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlzGsTMqZ8g&feature=player_embedded Thats the first bit of exibition slap that Ive seen with any semblance of musicality in it
10. It probably wont make any desernable difference what so ever and could be prooven so under the most stringent of scientific tests. Unfortunately your brain may choose to tell you otherwise when it comes back all shiney and black. A
11. Mine are (wooden) inlays. you can see the filler around them A
12. Yesterday and today it takes at least two clicks on the back button for it to work! Whats THAT all about?? It only happens on BC A
13. That must be where Peter Kay got the insparation for the bass player in that duo in Phoenix Nights Cant for the life of me remember what they were called or find a clip!!!! A
14. Im sure the OP wasnt trying to be too serious and I take the point but Im sorry, in no way whatsoever are Eddie and the Hotrods punk!!!!! Punk was an attitude rather than just music or fashion. And to clarify, Dr Feelgood had more 'attitude' in Mr Brilleaux's little finger than most punk bands but it wasnt the 'Punk attitude'. A
15. BIG BIG Fan Yep when you listen to him talk you do have to work hard at it and the phrase WTF springs to mind occationally but stick a Bass in his hands and its just soooooooo smooth and natural and flowing and all that. He just picks you up and whafts you along. Thats some achievement when you listen to the rest of PIL. Hes done alright for an ex Underground train driver He has that natural DUB groove that reminds me of Mani whom I also love very much. Their use of the gaps (You can do the 'underground' joke yourselves there) is sublime!! A
16. Does it come with transfers? Are all the bits still attached to the sprue? should it be painted with Humbrol Khaki or Olive Drab? A
17. I too have a VM and realy like the pickups as they are. What I did do and you are adament you wont is stick an Audere JZ in it and it makes a BIG difference just like a J-retro does (Which Im popping into the fretless Im making). Why break a habit of a lifetime, go Deluxe, you know you want to A EDIT to say, theres always The Wizards and with a JZ/J-Retro you dont have the VVT setup
18. OK Ive had a good look round and all is well and good work and all that so only three suggestions, one I know someone else has pointed out: 1. Everythings a bit 'spaced out' and could be tighter. It makes going places and finding things easier. For me anyway. 2. The sub headings was a good thing since it helped you get a better feel for whats inside. 3. That light grey colour for the bulk of the text is getting a bit hard to read and makes navigating hard work. Every thing else is an improvement. That is all A
19. I think it looks blood cool! and agree that the back is nicer than the front but still it looks darn good if you ask me. A
20. Could we sumise from this discussion and evidence provided that Flea played/plays, like pretty much every other bass player and infact pretty much every other musician that ever lived, a variety of instruments but does, on occasion favour one particular brand? Now there is a radical concept!!! Just on the 'Used XXX bass during recordings' debate. Considering the vast array of electronics that the signal goes through I would imagine it would be possible to make a Sue Ryder sound like an Alembic and visa versa. A
cos I love Jazz necks LoL
OIC I was wonderin why you would want to swap an ABG that you dont play for another ABG. Hmmmm might be tempted Could do a straight swap? The only thing Ive done is remove the horrid gold plastic scratch plate so it looks alot better. No marks left. Its a stick on job. Oh and lowered the action so its playable. Strung with Roto Black Nylons and yep its a lush neck. Anything you want to tell me about yours? A

24. Just to reitirate the side dots on and off the frets Ive just bought a Harley Benton Fretless acoustic a few weeks ago and the dots are 'between' the fret! ala fretted basses. To save costs I suppose but that completely freaked me out!! I couldnt play the thing!! I quickly replaced the binding and put the dots where they should be ie 'on' the fret. Love playing it now. Im sure I could have gotten used to it but it just seems wrong to me! Oh and since everyones puttin thier four peneth in............. NO Fretlines is the only way. Looks so dam sexy too A
