1.
Aren't they just bog standard PB type machine heads?
Alright me duck Not quit. They have straight posts and holes on the side (ala guitar posts) instead of slots and centre holes. They do look the same other wise but I would double check that any replacements are the same height because they face each other. (Hope that makes sense without pics!) A
 2. If you look on this as the 'reputation voting' of the reputation system. I.e. vote to get rid = a neg vote. Why have we posted 240+ posts? Surely there is no point in DEBATING and HAVING A LAUGH when all we have to do is click a red or green box or in this case vote on yes or no or just a bit of it!!! Stop this stupid pointless system and TALK!! Its called bassCHAT ffs. Phew did I just loose my temper? Not aimed at anyone at all. Its been an exercise and we have learned now we can all grow and be better people for it ............ Or can we???? A
 3.
Brilliant idea, might try this myself .......if i can get it in red.
Darling* they do them in all sorts of colours. Just pop down to Claires Accessories this Saturday and pick out one thats just you. If your not sure then ask one of the nine year old girls** Im sure they'd love to pick you one out Seriously though they all seem to be made in one standard width of clip with the decoration vareying so ebay may be a safe bet.*** * For effect and to 'be in character' only. I drink pints and smoke rollies ok! ** Try not to tread on any. Thier usually all over the floor and make a right mess of your size 10s *** Especially if 20 odd nine year old girls in a confined space freak you out! A
 4.
That's brill! You could market these for £50! 5.
Love the ears
Cheers They light up as well Well BLING A
 6. *GIRLS Make a statement and feel more confident with the latest thing for your EUB to be seen in at high street prices. Simply pop down to your local accessory shop and get yourself one of those hair bands. You know the sort that you clip in. Then take out the central spring thingy. It just clips out. Then find yourself some nice foam and cut to size then super glue it in place. Finally clip it onto your strings below the bridge and your all set to wow them all. Whether it be in Ronnie Scotts or the Philli its bound to turn heads. So go for it girls and make a statement. We went for the classic little black number which coordinates well with Poppie's slim dark complexion. You can of course choose any number of styles depending on your mood from the plain classic black to blingy diamond or even a Hello Kitty. See the pics below for the results and a few close ups to illustrate the mods needed. * That means you blokes as well A
 7. Dennis "It'll be even 'otta tamowah" Greaves has put on a few pounds! Still a top bloke though A
 8.
You gave ALL your basses names ?
Erm well once one got one (Blondie) it just seemed right. Didnt want any of them to feel left out. You know how it is. Ive got problems havent I? (Curls up in a corner and rocks slowly back and forth muttering with a thousand yard stare ) A PS the GF calls them 'My Bitches'
 9. Oh this is such a good thread and the humour is as it should be . Slap and fingers are as valid as each other its just how and when you use them. You speak through your instrument. Your communicating, expressing etc etc. Its your voice. How hard it is depends on what level you want to achieve. To my ears that ratio should be 99.9% for fingers to 0.1% slap. Oh and now I suppose the fashion is for a small sig is it? Grrrrr suppose Ill have to start selling some basses. WOMEN FOR SALE. GET YOUR WOMEN HERE WHILE THEIR HOT.................. A
 10. They look better with each pic Cant wait for my J to come so I can get modding hee hee. Anyone found one of those Oly white with black PG precisions?? Realy want one but no ones selling. Sods law that the ones I want are either unavailable or look pants Grrrrr
 11.
ych a fi!!
Hhahaahha - havent heard that for a while A
 12. I was going to quote the 'get out of trouble' bit in the instructions but thinking about it it may still use the battery if it still has juice in it. One way to answer your question is to remove the battery and see if it still works? You are pulling the lead out when your not playing arent you? (sorry for the 'have you got petrol' question) A
 13.
Makes no difference although I'd go for whichever is the closest on the basis that the longer the wire, the more there is of it to break.
Or the furthest so if it does break you can still solder it to the shortest.* *Way to complicate a simple answer A
 14.
Interesting post, its my personal opinion that you get a slightly different timbre depending on which finger you use, could just be the fact that each finger contacts the string in a slightly different place, i often use one finger to play a fairly easy line where consistency of tone (or possibly attack) is important. I think that in terms of sound rather than ease of playing one finger can actually be better.
Very true. It all adds to your 'tone' BTW which finger is best for metal? A
 15.
Bought some guitar bits and pieces from hong kong for cheaper than seems legal on the bay. All arrived in good condition. I was quite pleased. What ya gotta remember is these eastern traders are so desperate to tap into the western Market that they daren't put a foot wrong, negative feedback for these guys would be instant Hari-Kari. Trade with confidence. Everything you buy in the Uk comes from these guys anyway so all you are doing is cutting out the middle man.
Thats kind of what I thought. A while back I was after a paddle headed neck. I found a HK supplier for about £40 all in. Probably the same thing as goes in the UK sellers for £80!
 16.
Gentle Giant - Playing the Fool was a good one.
Good call But it has to be that old chestnut Live at Leeds Others to mention: Stupidity - Dr Feelgood Live at the Marquee - Nine Below Zero Bursting Out - Jethro Tull Get your Ya Ya's out - Rolling Stones Red Rocks - U2 (Dont laugh - thats when they were good) Toyah Toyah Toyah - Toyah (again dont laugh it is actually good since its pre 'Its a mystery') Rust Never sleeps - Neil Young A
 17. Ha ha cool as............. Is that an F-Toys as well? Didnt see that in the searches! Id love a J but all I can find is a not very nice purple PG and black one A
 18. This is all good stuff and thanks guys. Ill still tread with care though. cheers A
 19. Ive noticed while looking for 'stuff' on the bay that there is quit often a lot of sellers from Hong Kong and Singapore. Prices are very reasonable and postage is also low if not free. Im not talking about expencive or fake rolex or Rics Im talking just general no name stuff. So is it all too good to be true? Anyone tried it? Is there a hidden flaw? The sellers are companies and have almost perfect selling records! I know HK is the capital of cheap but I would have thought postage and tax would kill it! Your thoughts please and thanks in advance A
 20.
Got no lines or dots at all on my double bass, I get slightly jealous on them if I ever try to jump up the neck, and miss (badly). Well, time to do some scales
Ha! will be joining you in that big bad world soon. Just ordered a Stagg EDB so Ill be in the same boat. Oh hold on its got side dots A
 21. Ripped off to the tune of £430 A
 22.
I prefer to have mine just behind the dot, unlined with tiny dots on the side, so you don't look much anyway. It works well for me, although it makes lined fretless more confusing for me!
Exactly A
 23.
I got the '51 a while ago, then this showed up http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c6035ef70 don't think they come up often.
Cool beans KiOgon I want me a Jazz A
 24.
Never while playing. Have snapped one when changing strings at home by absent-mindedly turning tuner in wrong direction until string snapped! What a stupid git.
I dont think your alone there discreet lol. One did go about 20 years ago on me and Ive got my GDAE's muddled up on occasion lol A
 25. Cheers Dave I didnt read the willis stuff (too busy listening to Caig Charles) but Im with the phylosophy of lines on a fretless just complicate things and dots are there for rough reference only its your ears that count. Like was expressed in your thread. Like bottomEndian shows in his pics thats what I was getting at and as doddy says you adjust to suit. I was just wondering about the basic setting or theoretical setting. Awooga awooga A
